Can you add music please. If people don't want it they can turn it off. But music really brings these old films even more to life and brings out even more beauty.
Colleen Moore, the quintessential flapper! Amazing that optical sound was tested in 1923 and 2 strip Technicolor was also around then. It would have been technically possible to produce a colour talkie in 1923.
I feel like big stars felt that color movies were a gimmick! Like how there were a lot of "silent" movies, but they had soundtracks like WHY BE GOOD or OUR DANCING DAUGHTERS. until the 1950s color movies were regarded as below for great artists.
Thank you for presenting this melodramatic look at ambition gone wrong, starring Colleen Moore in one of her early film roles. While a star during the silent film era, Moore's career was extended into the talkies, but made fewer films in the 30's. Unfortunately, she met the same fate as her silent film contemporaries when the studios felt that her voice wasn't good enough for sound. I saw her do a 1934 Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. film on TV, Success at Any Price, and, while doing a supporting role, I felt that she had a sweet sounding speaking voice. Oh, well, it's all history now.
Watch faux news. You will feel right at home. Amazing how you and six others find the views and behaviour of almost a century ago acceptable. Pathetic fool.
This silent movie is extraordinary. Fantastic images and acting about what Hollywood, and life, was like almost 100 years ago.
You mean Broadway / NYC
Thanks man! I appreciate you correcting me on this.
@@johnpierson8398 Lol, no biggie. Enjoyed the movie! Love the fashions. Except for the landlady who wore super-big blouses like tablecloths!

run some music yourself from another you tube page or music app/site
@@arooogaa It is speculated that this film was released with a vitaphone soundtrack originally, but we don't know for sure.
Wonderful. thank you. we are so lucky any of these films have been saved and preserved.

She managed a magnificent second career after movies, though in high finance. A great woman and a fine role model for women [and men] everywhere.
@@smokingbrush2498 That's interesting. Didn't know Colleen Moore did finance after her movie career ended. Kudos to her for her perseverance.
@@Celluloidwatcher Yes; she seems to have been a level-headed, amiable woman. She is both delightful and informative in her interviews.
Saw her Doll's House in Kansas or was it Nebraska or maybe Wisconsin? Too old to remember!!!
Macy's been around for over one hundred years. Nice movie
They’re not kidding when they say “silent” film.
GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!
Ha, the love-sick painter neighbour makes me think of a cross between Bela Lugosi and Liberace!
Watch Her in ORCHIDS AND ERMINE on TH-cam!!
Ella Cinders and Why Be Good are both available too
Hey, where’s the music?
Music was a big part of the silent films why doesn't this have music?

So refreshingly politically incorrect. Love it.
