    Hello All,
This is Krishnan Mahadevan, the owner of Iyer Idly - the restaurant featured in this video. Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for your comments and support. Means so much to us and our family :')
Just wanted to clarify a point on the language being spoken in the video. I'm a pure Bangalorean. Been here all my life. My family of the last 3 generations have lived here and supported the land. Me, as a pure bred Bangalorean consider Kannada as my first language. I respect the language, the land and the people that have supported us and helped us survive. I'm proficient (both reading and writing and conversational) with Kannada. It's just that my mother isn't fluent enough like me (she knows the language) and since it was from the international media, we didn't want any issues with grammatical errors on screen. Hence she had to converse in the language she was comfortable, Tamil. She speaks Kannada otherwise and considers this as her homeland.
Thank you all once again for your support :)
    ಜೈ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ 💛❤️

I've been living in Vignananagar for quite long and been visiting this place quite often to get idlis for our family since the early 2000 when Krishnan dad along with his mother looking after this place...
Krishnan a school going kid then,
My elder son Harsha Aiyappa and Krishnan are good friends and of almost the same age...
Krishnan has become an entrepreneur after his dad's demise whereas my son started working in an American company in a good position...
Circumstances in life makes one to take extreme steps to handle things better, and Krishnan is an example even though he runs just this place...
Almost everyday I keep seeing him serving idlis to customers who queue up for idlis along with his staff, some going back empty handed late in the evening as limited stock of idlis getting over soon enough...
He's a good example for many youngsters, who's quite contented and successful with his business of selling quality idlis to masses.
    Wishing him all the best.

This was very interesting. I disagree with the observation around it being a risky n move for him. His father took a risk. He took something that he knew would make money and was something that he enjoyed doing and focused on that. If he has healthy margins and has a wide customer base that buys from him regularly then it's a surefire thing. If he maintains or improves his quality then he should be fine for the rest of his life. Compete on quality. Price is a losing proposition unless you have scale.

Might seem so, but as a person before me already mentioned, it's pretty rare in India for someone to come out of the corporate bubble for something like a family owned restaurant. When the dude says it's a risk he means it regarding both social status and finance; there are lot of idli shops in Bangalore for the same price and he's gotta manage the restaurant well to keep it going with the same momentum.

Idli known as iddalage is officially mentioned in a 900 CE Kannada language work, Vaddaradhane by Shivakotiacharya. Similar recipes have also been found in later writings, such as the Manasollasa written by Karnataka King Someshvara III in 1130 CE which details a recipe called iddarika. Proud to come from the Karnataka, the land of good food and idli which I consider to be is the world's healthiest and best breakfast 😋😋 Nam oor idli thara yenu illa guru!😎

one reason this place is so popular is because they dont use soda or yeast which 99.99% of restaurants and eateries add. you are always guaranteed of freshly prepared meals. a trust which has won people's heart.
another thing is most restaurant compromise quality for profitability, if one focuses on quality, the venture would become profitable for sure.
this is an example of simplicity with perfection.
