    People talk about cutting the ball but never show it, so thank you.

    Thanks so much for breaking it down 'Barney style'. I remember Barry Bonds mentioning this, but I never understood it. I appreciate this and will give it a go this upcoming season.

    Great tips! Something I'll work on when I get some BP in. Hoping our leagues will be able to open up here in MTL to play this year, otherwise I'll be shopping for a tee.

    Will have to try some, I’ve been cranking the ball pretty good but I want to be better. First season of soft pitch this year! Never played before but I played baseball my whole life, been thinking I’ve always had a softball swing 😂😂😂

    Great video Jay! Been practicing my cut oh boy have I been struggling hahahah! Definitely have to keep on working on it cause when I do connect it properly the ball flys off the bat! Thanks again 🥎

    Great video brother. Thing that helped it "click" for me was starting with high hands like you said, and then trying to make contact with the bat head above my hands at contact as opposed to in baseball where the barrel is generally below the hands at the point of contact.

      Exactly! Two totally different swings, happy this helped you out.

    Does your swing change if you are trying to keep it in the park, or do you still try to cut? Our league has a home run limit so unless there are runners on most of the time we are just trying for a base hit.

    You missed bad for a while. How long did it take you to consistently cut the ball?

  • @edwinmosquea9313

    Real high quality hitting in baseball consist of the same idea, hitting the ball dead middle will get u a hard hit knuckleball or top spin which is a power hitter biggest enemy. This should be ur swing no matter the game. Including modified softball. Slicing the ball downward and forcing the ball to spin backwards isn’t only great for deep fly balls the craziest line drives come of a sliced swing the difference is pretty big in distance and the way ball travels.

    You think benching 500lb helps your distance too? lol

  • @DrunkDrynasty

    Dude, you freakin kill those balls! Never seen a line drive float like that. This is my first year of slowpitch and I am on the struggle bus😂. My first night I hit 6 for 7 with 2 over the fence. I was thinking man this is easy. Since then I’ve been hitting mostly under 500, and rarely hitting home runs. I played baseball from little league until 20 years old. I was a pretty good hitter in baseball, I hit lead off in high school. I am having a hell of a time “forgetting” my baseball swing and applying a cut swing. But your videos are helpful. Thank man!

    How’s it going Jason, I was wondering do you tightly grip the bat or let it just hang loose in the hands?

    • @jasonlegault
      @jasonlegault  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can have loose hands until the point you start your swing, then I would tighten up, depending on your grip as well.

    I have been avoiding hitting off a tee as they all seem too short - what one is in your video?

    • @jasonlegault
      @jasonlegault  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tanner Tee, you can put an egg cart or anything under it to make it higher also.

    Seems like swinging up and hitting the ball low would put a back spin on it to???

    • @Corbots80
      @Corbots80 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want a pop up, that is the way to do it

    • @DrunkDrynasty
      @DrunkDrynasty ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One would think, but for some reason swinging at an upward angle to counter the downward angle of the pitch does NOT work nearly as well. It results in knuckleballs and topspin if anything.

  • @focusppl8426
    @focusppl8426 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So basically you're saying you either pop up or hit a bomb....we get it😉

      Nah line drive hitter all my life - a clean shot [cut] travels well with less 'muscle' and an occasional sacrifice fly will carry crazy or out with the cut. Pushing 70 and changed my swing after seeing the travel on the ball when inadvertently cutting - not about age its technique that creates pace - Guess at my age, suppose I could be considered a 'pace maker' ...

    A visual graphic/video of the swing would be so much better.

    This is what Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds talk that they do when they swing. Everyone seems to not get it

    Definitely being 250lb full of mass you could hit with one hand and it will still go out. Tired of these videos giving the small guys false hope. Been there done that. I Worked out hit bombs. Quit for 7 yrs came back no workouts. Now I hit base hits. Working out sport specific is key. Just saying

    • @this1person1
      @this1person1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true, with the quality of today's bats. I've seen the smallest guys hit 350+ with a solid cut ball off the sweet spot of a torch or freak.

      I'm 180 and don't workout. I have a lot of neck and back problems. I swing smooth with good technique and hit bombs
