And that difference alone makes advertisers a lot more afraid to engage contracts, especially ones that are individual. I 100% bet that the same company would feel 10000x safer if their ad appears on Charlie's video through TH-cam's algoritm, even if it costs 4x as much, than to engage with Charlie directly. Simply because TH-cam can prove the multitude of safety checks before their ad appears.

If you're not making any money yet from youtube, it no longer benefits you to start on this platform. Better to use youtube, tiktok, IG, fb etc as ways to promote your content and gain followers on another video hosting platform/your own website than rely on youtube for money. Many creators big and small now have content on their own websites that people pay for, but they grow their audience through youtube and other socials. @Andrew Pyle Small creators should be using other platforms like Peertube, there's no excuse. I understand why bigger ones don't but small creators need to make the switch. If you're not making any money yet from youtube, it no longer benefits you to start on this platform. Better to use youtube, tiktok, IG, fb etc as ways to promote your content and gain followers on another video hosting platform/your own website than rely on youtube for money. Many creators big and small now have content on their own websites that people pay for, but they grow their audience through youtube and other socials. If you are trying to monetize YT nowadays, unless you're doing literal sock puppet shows or something for kids then you're just wasting your time.
