During the 2014 Monza Rally Show, M-Sport brought in Italy one of their new 2015 Ford Fiesta RS WRC, which was driven by the famous MotoGp Legend Valentino Rossi. Apart from the differtent aesthetic looks, the car has aroused many suspicions among the public and the other drivers because of it's very very loud sound and its amazing acceleration while exiting the U-Turns.
If this is true or not it doesn't interest me to be honest. But WOW, the sound of this Ford Fiesta is truly frightening. (You can hear the difference between a normal sounding Fiesta WRC at 2:27).

This is a fantastic video, but this isn't the 2015 Fiesta WRC car. M-Sport don't have a running version as of yet.

Ford really need to sell a production Fiesta or Focus with AWD (and a manual transmission of course). Too bad that'll never happen and there aren't any more rally-inspired production cars currently being made.

No it most certainly wouldn't...
Back when Group b was operating they were faster round a track than the F1 cars of the same era, where as this WRC car couldn't even come close. (due to WRC being heavily regulated and tame + F1 advancing largely.
Group B was banned for being too fast and too dangerous!! Where as now the cars are a 1600 cm3 direct injection turbo engine with a restriction limiting 400 Nm torque and maybe 300-330 BHP.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_B this link states some Group B were over 500BHP and lighter than these WRC cars as they didn't have the minimum weight rule of today.

James Lenton haha dont believe that old myth,gp b cars were no where near as quick as an f1 car.after they were banned within a couple of years the gp A cars were quicker.in 1986 f1 cars were over 1200hp and designed as the fastest way around a track.gp b were just cars with powerful engines.todays wrc cars are far quicker due to advances in technology
James Lenton They most certainly would, the modern WRC cars are way more advanced in terms of suspension, gearbox, tires, chassis and so on, i just read a big article about certain WRC eras, the cars right now are the fastest so far, not because of the engines power output though but because of the before mentioned aspects. The myth about the Group B beeing quicker than F1 back in the day is not true, on a certain track they tested them (in spain if i remember correctly) they would qualify at the lower pack of the field. Of course the Group B cars had hugely powerful engines and were highly spectacular, if you compare stage times though - they are slower.

it takes 50 milliseconds for a wrc gearbox to change a gear , it takes a good driver and 0.5 sec to change a vertical gear (3-4) just think about that ,

Great fiesta that! The FIA Regulations have killed even rally cross now! The British championship used to be unrestricted, sadly to fall in line with the Euro RAllycross rules restrictors etc need to be fitted. No more 800bhp RS200's or twin turbo metros! I love this firsta though. I wonder what 4WD system it uses? The 4x4 Focus due out 2015/2016 uses an abortion of the Ford Kuga 4x4 system. To me its no RS Focus. Its todays verion of the xr4x4

Question: Are the engines in these rally cars production based, or are they entirely aftermarket race parts? In Nascar for example, those engines only resemble production engines, and are completely custom built where nothing is from the manufacturer.
there built for the cars but they also have parts from the road car as well. so i guess you could say there semi custom engines
Actually they do rebuild the entire engine. They build a new engine mono block and everything . They only stock thing there is the shape of the car
Entirely custom. Funnily enough, a lot of the rally car engines are based off of a block from a diesel car.
detaart yes that's correct but they don't use the exact one from the stock car .... it would be hilarious if they used it ! XD
renato muu Ha, rattle rattle. They use diesel blocks because they are much stronger. Of course, all the internals are forged steel and titanium.

Si ok, va bene che non volevi copiare gli altri millemila titoli di video riguardanti Rossi, ma messo così come l'hai messo tu sa molto di un'ennesima accensione di una polemica quasi fine a se stessa e nauseante da quanto è stata trattata. Il video oggettivamente è tuo e ci metti il titolo che vuoi, però a me è sembrato questo, tutto qua.
giacomegia ah beh se è per quello non posso darti torto, anche se il mio intento non era assolutamente quello di incentivare nuovamente le polemiche ma solo caricare il video che carico ogni anno della Fiesta di Valentino. Di solito lo faccio per restare un po' su quello che la gente cerca e vuole vedere del Monza Rally, giusto per pigliare quelle due/tre visualizzazioni in più sul video. Poi quest'anno è successo quello che è successo, eh vabbè, è anche giusto che tu, e credo molti altri, la pensi come mi hai scritto nel commento.
La soluzione migliore sarebbe stata non caricare questo video adesso ma aspettare un bel po'.

These cars use nothing from the ecoboost engine. It's a 1.8 which is sleeved down to a 1.6..
ziffbobbit wrc rules state they must retain the factory block and head. It is a 1.6 ecoboost engine with custom parts

Because these rev to maybe 9k whereas some motorcycle I4's can rev past 14k. Plus the turbo's muffle the exhaust slightly. I prefer the sound of turbo's and anti-lag. But that's just me.

I4 bikes sound horrible and synthetic IMO, but the Citroen's and Peugeot wrc cars sound kind of like bikes
