One thing to add, is that when you're removing the old line you can push the line back up, over the fish bit and stick a pair of (old/cheap) scissors through the fish and cut the all the line at once. Do this over a bin and it will ensure that the discarded line is cut up nice and small so that there's no chance of it harming wildlife when it ends up in landfill.

Incredibly you can by a flyrod for £20... So you start looking at items like this with some scepticism. I make my own tippet tidy, which is basically a home-made 'monomaster' - ie a hair curler in a section of 60ml syringe, with a slot cut in the side... Then with the £18.00 I saved I can buy all the pick'n'mix a kid could wish for, and I got enough curlers to make a dozen, so my mates each have one as well... I should make a video of that... haha
