Next to the LA Zoo there is the "old LA Zoo" that was closed and abandoned in the 60s. The old zoo is open for visitors but there are no animals, just abandoned buildings and empty cages and animal enclosures. You can walk into the cages and enclosures and stand where the animals spent their lives, on display for visitors. Standing in the enclosure you really feel the sense of captivity and non-freedom the animals must have felt. The enclosures are cold and tiny and unfriendly, feels like a claustrophobic open air prison.
agree and disagree. there are zoos that have animals that are going extinct so it’s best to keep them where they are. they get taken care of instead of killed out in the wild. i agree that they shouldn’t have them in such small places they should make the exhibits bigger but again MANY of these animals are going extinct. if there wasn’t such thing as a zoo we wouldn’t have many of those beautiful animals right now.
