Thank you Allison. ❤ I am learning so much and even How to become more confident from you. You are a wonderful teacher. I am so glad I found your channel. 🙌
I am so happy that your videos are still here for view. You always inspire me so, so much! I am just coming to art after a lifetime of being told I was not an artist. Who told me? A teacher in middle school who refused to let me into art class because of my very bad realistic drawing that she required as a test. And she still talks in my head all the time. It is time for her to hush. Over the past few years, I have collected tons of supplies. And only produced a few little pieces. You have taught me more in a few short videos than I can explain. Thank you, thank you. Mark making is beginning to open up the doors that were shut all those years ago. 🦋🦋🦋
Wow! that wee pop of red did the trick at the end😁 Thank you so much Alison for your visual and verbal information and instruction. I am learning so much from you, thanks again...... Alioban
Alison,i just happened upon your videos and i have to say that I was unsure about how you would resolve the painting before beginning to use the watercolors. It was remarkably helpful to me to see how you used the negative space and then cropped the painting. Miraculous! Thank you for sharing your wonderful ability to move back into a painting. I sure hope this makes sense.
Had my first go at contour drawing today and I’m very keen to try more. I’ve always felt I was cheating because my draftsmanship is quite weak, but I love creative painting processes. I sense practicing contouring might improve my drawing skills over time, without the misery of repeatedly “failing”. I’m so glad I found your channel.
I really enjoyed this video. I have been really inspired by your videos! You are a good teacher. 😊 I have been a bit stuck in my own paintings- I do well in the beginning phases and then get to a place where I am stuck and can’t finish. Watching your videos is giving me ideas and inspiration! Thank you!!
Very inspiring video with loads of really good techniques to help me to loosen up. I'm encouraged to actually use more experimentation from the start of a new painting such as drawing out on wet paper with a twig and not being too precious rather than just playing and loosening up on separate sheets.
I have discovered that using a small silicone pointy brush is excellent for applying the gum…..and it comes off the brush completely….no more ruined brushes!!
that's a great question: I have materials lists for my courses and often talk about materials in questions that come up on Facebook page Artwork Artplay. If you contact me via my website, I'll send you the materials list for the water media course I taught last spring.

Yes!! Blind contour drawing really improves drawing skills in general--it gets us to really look and it strengthens the eye/hand connection! Have fun.
