I've been down HWY 287 from Fort Worth to Amarillo many times with my wife of 44 years by my side. Now when we make this trip I turn up this song and sing it to her, makes for a good memory. Thank you Leon and K!
I heard this song for the first time with someone very special. He told me it was one of his favorite songs so I decided to include it on my playlist because I really liked him. I once told that guy that he was my "Texas Sun", I heard this song many times and I always felt nostalgic, sad and I imagined this special guy in my life, riding in a convertible car, driving under the Texas sun towards an unknown direction. Today, that he died, I understand why he liked this song and why he left it for me as a soundtrack of our love story... Rest in peace Baby John! ❤

@@KamisatoElias that sounds dreamy - living a few years or months in every country.. but it’s also quite romantic 🙈 I’m sure it’s not as great as in our daydreams, but interesting for sure. So let’s listen to songs and dream for now..
I lived in Texas for two years and I can’t wait to go back. The sun there really is like no other. Had such a warm embrace, it would hug you all day. Some days too hot the only thing you could do is grab some Lone Star tall boys and hop an apartment fence so you could swim in their pool all day. I had an old ford pick up with no AC, the radio always blasting, windows all the way down driving on the highway, and when the sun would set, there was always such a beautiful dusty haze in the air. Every day felt like a dream. Random evenings of hanging out with friends playing guitar hootin n hollerin until the sun would rise, playing pool at a dingy dive bar with $2 pitchers of beer, live music everywhere you’d go, tacos to tide you over at any hour of the day. I miss it so much.
2020 was the longest motorcycle trip I'd taken to date - over 10,000 miles. In Seattle, a friend introduced this song to me over a quiet evening of whiskey. It stuck with me for months for the rest of my time on the road, but it became truly synonymous with that trip for me once I reached the desert states. From Winnemucca into Salt Lake, and from Salt Lake all the way to Colorado, this song rang in my head (and headphones) over and over again. A backdrop of pink and white clay badlands, distant blue hills, sparkling sand and gravel, power lines shimmering in the distance. An abandoned two lane highway, smooth as glass and as far and straight as the eye can see to the end of the horizon. A cloudless sky, a happy motor...the wind at your back...

This song brings you the open road when you feel trapped , reminding you there is a whole life ahead of you , reminds you of love to give and love within , am so grateful to this man for this song am so grateful for synchronicity in life so I found it at this time such a blessing , it is now on repeat daily : ))
Went shopping for some clothes a couple of weeks ago. While being in one of the shops, I heard this song playing in the background. I had never heard it before, but I immediately fell in love with it and instantly shazamed it. Later I came here and found so many excellent suggestions for songs with a similar mood down in the comments. Texas Sun and Thinking of a Place by War on Drugs are now among my most influential songs of 2021, and I'm so happy I found them. If I didn't go shopping that day, or even just at a slightly different time, none of these songs would be accompanying me today. Makes me think of how many things in life just happen... when they really should. Not sure if that makes much sense, but the feeling makes me immensely grateful for being alive.
I was already into this song through BBC RADIO 6, when I was shopping at my local Tesco which had started piping music through lock down, and this song came on, I was blown away, I had to hang around until it had finished playing.

Come visit Houston and I'll show you around. We love people from all backgrounds around here. Texas is a wonderful state.. Houston, Austin, the Hill Country, and much more to experience
This song reminds me of when I drive up to Lubbock TX. to go to school. Hundreds of miles of open road, just coasting along, watching all the small towns disappear in your rear view, makes me miss driving those highways.
I ´m from Argentina, spring time is coming but still the weather is quite windy... today I put this record on, felt like warm... I wish I could visit Texas some day...
They played this in Hillsboro, TX on eclipse day - April 8th. I came there from Belgium and when this song came on, I just had to Shazam it. What a vibe. Love it out here, nice people (though not in traffic) and great weather. Lovely place for a long road trip.
When you press pedal to the metal, not looking in the mirror. you know that you have already lost her forever. Still, pretending to be a tough guy, you wipe away tears as you drive into the unknown
my boyfriend couldn't wait to show me this song after it released. khruangbin and leon are one of our favorite texan artists. i went shopping at heb the day this came out and listened to it on repeat for the hour and a half i shopped. it's genuinely one of the best songs i've ever heard. i love it so much
It's the 70's strings that underpin the ambient sounds, complimented with his amiable voice that draws you in....living you with a feeling of great comfort while deeply yearning for the song to never end ❤
This song captures that feeling one gets whilst standing on a balcony on a late afternoon when the sun is orange and a light breeze passes you by every now and then. That feeling you get when you realize that whatever problems you have can wait because this moment makes everything feel like it's going to be okay.
I want more music that speaks like this song specifically. I remember first hearing it as I came home seeing an unlikely collaboration between these two artists that were my favorite artists. then they dropped this song, I pulled into my driveway while indulging in its beautiful atmospheric melody. I was swept away and was yearning for that desert and a place I've never been to... Now all I wanna do is visit Texas and the desert again. My gosh music is powerful.
A year ago I lost a very good friend at this time. Nothing begins to describe the amount of pain and loss I still experience when I think about him. I miss my buddy. May this tune find you and guide to back around home where there is warm love, just like the sun...
Funny how many comments think this is a song by Leon Bridges. The band is called Khruangbin, Leon was invited to provide vocals, and he did an A+ job at it.
Well the two together is magic, Khraungbin alone hasn't failed me yet. I appreciate Leon taking his music in new directions on the flip side. He still does his thing well.
I can listen to this whole day , and I imagine myself with my future lover on a long car ride just chillng and smiling at each other while listen to the music
Couple of weeks ago my job sent me to get certified in automotive calibrations, went all the way down to Houston (for me this was a 3 1/2 hour drive. This was one of the songs I played on the way down there, drinking coffee and having a few smokes. It was just me my car, music and my thoughts. I’ll always treasure that trip. Something about being alone on the road is just comforting. This song will always remind me of the trips I’ve taken across this great state.
It's July 14th 23 in England, the rest of Europe is having a mad heatwave, I'm sitting here with a hoodie on indoors because it's cold. This song warmed me up, never heard it before.

Just heard this for first time on the Blue River for the Full Moon Float...another canoeist way ahead played it and I was instantly transported back to 1976 floating down the Jack Forks and Current River for a 3-day bluegrass festival with parents and sibs...bands played and jammed day and night at our campground...while canoeing, you heard the music traveling on the water for miles...thanks for invoking some of my best teen memories! Play on play on! 🎶 💕
This was the first time I've heard this song as TH-cam recommended it...I was literally just talking to someone I'm interested in about running away to Texas a few days ago. I immediately began to daydream about riding down the road with her in the passenger seat as this song plays in the background.
I love how music creates this unique collaborative space for its lovers... space somewhere in the forth dimension in an undiscovered galaxy... Countries, nationalities, races and genders are all here tuned in, enjoying the sweetness of this sound. This is just great and I can’t be more excited to listen to the upcoming EP in February🎼🥁🎸

you made me laugh out loud, thank you for your comment! loving this sound loads too
Come visit Houston and I'll show you around. We love people from all backgrounds around here. Texas is a wonderful state.. Houston, Austin, the Hill Country, and much more to experience
@@rosarafikova8229 thanks for yours to
This song reminds me of when I drive up to Lubbock TX. to go to school.
The guitar takes you to places where everything is going to be ok.
When you press pedal to the metal, not looking in the mirror. you know that you have already lost her forever. Still, pretending to be a tough guy, you wipe away tears as you drive into the unknown
For those who forgot what Real music sounds like, you're in the right place 🙏🏾♥️🌍
This song has the ability to take to somewhere else, whatever beautiful place you’re imagining, it will take you there.
Used to drive from CO to TX the back way every year for my dad birthday to see the family. This song is EXACTLY what that drive feels like
When I die, I forever want to live within this groove
Hardcore
Right on
🔥🔥🔥💪
my boyfriend couldn't wait to show me this song after it released. khruangbin and leon are one of our favorite texan artists. i went shopping at heb the day this came out and listened to it on repeat for the hour and a half i shopped. it's genuinely one of the best songs i've ever heard. i love it so much
It's the 70's strings that underpin the ambient sounds, complimented with his amiable voice that draws you in....living you with a feeling of great comfort while deeply yearning for the song to never end ❤
This song is the Texas I miss and the Texas I tell everyone about now that I live out of state.

The Texas heavily influenced by Thai guitar music?
@@tinjarir y-y-yes? Is that an issue?
There are many reasons to live life, Khruangbin are one of them
As a long haul truck driver. This hits different when you driving down the road after 1500 miles and you get to Laredo
He has a new song called Laredo…my hometown
where is laredo?
@@SashaKempster South Texas!
This song hits hard! Sitting with my old friends reminiscing on the good old days when we had very little to worry about.
am I the only one who broke into tears ?
unlikely
This song makes me feel so happy free, and loving! It's like nostalgia and futurism wrapped into one.
very well said! I feel the same.
It just sounds purely retro to me
God bless Texas and the good people of Texas ❤️
such a special tune, I travel all over Texas for work, this song just hits different.
Can’t really explain how much I love this song. But it’s perfect.
Never seen Texas and Texas sun and living thousands km far away from USA but this song making me happy...
A year ago I lost a very good friend at this time. Nothing begins to describe the amount of pain and loss I still experience when I think about him. I miss my buddy. May this tune find you and guide to back around home where there is warm love, just like the sun...
Met Leon at the keys lounge here in Fort Worth 5-6 years ago. Really cool guy, he turn me on to this band by doing this song.
More please ... this is a vibe. Denton-born man here saying I am here for this ...
Flat ground, power lines, never ending highways, clouds and blaring sun. Nailed it.
Funny how many comments think this is a song by Leon Bridges. The band is called Khruangbin, Leon was invited to provide vocals, and he did an A+ job at it.
I feared Leon would never produce another song as perfect as River. Happy to be so very wrong!
If he ever releases "Hold On", you're in for a treat. If you're not familiar with it, TH-cam the live performance.
Well the two together is magic, Khraungbin alone hasn't failed me yet. I appreciate Leon taking his music in new directions on the flip side. He still does his thing well.
Jason Froehlich Hold On was amazing, my fav song of his tour
Strangemanoffrance this song is produced by Khruangbin sur
"Bad Bad News," "Shy," and "Georgia to Texas" all came out over a year ago tho...
It appears that whatever Mark Speer touches turns to gold.
Can’t get enough of these guys.
My life’s soundtrack for the past two years.
Completely agree!
I didnt realize until those spotify recaps came out yesterday how much I actually listen to this band haha
A wonderful and unknown tune suddenly in the air...that's why I still love the radio! Greetings from Italy.
I can listen to this whole day , and I imagine myself with my future lover on a long car ride just chillng and smiling at each other while listen to the music
exactly
Why aren't there more people like you?
You don't need anyone in your life to share these moments. Love yourself.
they are every where
Wow hard same !!!
This song is making me appreciate music on a deep level.
me too
some music is that good it takes your mind somewhere else
What took you so long?
Couple of weeks ago my job sent me to get certified in automotive calibrations, went all the way down to Houston (for me this was a 3 1/2 hour drive. This was one of the songs I played on the way down there, drinking coffee and having a few smokes.
It was just me my car, music and my thoughts. I’ll always treasure that trip. Something about being alone on the road is just comforting. This song will always remind me of the trips I’ve taken across this great state.
Awesome pedal of steel and smooth authentic Khruangbin sounds. Awesome Texans.
Absolutely love this song. Makes me love my Texas all over again.
Travelling, endlessly. What a Feeling
This popped up in my recommendations, boy am i glad i clicked it.
It's July 14th 23 in England, the rest of Europe is having a mad heatwave, I'm sitting here with a hoodie on indoors because it's cold. This song warmed me up, never heard it before.
Good luck with the heat buddy

am up in scotland buddy the heatwave is coming apparently anyway so they say lol ,
@@williamwcalder842 Its now 27th, still cold and overcast. Just a day of sunshine would be nice.
Hopeful, lonely, excited, young, dazzled. This song brings back all those feelings I remember when I first moved to Texas in '92.
Khraungbin and Leon together are like Texas and a warm ray of sunshine. 🥰
I remember listening to this in the ol fm radio a long time ago when I went on my first road trip with a girl I liked. Well, 30 years later we’re still married. And I still like the song
Sitting in sunny West Texas, listening to this tune......and loving it :)
Th whole Alpine, Marathon, Big Bend are is spectacular.
@@dereksampson982 Yes, indeed :)
This is such a Texas vibe. I saw them play this song at White Oak in Houston back in November. Such a beautiful night.
I was there too! 🤠
The old legends fall and new start to arise i hope they never stop cranking out bangers like these
You say you like the wind
Blowin' through your hair
Come on, roll with me
'Til the sun goes down
Texas sun
Say you wanna hit the highway
While the engine roars
Well come on, roll with me
'Til the sun goes down
Texas sun, oh yeah
Texas sun
Caressing you from
Fort Worth to Amarillo
Come on, roll with me
'Til the sun dips low
Texas sun
Texas sun, oh girl
Texas sun
When I'm far from home
And them cold winds blow
Stuck out somewhere, with folks I don't know
'Cause you keep me nice, and you keep me warm
Wanna feel you on me
Can't wait to get back there again
Texas sun
Texas sun
Texas sun
Texas sun
You say you like the wind
Blowin' through your hair
Well come on, roll with me
'Til the sun goes down
Texas sun

Oh baby, you're so gorgeous
How about you and me
Take a little trip?
In the big body
Take a ride with me, babe
You by my side
How does it sound
You and I?
Oh, girl
Take a ride with me, babe
You by my side
How does it sound
You and I?
Baby, ooh

That bass line... Eargasm.

Never been a fan of a tropical sun and its energy sucking humidity but energise my spirit beneath a dry desert sun any time... Much love to you all.
Wow this good. Love that soul is coming back w people like Leon and Brittany Howard
Never been to Texas but I know it’s a badass state.
Listening 🎧 this track in a pub while visiting North Ireland 😊 giving chills
This was the first time I've heard this song as TH-cam recommended it...I was literally just talking to someone I'm interested in about running away to Texas a few days ago. I immediately began to daydream about riding down the road with her in the passenger seat as this song plays in the background.
played this when i was driving near hallstatt Austria and till this day this song leaves so many memories and emotions
My daughter who has an old soul had me listen to this song. Now I love it! Love all his songs! Very smooth and makes me free!! Need this feeling now.

I first heard Texas Sun while watching a video of Rhianna’s Super Bowl Halftime show during stage set up. It certainly caught my attention, and I’ve been jamming to it ever since.
Discovered this song while I was riding a Peleton bike!!! Love, love, love this song!!!! Reminds me a little of Bob Seger!
It’s one of those songs you didn’t know you had to hear.
