    Oh my God! I can't believe that I watched this film exactly 100 years after its release!
    I really like this film. 🖤

      I love this film also. I love the Chaplin and Keaton silent comedy films, but films like "True heart Suzie" are more realistic to what times were like back then, where the Chaplin and Keaton films relied so much on exaggerated slapstick, everyone knocking each other around, etc. for comic effect, don't get me wrong, some of them are pretty damn funny. "True heart Suzie" and many of the films with the Gish sisters, and others of similar nature, are quite touching, and like in the title of this film, had heart

    Lillian Gish was not a flashy beautiful actress, but those beautiful eyes of hers were so expressive. She was so pretty even in her old age. Love the clothes from this time. Eduardian?

      1919 was a few years past the Edwardian era but this does embrace much of the holdover that existed. Not everyone was eager to change even after entering the 1920s. Those wild beehive hairstyles were definitely late teens but soon girls would start bobbing their hair and raising skirts. This film gives an excellent glimpse of the transition to the 20th century.

    Such a wonderful movie! Loved it! It takes you on an emotional journey that has it ups and down, and I was afraid it was going to end with Susie forever losing William, but just at the last minute all pulls together to create a Happy Ending! I will sleep a lot easier knowing that things all worked out and that love can conquer all!! No audio but it was like they were speaking the words clearly in my ears!

    Great movie, but how could anyone not choose Lillian Gish in the first place? She's an angel and drop dead gorgeous here.

    ¡Qué gran actriz y qué mujer tan bella! Su aparente simplicidad, unida a una bondad de corazón sin límites, es de un enorme atractivo, al menos para mí. Mi mujer era como ella.

    Lillian Gish, a "plain" girl? Yeah, good luck with that.

      By her early 1950s role in the film Night of the Hunter as a rifle toting, child protecting granny, she had attained that status ... with iconic "true grit."

    My son's father carved our names in a tree near my father's home. In a park. Taco loves Lisa. I worked as a hostess in a Mexican restaurant ,and I called my ex taco or sparky :)

    Great movie. This completely silent version is best (other versions have an inappropriately modern soundtrack). Does Pine Grove, Indiana (where this supposed to be) actually exist?

      Never heard of Brightville or Pine Grove..(I'm SW of Indianapolis) but lots can change in 100 years...edit: just checked, there is a Pine Grove near Indiana Pennsylvania 😅🤣

    So sad that the main 2 actors (not Lillian Gish) both died not long after this movie. :*(

  • @aadamtx
    @aadamtx 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Robert Harron and Clarine Seymour both died young and tragically within months of each other, she of an intestinal strangulation when only 21 and he of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound when only 27. Seymour was cast by Griffith and filmed quite a bit of footage for WAY DOWN EAST before taking ill; her scenes were reshot with actress Mary Hay.
    Amazingly TRUE HEART SUSIE was filmed concurrently with BROKEN BLOSSOMS, with both films starring Lillian Gish.
