    Great video. I'm newer to photography and only have entry level equipment but ive just started shooting my sons high school (american) football games and i find myself really enjoying sports photography. Its so exciting to be on the field right up close to the action and getting to see, and hear the players emotions and reactions. And the boys are also super excited to get something better than a sideline cellphone picture. I appreciate your videos as a newbie because i learn so much about positioning and angles

    Yes behind the scenes, don't matter what camera you use that's a personal thing. What I find interesting is how different people do there work day. Any sports will be helpful 👍

    If I use a 1DX-i and a 70-200 2.8 for sports, do you recomend shooting with a 2x extender, or is it better to shoot clean lens and crop instead do you think?

    Great video Rob. Do you often find you've send in some terrific action photos from a game, and get frustrated to see that only the goal celebration images are ever used? As a sports photographer, I'd much prefer to see a good action shot of a full blooded tackle used than the usual mundane shot of a goal celebration. Whilst its satisfying to see your images appearing on print or online, I often question why certain images are used over others.

    On the R6 were you using the eye tracker and does it work when the players are crowded together?

    • @RobSambles
      @RobSambles  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No - single point centre for me on sports. It's good, but too jumpy for sports in my experience

      Are you happy with the performance of the R6 with this older lens. I was testing yesterday my 400 2.8 with the R6ii and the 1DXii and the 1DXii was performing much better (higher framerate and more shoots in focus). I must admit the light was really bad and I had to use very high ISO. I will further investigate this during the next day game on Sunday.

    Hi Rob! Hope you’re well?
    Loving the videos thank you!
    Just need a bit of advice please! If you had the choice of a Canon 1D IV with around 150k shutter count or a Canon 1DX with just under 1,000,000! (Yes 6 0’s!) I am fairly new to sports photography and on a really tight budget so both around £300!
    Thank you!

    • @chankwanting
      @chankwanting ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's still quite a few shooting with 1DX. You don't really see anyone with 1D or 1Ds. They're all out of support by Canon, but you're much more likely to be able to get the 1DX repaired than the 1D4. Given the price you're quoting, I can guess where you're looking. They offer six-month warranty, so that should mitigate some of the risk of the high shutter count. For what it's worth, I bought a 1DX2 from them this time last year with similar shutter count and it's still doing its job after a whole season.

    • @RobSambles
      @RobSambles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 1dx is better definitely but be prepared that it might need a new shutter at some point
