    Thanks for taking the time to make this video and post it. I have this same scooter, and it is great to see some 'how to' vids like this. Please keep them coming, so we can all keep our 150s going!

    Would you recommend to buy a used one and fix it up? Found one without a muffler and the headlight doesn’t flip but works..

      hell ya! very reliable Japanese scooters, mufflers are scarce i think as are rear turn signals (people break off) but running part are available. the Chinese scooters today are knock offs of this so some parts might cross fit.

    Hello Mike,,, This is Tony and I just got an 86 Elite 150 from my brother that was parked for at least 18 years,, it has 545 original miles and I have been watching several videos on how to started by spraying starting fluid into the carburetor and I have not been lucky, I keep trying couple days later until finally tried to start and noticed that was leaking a brownish fluid under and found out that the coolant was mixed with the oil,,, So I drained the oil and I stopped right there,I don’t have any knowledge on motorcycles or scooters and I was hoping maybe you will help me on what to do. Thank you very much.

      Thanks for commenting. I wonder if it’s just moisture/water from sitting so long? Or is it sure coolant?

    • @antoniotorres6819

      Hello Mike,, this is Tony again, I’m sure is coolant because the air breather hose that connects to the carburetor was also full of coolant and when I drained the oil about one gallon came out and the color was brownish like when coolant mixes with oil. Please see if you can get me some kind of what to do or anyone of your friendly followers would give me an Idea. Thanks again this is Tony from Garland Tx.

      @@antoniotorres6819 well sorry to hear that, with such low miles wouldn't think that would happen. usually that means a bad cylinder head gasket, but there is one other possible thing i see in my manual. coolant runs off the thermostat through a small hose thru the carburetor to heat it up. not 100% but could leak into the engine? Either way needs to come apart. If your not up to the task a motorcycle /scooter shop should have no issue replacing the head gasket and checking the head is not warped from overheating. All the new Chinese scooters are a copy of this engine so this shouldn't be hard to find parts. best of luck, here's a link to the manual online

    How do you take off the parking brake

    • @MikeTheFixer
      @MikeTheFixer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      release it or remove it? release is on the left handgrip, small lever locks into the brake when pulled.removal is cable activated to the front wheel hub. thanks for watching.

    Have you ever had an issue with a humming type noise coming from under the speedometer? Whenever I accelerate, I hear a noise coming from under there

    • @MikeTheFixer
      @MikeTheFixer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sounds like a dry cable. The cable runs from gear at front wheel to speedometer head. This goes for cars, bicycles, brake cables etc. they get dry but some simple wd40 or a penetrating oil will lubricate them again. unscrew at the top and the center metal cable can be slid out and lubricated or at least spray some down the inside, gravity should do the rest.

    Hey mike I have a 1985 Honda elite 150 that I’m having trouble sourcing a battery do you mind letting me know which you have?

    • @MikeTheFixer
      @MikeTheFixer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think as long as you get the dimensions and the battery post on the right size you can get a battery at AutoZone lately. At least mine has motorcycle batteries that small. I think I got mine at eBay , but I’ll check what it is soon

      I have a small collection of batteries from various outlets that didn't fit, but were supposed to. Batterymart was the only place that had the right dimensions

      Yes today standard is, if it fits in your battery box and posts connect easy it will work.

    Hey Mike. . I'm enjoying your videos - thanks for making them. I have a honda elite 150 '86. I know nothing about mechanics but I'm trying to figure it out. I just changed the oil and put in fuel injector cleaner bc it was hesitating. That seemed to work. BUT I now have grey smoke coming off the engine (out of the front part of the seat) after I ride for 15 or 20 minutes. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks so much.

    • @MikeTheFixer
      @MikeTheFixer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for watching. the fuel cleaner did you run it through the tank? right under the front of the seat is the carburetor and air intake, but the exhaust is on the right front side there and could be leaking at the engine gasket. just a couple of possibilities

    • @FunnyKeynoteSpeakerJan
      @FunnyKeynoteSpeakerJan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikeTheFixer thanks! I did put the fuel cleaner in the gas tank. . .I haven't gone thru the whole tank of gas yet but it really made a difference. There's an exhaust pipe coming out the back right side. It's not leaking. But what you're saying is it might be leaking at the engine connection? I'll check it out. THANKS. These scooters are very fun to ride and I love the look of them. . .

    Can you show how to drain the fuel and where to spray the starter fluid ?

    • @bravethewildgaming8139
      @bravethewildgaming8139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually you wanna shoot starter fluid down the air box/air filter passage that is closest to carburetor side.

    • @bravethewildgaming8139
      @bravethewildgaming8139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You also could undo the spark plug and spray a little down the cylinder(but not too much), that way you get it right next to the spark plug for a good ignition to crank and start the scooter up enough to fire up. Too much starter fluid might make it hard to turn over the engine. If that happens, undo spark plug and crank access out, while spark plug is out and make sure at least the spark plug or plug wire is disconnected so any fluid shooting out, won’t ignite from connected wire or plug igniting while cranking
