Demos and videos on learning to paint in watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media.
Favourite Tools 3.
I continue working on the seascape with layers of paint, applied with a brayer, and Pebeo drawing gum to protect layers of underpainting. I share my palette system: parchment paper over moist paper towel while I am painting and a wet palette to store wet paint.

Ypu are amazing and so generous with your skills, thank u from the bottom of my heart ❤
This is so beautiful. And a very interesting technique I need to try out. Tfs Alison 💗💗💗🙏🙏🙏
Glorious
Absolutely love your work Alison ! Thanks so much for sharing , i so appreciate it! My favourite artist on youtube 😍
Thank you so much! You are such a fantastic teacher, I am glad I found you on here!
glad you found your way here Jamie!
Just gorgeous !!!!! Thank you for sharing!
👏👏👏
I appreciate how you share your amazing techniques. Your explanations/demos are clear and direct. I've learned many great techniques from you. ❤
Thanks!
You're fabulous!
Wow! Such fun and a beautiful outcome.
She isn’t in a hurry=takes her time= finds “uniforming elements or creates them=like curving elements=find more tissue paper…she comes with her pre made collected toys to play with, all black or white and she can “ push things back” too. She simplifies but retains interesting light and darker but interesting few patterns…
Thank you so much for this video.. you explained glazing so clearly for me and it’s inspired me to do a lot more
that is great to hear Sue!
Really fabulous tutorial, i love each process. THANK you 💐💐💐💐💐🤣
thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video
Great distinguishing!
I call random events happy accidents.
Excellent tutorial
awesome!
Really loved this video and learning about your process. Do you have anything that goes into how you came up with the original drawing/ painting that you began this video with? Would love to try something along these lines.
I don't have a video on how I began this drawing. I started with blind contour drawings to loosen up, then kept this loose approach in building up layers of line, not worrying too much about making them very accurate.
I really love this. Would have liked to see how you finished the painting, the difference between the end of the video and the finished work is big.
thanks -- unfortunately, I didn't film the resolution of this but there is another short video abstracting landscape 2 in which I explain some of my decisions as I finished it.
Hi Alison….I realize this video is 3 yrs old…But there is no age to art and learning. I love your videos….you take time…explain and your work is beautiful. This video has shown me so many techniques…….some I already knew but seeing how YOU use them makes a huge difference. The masking product used with glazing is wonderful. So helpful!! Paint transfer…I know….but as it was presented here it came across knew to me. I love it all…you video…your help has given me new feeling to my art. Thank you so much. Now I’ll watch your other videos and be inspired!!❤❤🤗🤗 Charlotte
So much great information. Thankyou
Okay… I just learned more than my previous three live workshops in the East. Thank you!
I love how you accomplished this effect! I learned a lot from this video. Thank you!
Anyone else notice the puppy on right side at 27:00 minutes in?
Beautiful Alison ❤
It will be very nice to see the next steps you take with this piece. After your last video, I purchased Pebeo and cannot wait to try it soon. Thank you.
Really enjoying this series. Thank you.
Your instruction is fabulous! Thank you😍
Thanks Marilyn!
So you're not going to admit that she used a tan too much paint
Thanks for sharing this. Can’t wait to see your other videos. This was so helpful. I struggle with water and I can’t wait to try your techniques.
Thanks Phyllis- I hope these ideas help you in your water paintings
Merci beaucoup 🌸🌸🌸
i won't to glaze over water to make it look real.
I liked the red! You aren't finished yet so I don't know what you'll do, but I kept thinking of Iron oxide. I love earthy rusts, reds and blacks w/ off whites, greys, etc. Yes! That is gorgeous!! Love the finished piece!
Such a great video…. Learning thru what we consider failure…. I love the nerrative!
So helpful, thank you!
fist time viewing and really enjoyed the tutorial and presentation.will continue to follow look and learn
I have recently ‘discovered’ you and am enjoying watching your videos. I really like both your style of painting and how you teach. Have you made another video showing the next steps in these sunflower paintings? Or maybe you’ve got a photo of the finished paintings…? Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.
Thanks so much for sharing Alison! Looking forward to the follow-up video on this painting!
Love the start of your new oceanscape and I love the alteration you made to the older painting you weren’t happy with! The 2 examples you showed were gorgeous, so moody! Looking forward to the next video!💕🇨🇦
always immensely watcheable. creative destruction, i will remember that. best r
thanks for this process video. So nice to get a glimpse of how you work, your tools and how you make decisions.
I like a roller tool also, but I think I prefer a brayer. Brayers are rubber, don't absorb the paint so don't need reloading as often. Of course, also give a different texture. Thanks for this video--I enjoy your teaching style, ideas and process.
Oh so looking forward to the next one ! This is so good to see the process ❤
👌❤
looking forward to the series!
Love your work!
Thank you so much Gail!
Thank you so much for this very informative video. I have learned a lot just listening and watching. TFS
Interesting to watch, thank you! But question is: what was the paper background?Board Weight? Was it gessoed?
I worked on gessoed 140 lb watercolour paper
Joan, I cannot thank you enough! I’ve always wanted to be an artist. My parents were quite discouraging and having grown up in a dysfunctional home. I just really didn’t have the wear with All to pursue that. So here I am at a very young 67 I have the time to paint and I have been painting. I love abstract, and I’m so delighted to come apart upon you. You have a wonderful teaching method. Sharing the rationale behind your actions can’t thank you enough truly you’ve changed the course of my development as an artist.
Marilyn. Thank you for taking the time to send me this message. I am delighted to know that these videos have helped you in your path as an artist.
