I will give you reason but you should have economics knowledge on this topic , the main reason behind demonetization is "financial inclusion" ,now what is financial inclusion it is more inclusion of cash to banks so that this money can be given as loan to industrialist with less instrest rate , because rate swing indirectly proportional to amount present in banks , so if loan is available at low rate then more entrepreneur will get motivated to invest money in industries which will be helpful to indian economy , since most of rural people have most of their money in cash form which is unuseful , so govt directly cannot order them to invest that money in bank so they have used the name of black money , in reality indians keeps their black money in form of "gold" not in form of cash they are not fools , the black in cash is around 3-4% only.
