“I wrote “One More Second” with Matt Sheehy (Lost Lander, EL VY) with the intention for it to be a kind of answer to Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” or sort of the other side of that conversation. I just wanted to write one of those classic, simple, desperate love songs that sound great in your car.”

I love Matt's voice, love the National. I'm a recovering drug addict and in the lowest point in my life when I was fighting for my life I had one hopeful thought in my mind - 'you have to live to see the National live'. It was the begining of recovery and I'd had gotten other goals since then, but I'm very grateful and I hope Matt or the whole National band will visit Poland in my lifetime. I've been 8 months sober 🥹 and I love this song.

Oh god this gutted me. The love of my life is waiting on a liver transplant and I’m not so sure he’s going to make it that far. I can’t put into words anything regarding the fear and pain. It’s too much. The relationship after 25 years is complicated and we are now separated by distance. I still love him, of course. As he continues to deteriorate, I feel more and more regret for things in the past, especially with Covid-19 happening. I can’t currently travel to see him due to my compromised immune system and own serious life threatening illness. I thought for years that because of my chronic illness I would go first...never thought he’d get sick too. Now the pandemic has come and we all are at risk. I don’t know how I could say anything more about him without losing it and I’m trying to sleep tonight. Thank you, Matt. (SMH I will love you always.)
