iD Fresh Co-Founder PC Musthafa Takes You Inside The Largest Idli Dosa Batter Factory In The World

- Every year, March 30th is celebrated as World Idli Day, a tradition that started six years ago. This World Idli Day, Moneycontrol takes you inside iD Fresh's new factory in Anekal, Karnataka. iD co-founder PC Musthafa, who started the company with his four cousins - Abdul Nazer, Shamsudeen TK, Jafar TK, and Noushad TA, says this is the biggest idli dosa batter, vada batter, and parotta plant in the world, the culmination of a dream for an entrepreneur who came from humble origins.
The plant has been set up at an investment of Rs 40 crore, is spread across 80,000 square feet, and employs over 2,000 people...At top capacity, it can produce 1.2 lakh kgs of idli dosa batter per day,3.5 lakh parottas, and 10,000 kgs of vada batter.
It's a long journey from where Musthafa first started in 2005, with a 50 square feet kitchen at an investment of Rs 50,000, selling 100 packets a day on a second-hand scooter. Moneycontrol's Chandra R Srikanth with this special report.

I use their idli batter regularly. Excellent product indeed. Btw Mr Musthafa, though a keralite was sensible enough to choose a state other than Kerala to locate his facility. Had he started the business in Kerala we'd never have heard about himnir his brand thanks to the "investor friendly" environment in Kerala...😀

Mr. Mustafa, what you are doing as a business is a great service to a lot of home makers. The dosa/idly batter is really very good.
A few miscrents are trying to tarnish your business by spreading a rumour that you are mixing some non vegetarian ingradients in dosa batter. A new variety of batter with added Vitamin K2 is suggested.
What proof do you have to say it’s false news?

Year 2003: when I was undergoing 3rd year full term internship at Vidya Dairy, Anand as an idea discussion, had mentioned that to attract south indian audience, we can concentrate on creating a process for ready to eat idli /dosa. The supervisor then was Mr Gokul (frustrated because despite being M.Tech was stuck in this small town of Anand) shot down my idea mentioning that it's not possible & feasible. As a student I can't tell you it was disappointing to see that all those discussions were theoretical. I remember seeing ID first time in Whitefield, Bangalore and was super happy ! And been following ID's journey!! It's heartening to see the way ID team has progressed 👍🌈. I wanted to reach out to Mr Gokul and tell him but then left it. Why bother someone who despite his education was not encouraging of application of those learnt theories and observations in Food Tech🙄🙄!!

Am still wondering, without preservatives how it maintain the quality. In our home batter max shelf life if you keep in the fridge is 3days, some time it will extent to 4 days too, later on batter will be sour. By the way the grounded idli batter will be good on nextday, if we extend the days we wont get soft porus texture..

I am a regular customer of ID dosa idly batter, vada batter, filter coffee and chapati from uae. ID is the best batter without any additives, very natural and hygienic ingredients. Love love love their vada. Nobody has perfected vada batter like ID did.
