Hello from Scotland,first may i say i just stumbled across your wonderful today,and may i say i love your style.I have been so lucky to have seen Chris 8 times and i have met him 5 times as my brother is one of the sound engineers at the venue where Chris played.Chris has approx 32 albums and all are different kind of genre,also may i say if you want to go deep play his album song,not the singles,as yourself and many others will have the awesome music of Chris.I am 60 and have most of his Cds,how can i request nothing To Fear by Chris? IMHO its a song that could be played today.Best wishes from Scotland,Ps you have another subscriber.

British band formed in 2016 called “ Sleep Token” phenomenal, not your ordinary guys & I’ll leave it at that , they have blown up& their concerts are sold out immediately.

That is the second remixed version from Josephine, more dynamic than the first one. Idem about On the Beach, the one used for the video clip, by the way faster than the first version.
85/86 disco may have gone but dancing and clubbing were still really popular, trust me nn this. I knew you would love Chris.
With that Disco Ball, I thought we would get Gloria Gaynor. Patti Labell or Earth Wind and Fire. :-) But we got the sweet sound of Chris Rea.

Thats the Summer 88 version of On the Beach, which is much faster than the 1986 version. The full album version from New Light theough Old Windows is the best.
Yes, sadly I made a mistake there. The album version is my favorite of the 2 by a mile!

Just say and I'll give you the first say, ten? I love sharing the love of music. I think I would literally wither away without music. Music is life. Mum is a music lover going back to her childhood. She loves all types of stuff, Dylan, Queen, Caruso, CSN&Y Cat Stevens (and my dad looked like Cat's twin brother, I kid you not). so many she loved. She is still here with us (and dad) but is profoundly deaf now and her greatest sorrow is that she can no longer hear it. Some of what I listen to, I listen for my mum.
Life story in one paragraph, so sorry I went on a bit, it just breaks my heart for her.

CHRIS REA's guitar (a Fender Stratocaster which he called "Pinky"!!!) blues playing is still just as catchy. We hear the soul more than the technique... and that is perhaps the quality of a "real" musician. "The Road To Hell", "Josephine", "On The Beach", "Fool (If You Think It's Over)", "Looking For The Summer" and "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat" are staples of his production. It is to wonder how this author-composer-interpreter could pass so much under the radars. Alas, not recognized at its fair value. And what a voice! But, in my opinion, his masterpiece remains "Tell Me There's a Heaven". Composition, orchestration (symphonic type) and lyrics (the theme commands introspection) of a depth that draws tears. Rea the bluesman of the road, of love and pleasure gives way here to the benefit of Rea the mortal man whom the big question challenges. In short: Sublime! Impossible to listen to this song and come out of it intact, unchanged. It inevitably leaves traces. Thanks.

Nice choice with Chris Rea today. I do like both of these songs, great vibes. Maybe the next time you choose Chris, I recommend “Working On It”, which is a rocker!! Also “Texas” is an epic song, it has some amazing slide guitar. These two songs are my favorites of his, although “Road to Hell” is right up there too.

Definitely a lot more to explore… he does have a pretty vast discography!! I saw a notice about Depeche Mode going on tour. They’re going to be in Chicago in November, and I see four cities in California, the first week of December. Not sure where you are out west, but if close to you, I bet you’ll try to see them.
Oh you bet right! Since you know they are my favorite band of all time, I've already snatched tix for 2 shows in December! Normally I would do more and follow them around lol but circumstances/commitments are different now...Can't wait!!
Glad you dove into Chris Rea again. Chris's voice and the instrumentation are great, but Josephine is a bit too repetitious for my taste. On the Beach is more to my liking and definitely deserves a platinum rating. But, my personal favorites show off his raspy voice and slide guitar better than these two. A few off the top of my head are "And You My Love", "Nothing To Fear" and "The Blue Cafe". Thanks, take care

@@retroreactions.... Asia had some very underrated albums and songs that were not the big hits everyone knows. In addition to the Arena album (above mentioned), I'd highly suggest "Who Will Stop The Rain' from the Aqua album, then maybe "Kings Of The Day" from the Aura album

@@retroreactions....No, it's not the 88 version either (or the other 88 version). It's an edited version of a French remix that replaced the original album version in 1987 and was on all subsequent versions until the 2 disc releases in 2019. Easy mistake to make as most versions of the album have this version. He released no less than five distinct versions of this one between 85 and 88 and another in 2008.
