In today's video we go through the process of getting KlipperScreen installed on your 3d printer running Klipper. I have ran plenty of my Klippered printers without a screen but sometimes it is nice to be able to walk up to your printer and see its status or make quick changes on the fly.

This video is brilliant, straight to the point, have way thought I had Klipper screen working, thanks for another very helpful video. 5 stars
Thank you for the video. My Raspberry Pi 7" screen should be here in a few days and I look forward to doing this.
Sweet looking screen too!
Awesome work once again
Great job. Thanks for the video!
For the low cost of this screen it makes sense to add if you need access at the printer, which I do at times. although the ipad works with a very low latency that it can do the job just fine also. I only did this to one of 4 printers so far not sure if the others will need it.
I thought I had to give up my GPIO pins for that, good to see I can do it with HDMI and USB cables... might give it a go now. Cheers!
KlipperScreen has been great. I use a single Pi for two printers and KlipperScreen handles that very well. It’s great to have that fine tuning menu on a big touchscreen as the print starts.
I have been hearing more and more about using a single Pi for more than one machine. What Pi are you running? And are your using webcams?
@@ModBotArmy It's a Pi4 4GB, but I see very low utilization even when printing with both so lower end Pi's would be fine. Not sure how low you could go, I suspect that steaming the two cameras takes the most resources. I have two USB webcams, one for each printer but they are the exact same model so I had to keep track of the USB ID when configuring. I used KIAUH to set up pretty much everything. The one piece that hung me up for a bit was while KIAUH supports configuring multiple Klipper and Moonraker installs, if you have one installed it does not let you add a second one. You must remove the one (it saves the config) and set up again specifying you want two of each from the outset. The script doesn't tell you this and I think the dev could add some contextual hints in the errors. The configuration of KlipperScreen was straightforward as their docs mention using more than one printer. I have a minor gripe (I think) about Mainsail and multiple printers. When you click on Printers, they are listed as IP:port, no names. I have not found a way to alias them, so I have to always remember which printer is 7125 and which is 7126.
@@jdl3408 Hey, bit of a weird place to ask but I myself have tried to run two printers off the same Pi using KIAUH, but have failed every time. Are you able to print simultaneously with both printers using the same Pi? I have not managed to do that personally, and my best guess as to why is when the time comes to use the RPi as a secondary MCU, as both try to get hold of it at the sale time.
Did you have to do any special config with yours?
@@pixel_vengeur391 Yes they both work at the same time. I don't think I had to do any special configuration. You have two instances of Klipper and mainsail installed, with mainsail listening on two different ports? I don't know why there would be a conflict unless the device IDs of the two printers is somehow the same. Do both of yours work one at a time?
@@jdl3408 They do work independently. I have two instances of Klipper and Moonraker, and one instance of Mainsail hosted on a separate machine (for reasons specific to my network). I can access both, make them print one at a time, but not both at the same time.
I'll try using two Mainsail instances but that seems like a hacky solution, given that Mainsail is only a UI...
Nice timing. Now I want to add a touchscreen to the 2.4 I’m currently building. 🙈
Very useful! I have been wondering how you do this 👍
It is such a nice interface. I have some printers in the garage and although I could pull up mainsail on my phone it is much more convenient being able to interact with them quickly from the screen. 😊
The Pi Zeros I run Klipper on really aren't up to displaying XWindows, so I dug out an old HP Stream7 (Windows 8) Tablet that I put Debian on many moons ago and it runs KlipperScreen really well.
Is there anyway of using Klipper screen with the Qidi Tech Q1 pro and can you please make some videos about modifications for the Qidi Tech Q1 pro 3d printer, thank you and God bless
Hey - i ordered a screen just now, thanks for the nice walkthrough - do you know where i could get stls for a nice case for it? (i have a hypercube evo that i would like to mount this on)
Do you have any tips for an alternative screen saver? The stock install looks so good then it blinks red, blue, green for the screen saver
Hello! Thanks for this video! I bought the same EVICIV Raspb Pi Touch Screen yo use in the video and set everything up as you did. However, the screen will not respond to touches. I sent the first one back after reading some comments of defects. The second screen is the same - to response to screen touches. Did you have any difficulty with enabling the touch screen to respond to touches? I hooked my screen up exactly the way you did. It displays the KlipperScreen content. But, still no touch response.
is this screen compatible with the BTT Pi4b with the CB1? Pis are crazy right now
I just installed a 7" touch screen to my Rasp Pi 4 along with Klipperscreen and everything was fine until I changed the theme to "Colorized". Since then, my screen shows "No Signal". I tried to reinstall KlipperScreen but nothing. It might have to be a configuration setting. Any suggestion will be much appreciated.
will klipperscreen work on a raspberry pi zero 2 wh?
Hey i have a Neptune 4 can i Connect the Neptun Displayport to an HDMI for my HDMI Display
Good job...
I can't install klipper screen please help me...
i have a lcd screen 4 inch display - c for raspberry pi 3b
I did all the processes but it doesn't work... because...
Can you just run the kiauh script to do this or do you have to redo it all like you’re starting without anything Klipper related installed?
hello, I bought a Hyperpixel 4 touch and unfortunately after installation the screen remains black, I would like to use it as a Klipper interface with Klipper Screen. It is connected on a Raspberry pi 3 B.
What is the motive for KlipperScreen if we cannot load files from usb drive? I place my 3d printer upstairs to another room, Where I don't have Wi-Fi range.
when i install it a for some reason my wifi goes out is there a reason for this?
In your opinion what is the all around best when it comes to quality and all around the best the creality cr10s pro v2 vs the flsun super racer
cr10s v2 all day,its bigger too
Really want to do this on my Ratrig mInion. Planned to use a voron small screen but the Issue is the supplied pi is using all the usb plugs. Any other options I could consider?
The voron small screen you mean the small fysetc or LDO screen with the scroll wheel? I believe there are some small screens that may be able to get over and video over ribbon cable that may be worth looking into. Check out the 4.3” from waveshare.
@@ModBotArmy yes the fysetc screen. Looks to be complicated to get that working so liking your path. May just upgrade the pi when they become easier to be had.
My elegoo 4 have no hdmi what can i do ?
If you don't have a touch screen (for example a PC monitor) you can use keyboard and mouse!
Thats wild but super cool if you have a spare monitor laying around. I love how versatile Klipper keeps proving to me it is.
When entering the password in Putty it keeps saying access denied despite both the user name and password being correct. I can login on Octoprint just fine but not on Putty. Do you have an idea for what is wrong?
Do you have any sources for Raspberry PIs?
I don’t. Other than the raspberry pi locater website/Twitter. I tried locally a couple of times but struck out every time.
You can keep an eye on rpilocator or you can backorder from DigiKey for delivery in late fall (I think)
@@jdl3408 Hey thx! I had forgotten about DigiKey.
I installed Klipper screen with kiauh, using the exact same screen. It says it installed Klipper screen, but my pi / touchscreen show the pi terminal with login. I tried rebooting the pi, with the same result.
me too, but no answer?
Wow, still no answer for this 4 months later....
I had a bad touch screen. I plugged the pi into a regular monitor and it worked. The same company sent me another, and it was also broke. I wouldn't recommend buying from this manufacturer
does that require gui to be installed on linux host?
@gator_fz sorry, I can't remember how I got past this command prompt problem. Seems like it was a permission problem.. I don't use the touchscreen anymore. The first one I got was broke. They sent me another one, and it completely quit working after a couple of month's. I would NOT buy this touchscreen.
I needed one additional step to make this work. Maybe I just missed it in the video. Hope this helps if anyone's having any issues.
sudo bash -c "echo needs_root_rights=yes>>/etc/X11/Xwrapper.config"`
Fully customisable is a bit of a stretch. Don't get me wrong I love Klipper screen but it's definately NOT fully customisable.
yeah im trying to figure out how to rotate the screen now, and struggling. I have seen the rotate line in the config file but its not working for me.
Lol on the v0 the screen looks so huge
LMAO I know. I have been using old windows tablets to run Klipper and KlipperScreen and they look huge on most printers but against the V0 it is basically the same size haha.
@@ModBotArmy I was sort of hoping this video was about that old Windows tablet. I seen you show it off on Twitter.
@@jon9947 I may make a separate video on that. It is a bit more complicated but not terribly. I have really been liking that method though.
I. keep wondering when this whole Klipper setup environment will migrate to something more 2024 instead of 1995.
Skill issue?
We have tons of old android phones and shitty tablets, end their life cycle somewhere in trash. It makes more sense to me use one of them as a KlipperScreen.......
Add this to make it work .....
Sudo nano /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config (add new line) needs_root_right=yes (reboot)😊
