Jack Pickford doesn't get enough credit for his acting abilities. This was an interesting film, 19th century morality structure set in the hedonistic 'naughty' 20's.
Jack Pickford`s first wife, actress Olive Thomas, died in 1920 aged 25, after mistakenly drinking mercuric chloride which her husband was taking as treatment for his syphilis. It was deemed `accidental poisoning` & her death made headlines worldwide. Pickford married again two years later & for a third time in 1930 before dying 7 years later at age 37. What puzzles me is that after the publicity of his first wife`s death it was common knowledge that Pickford was suffering from syphilis, incurable before antibiotics, but that knowledge failed to deter the two women who subsequently married him.
That was a rumor to sell newspapers. There is a great article online titled "you don't know jack" about jack pickford and it is wonderfully researched and also covers all these lies.
That was very sweet, I'm binge -watching silent movies, mostly with my own music,..and having fun!
I watched this a year ago. It really is a delightful movie.

It's not actually an established fact that Jack had syphilis.
