I love Mat, but i think he (and especially his mates) don’t quite know what this machine is, and how it, and Lancia changed the face of motoring and motorsport forever. It’s a BEAST, and it trumps a lot of what he’s got in his garage, McLaren or otherwise.

It’s about the whole experience, the sound the smells and the feel. I have a Integrale 16v and if I haven’t come away from a drive, where I am not fatigued, sweating and buzzing. The car smells of hot oil and unburnt fuel. Then I haven’t driven it properly. After all it is full on, fire breathing race car, built for the road. Unlike homologation cars of today.
Tell Mat the wobbly seat bit there is actually an extendable part of the seat cushion, it will actually move forwards a bit independent of the seat, making it more comfortable for those with longer legs.
The Abarth wheels are awesome - slightly bigger diameter but with these shocks you can adjust the height no problem so you dont neck out inside the wheel arches

Rebuilding and restoring are too different worlds. I would love to see Matt do a restoration, the level of detail and attention required is another level, I am sure he can do it but no one will watch youtube for a year or so until the project car is completed. As for Ben, I think he had the job we all craved lol .
The Integrale is one of the greats. But hearing that lot pick it apart is comedy gold. Congratulations, Ben, on getting yourself a champion road and track icon.
The panel gaps are "period correct" for this model/manufacturer. Ask anyone working on Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia bodies of the 1970s, 80s and 90, they will all confirm that "You can immediately see it has had body work done because all the panel gaps are even" on a car that had a restoration done to it.
Man I love a Lancia, I literally never get tired of content featuring them. Your Delta looks fabulous, hope your team can also get you in some of the crazy restomods people are coming out with like the Maturo Stradale or the Kimera 037. Still keeping my fingers crossed at someone coming around with a properly proportioned Stratos remake so I can watch a proper driver make that short wheelbase dance while it tries to kill them lol

Not that I can afford any of those but I would like to see a spark of the lunacy involved in making a 218cm wheelbase mid-engine rally car brought back to life for the modern era.

You know, having been born in the UK and then spending most of my life from teenager on in the US, whenever I return to the UK I am overwhelmed with sadness when I go to motorsport events, as I realize how much of the beautiful European car culture and knowledge I was never exposed to; the Lancias, Evo's et al. 😔 For me it was always big, lumbering V8's with massive displacements. god how much I missed, but I must say, my UK brothers and sisters have been so gracious and willing to educate me without making me feel a complete knob.
Congratulations Ben it's a cracking job this from someone who is old enough to have driven one or two of these when they were new,used to go low flying along St Mary's loch in the boarders ,in the ones I drove.and the odd sprint on The portway under the bridge.

Beautiful car and a true legend - worth every penny. I always wanted one, but i didn´t dared and sticked to my EVO´s. The Deltas have such a bad reputation in terms of reliability. Makes me happy everytime i see one of those. Looking forward to upcoming videos.
I was once loaned a Delta Integrale for a day when I was younger thanks to a super kind Fiat / Lancia specialist who I used to go to. My jaw was on the floor every time I took my terrible little Fiat into them and I think the garage owner felt sorry for me. Within about 15 minutes half of the interior fell apart and one of the window mechanisms failed, so I had to use plastic shims to hold it up for the rest of the day. Life changing experience driving it around though.
Ben, you need to bring the Stig's Chinese cousin with you next time. You took the abuse very well my friend. Very nice example of the Lancia Delta and can't wait to see a video of you taking it through the paces.

What a car, reminds me off sega rally days when i was a child, there used to be a company that dealt with these not far from bewdley Worcestershire, i was gutted the day i drove past and the dealership had gone, these cars are awesome
I went the other way in Sega Rally and fell in love with the Celica. I have owned my GT-Four for 12 years now although wouldn't mind a Integrale to go with it :P
Old coupe/sport/sedan quattros, e30 m3 and Delta are my all time favorit cars. I only got one Typ81 quattro and love to have delta at some point. Just love those boxy bodys ❤ Nice Job Ben and all involved 👌👍

Have a massive love of these things never been in a position to own one as they have always been out of reach for me but mid/late 2000s when I worked in a small independent garage a friend of the owner booked his evo 2 in for a running problem (ended up being incorrectly gapped crank sensor) I got the pleasure of being the test driver every time we tryed something to correct the fault! Problem was everything I've driven or owned since felt dull! Also got to drive his hf turbo 1.6T and his Thema which was a 2.9 if I remember right which while both were special cars the evo was incredible! ❤👌
I got to drive a mates evo 1 when they first came out. He told me to drive it like an escort and hang the back end out. I was Mightily impressed with the handling and how it went. Great car

Awesome car, looks lovely....... the workshop at the end... how many Deltas😲 I put money on I could pick faults with all of Matts cars and if you're tracking yours, then it isn't going to be a trailer queen anyway! To be honest every car will have an issue or three if old and definitely new! After having been in car cleaning, detailing of used and brand new cars including working at the aftermath of bodyshop repairs for many years you get an eye for blemishes and boy it's amazing what normal people can't see 👀
It’s amazing how the actual Stig from Top Gear an actual professional driver is keenly asking Mat about his car that was built before Mat was born…. And Mat isn’t even a trained mechanic. Learned everything along with us as he went. And the stig is genuinely interested in what Mat has to say. I think that’s cool af
The car looks amazing Ben, my experience of fiat’s and Lancia’s is they never were built very well and nothing lined up and they tended to let water in due to the lovely factory panel gap, looks better that the original to me 👍👍👍 you’ve also got to remember, as much as I love mat and his dad and crew, he is only a youngan and wasn’t born when these cars were around
Ben these old Integrale really benifit from a modern turbo. A 5th gen GTB 2056VK or the 2060VK hybrid special would transform the throttle response low down in the rev range. Starts spooling from 1500rpm.
Perhaps I might try and find a Lancia that needs some work...a lot of work. I owned a rusty 1980's Alfa 33 4 carb pocket rocket and never had so much fun on four wheels ( sometimes 3). It needed constant welding, electric window switches on dash started producing magic smoke, head gasket leaked, gearbox got stuck in reverse in the middle of no where (wooden mallet fixed that) but all these repairs were simple and weekend jobs. Very quick for a 1.3L and left MK1 Golf GTI's and XR3I's in the dust, the drivers in disbelief. You aren't a true petrol head until you have owned an Italian car.

My dad had the Thema 2.0 16v turbo as a company car. It was a cossie killer that i loved as you never saw another 1. but the Intergrale was the dream.
This week I have seen 4 intagrales and 1 s4, 4 stratos and many many more! Fos smashed it this year! One of my all time favourite cars!!!

The bracket for the wiper motor with patina could be re-zinc coated. Same goes for every bolt if you wanted to go that far.

Use to work for lancing and we were the biggest selling dealer in England and got to drive a few of these. Absolutely brilliant cars. 👏👏

The car looks amazing Ben, my experience of fiat’s and Lancia’s is they never were built very well and nothing lined up and they tended to let water in due to the lovely factory panel gap, looks better that the original to me 👍👍👍 you’ve also got to remember, as much as I love mat and his dad and crew, he is only a youngan and wasn’t born when these cars were around
Ben these old Integrale really benifit from a modern turbo. A 5th gen GTB 2056VK or the 2060VK hybrid special would transform the throttle response low down in the rev range. Starts spooling from 1500rpm.

Perhaps I might try and find a Lancia that needs some work...a lot of work. I owned a rusty 1980's Alfa 33 4 carb pocket rocket and never had so much fun on four wheels ( sometimes 3). It needed constant welding, electric window switches on dash started producing magic smoke, head gasket leaked, gearbox got stuck in reverse in the middle of no where (wooden mallet fixed that) but all these repairs were simple and weekend jobs. Very quick for a 1.3L and left MK1 Golf GTI's and XR3I's in the dust, the drivers in disbelief. You aren't a true petrol head until you have owned an Italian car.
