I use the mono master too. Bulky yes, but was a lot less expensive then smith creek. Now, not so much. Always hated jamming line in my pockets and never felt good about even discarding small pieces of line, which the mono master is good at handling. Did have the cap of the mono master pop off when throwing my waders around (hang from suspenders), but a piece of tape has remedied that.
Very true. I think Simms has a little trash can type thing which would do well for clippings, but for bigger pieces of line I like the way the Smith Creek tool works.

now if only I can find something good for clippings. i find my self to have. more clippings than full lines
