The week Chris Rea debuted in the Top 40 with "Fool", only about 15 of the 40 songs might be considered "disco". The rest included rock (Foreigner), soul (Commodores), easy listening (Barbara Streisand), comedy (Steve Martin), & country (Kenny Rogers). Chris himself had disco hits like "Diamonds" and "Let's Dance" because variety is the spice of life.

I'd strongly recommended the song "Texas" from his "The Road To Hell" album (he actually has two different songs titled "Texas"), one of my favorites, despite the somewhat bizarre lyircs, it's a great hybird of his dreamy and bluesy rocking sides all in one song and really showcases his voice in all of its glory.

Chris Rea is a tremendous artist; he has this deep nuanced voice that can alternate on a scale between gravelly and coarse(I used to call it "drain opener") to a luscious throaty croon. On top of this, he is simply put, one of the best Slide guitarists in the world, period.
