Chris, you are amazing. In one video I learned how sensual removing a screen cover can be, and heard the famous "just trust me" line a few times. All kidding aside you did a great job on explaining and walking through a very complicated process. I don't think I would ever try two printers off of one screen, as I have stopped prints on the wrong printer from my PC running multiple printers - it can be too confusing for an old guy.
Thanks. Chris, still learning good stuff from you. About a year ago I purchased an Amazon Fire 8 HD to run KlipperScreen; I run it as an exported display. Setting it up is far from as easy as what you just did but I like that the screen as no physical connection to the printer.
Awesome! My second V2.4 included a 5" screen and I really like it. The first touch screen UI that isn't a pain! My first V2.4 has an ERCF attached, but still had the old 12864. Which was fine, till I added the ERCF. I didn't realize how easy it was to control 2 machines from one screen! The machines sit right next to each other, so not a big deal. But oh boy! does Klipper Screen Happy Hare Edition make using the ERCF a lot easier! Thanks for another helpful, to the point, yet detailed video!
jsut a tip for the users who use the waveshare model. changing the orientation works only if you add the two lines at the end of the config.txt file dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-7inch
Thank you for another great tutorial! I am still on the fence about adding KlipperScreen to my printers. For now, I am quite happy running both Klipper and Mainsail directly from an old laptop. The bonus is that my laptop has a touchscreen (HP TouchSmart TM2) 😊
I have a tiny touchscreen that I got bundled with a Pi4 case, it works via GPIO, I wonder if I have a prayer of ever getting it to work with klipper, I might try it.
Great Video Chris! I have the BTT pi TFT50 and it has a button on the back to flip the display 180 degrees. Kind of weird the BTT pi TFT43 doesn't have that option.
Just gave me the idea to run kiauh on a Linux phone running mobian and now I'm running my printer through a phone with klippercsreen and Webcam built in
I wouldbt say it's the easiest way to add a touch screen. The easiest way is 1: DON'T USE A PI, that's number one because it makes everything easier. 2: buy touch LCD and plug in 3: should be obvious but just open the webpage full screen mode 4: Have a beer or something and adnire your work, oh and look at that heat map right on your printer screen and what's that? The 3D Gcode viewer is fully functional, say what?
Almost forgot, klipper screen works as well if you don't want the webpage. It will be in the start menu, just click it. I used an HP Mini G3 with 7" touch LCD, the two combined were less than a PI 4 with all accessories like case, fan, storage, power supply, etc. It's obviously much more powerful but based on some things I've read, that isn't obvious to everyone. Pi is only better if you're limited to that form factor and required physical space. If you can go just a little bit bigger, the Pi is dead last on that list. For the accelerometer, you plug it into a USB port and skip a bunch of steps in the docs that only apply if you're using a PI. Far easier.
I have a Mellow FLY LCD5 connected to a Pi 5, i think i have the correct orientations now but it is only registering some touch correctly, could the resolution/scale of the touch be off?
@@ChrisRiley In KlipperScreen settings you can make it go black (but black with still backlight on). Someone said that v2.1 screen has this fixed but can't confirm yet (ordered it to test and waiting). BTT support when asked about v2.1, after initial "need to check with colleague", went silent even after "pings"...).

Anyone else bobbing their head? I feel like 90% of the world doesn't appreciate when people break out in song verses because someone else said something that was word for word from a song. I mean, it's not like we started the shenanigans.

Lol, thanks Dave. I get a little punchy myself sometimes with multiple printers on a single screen.
Even though I personally have no use for klipper right now, it’s cool to watch you explain this.
Thanks Sergio. Happy New Year!

That's cool! I've been working on something similar. Thanks for sharing!

That sounds like an awesome configuration! We got a video coming up where we get really creative with Klipper Screen. Stay Tuned! Thanks for watching
Thanks for making this, Chris.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I had never used Klipper Screen, and assumed it was just a graphical/touch version of the locally connect display. I have learned something!
I love it when a plan comes together!!! Thanks Joel

The touchscreen is a fun little gadget but if your laptop is working for you... 🙂

Those are kind of slow and unresponsive, (like an old garmin gps) but they work, and i've seen quite a few in use
Thanks guys! Good luck with your projects!
And done... Thank you!

Great video, extremely helpful!
Glad you think so! Thanks

thank you,, that was helpful !
Glad it helped!
Hi Chris, is it possible to make a stand alone version with its one pi, so it could be moved around or used in a nother room👍
YES!!! And I plan on doing a video on exactly that! KLIPPER REMOTE!!!

Good call, maybe the easiest way to add one to the Rpi. :)
I have a Mellow FLY LCD5 connected to a Pi 5, i think i have the correct orientations now but it is only registering some touch correctly, could the resolution/scale of the touch be off?
It could be off, it really depends on the driver that gets used. It seem really hard to get the correct one.
That screen doesn't support DPMS management - you can't turn off backlight via software :-( For screensaving / idle purposes.
I noticed it didn't do that, it cycles thought colored background instead, kinda strange.

This is an alternative to octodash correct.
In some regard, yes but they do slightly different things.
@@ChrisRiley I'm not looking to utilize Klipper as I will be using this on my Mk3s+Prusa with mmu3 which I absolutelty love.

can you run your klipper macros from kilpperscreen?
Yes. You can even hide some macro's on the display (or in the config file) when needed.
