- The Westin Peachtree Plaza, formerly the world's tallest hotel, was built in 1975. The building was designed by famous Atlanta architect, John Portman (who also designed the Marriott Marquis, Peachtree Center, SunTrust Plaza, and also America's Mart.) These elevators do tend to sway during travel, but they are still very safe. The system was functional even after a tornado hit the building earlier this year (although the tornado did take out the scenic elevators). These elevators serve floors 5-9, 12-14, and 45-72, although the top floor is usually locked to encourage people to enter the SunDial restaurant through the scenic elevators. These elevators were modernized by Otis in the early 2000's and were some of the first to feature Otis's LCD floor indicators, introduced in conjunction with IBM in 2000.

Nice!
that sounds like an interesting story
I was in elevator number 1 while in the March,07 tornado. It was groaning and creaking like a cow giving birth but we got all the way down. Thank the Lord.
9 is the parking or 9 is for meeting rooms? The walls and the other background looks like the parking floor
9 has meeting rooms
What does it say below the number in the hall indicators?
Floors 5-9, 12, 14, 45-72
45-70. 72 is the sun dial and 71 is probably the kitchen where chefs cook food
Before modernization, did these have Lexan buttons?
Reset the elevator? What exactly does that mean?

It's mostly that high, I believe I found out that 1-4 are sublevels and the 5th floor lobby is street level.I think there is a 73rd floor so that means there are 69 floors at or above street level and 4 that are like basements but are labeled as positive numbers perhaps so the building is considered to have 73 stories instead of 69 and 4 basements.
4 is the ground floor
Floors 1-3 are the staff parking I think
73 is probably the roof like it’s on top of the building
Seriously! This elevator is very fast than in San Francisco.

Series 4 Fixtures.
