    No matter how many times I hear it I end up crying over that song. Now I’m at my desk, a watery eyed mess, smiling like a loon ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Amanda was the first content creator I supported on Patreon. I now support 14. I appreciate doing my little bit to contribute to the content creation of all these artists! I only need what they provide and nothing more. Even if my support is very little, it's more than nothing, which is what they would otherwise be getting. Patreon has opened a new world for many people.

    Amanda Palmer and the Dresden Dolls have been in my periphery for many years. I joined patron just a few months ago. Amanda - I’m not always sure if your art/music is my thing. But I’m 100% on board with your philosophy and community. & happy to support you. This was a great conversation. Thank you.

      Her philosophy involves alerting her Patreon subscribers to her divorce before her own husband. Does that not strike you as fucked up?

    I love amanda so much. She saved my life. I wish i could meet her. I feel like the biggest piece of shit in the world bc shes been my favorite artist for over 15 years...but ive never been able to make it to a show. Amanda you showed me i wasnt alone when i was in the darkest times of my life. And whenever you make it back to boston, i vow i will find a way to get to that show. And watch out bc i am planning to assult you with hugs.

      oh you sweetheart. with any luck, i'll be back in the states before too long. it's been two years since i stepped foot in america. i want to play for my community more than i can express to you. on a practical note, make sure you join the patreon and both my solo and the dolls mailing lists, because we'll probably start with tiny shows just for the inner circles. xxx

    I want to cite this because I thought it was just brilliant;
    43:03
    "When the Dresden Dolls started touring, I had to tease out what success meant, and felt like. And certainly, as I've gotten older and older and looked at the archs of these careers, and these human beings who have had these careers and whether or not they appear actually happy - it does not look like it looked when I was staring at them, at the altar of MTV when I was twelve. In fact, a lot of it now looks very backwards. And the happiest musicians I know are the ones who do not have to deal with superstardom. And some of the superstars that I've met are some of the unhappiest people I've met. (...) Success as an artist should look like, you know, are you within a community of people who are able to support your existence, and are you all feeling nourished by the exchange? (Or something like that) And, you say that to a younger artist, and their eyes sort of spin, because that's not the narrative that they're generally fed - that you can actually be a very successful artist, without a lot of stuff (...) There's always never gonna be space for a billion artists to make a living, but it also has to do with how the culture, the community, the audience, *values* having art - period. In your country, in your community, in your town hall. Will you spend money on an artist? (...) If a lot of people will support a lot of art, you can support a lot of artists. But it has to be a cultural decision that everyone sort of hops on board with. (...) That's the thing, I will always just like, try and look at people and remind you that, this happens, this succeeds in a culture because a bunch of people decide to just spend a little bit of energy looking around and saying 'Oh, maybe I should support the artists who literally live in my neighborhood'."

    NZ not only gets to have an organised state that manages public health crises effectively, but also gets to host Amanda Palmer in the meantime. I hear that envy is a sin, but... dang.

    An artist is not someone who spends year in a facility institution or school to learn how to express art unless the facility is open for change and development and creativity, witch is not always is. There is some poshy standards amongst the upperclass to what is arts... and these are ... weird and narrow. Well... I dont know, I guess they need some relief sometimes, too.... from their strictness. And anonymously participate in one of the more rebel arts... like the challenging expressions... to soothe their pain of the lifestyle demanded to remain rich and famous... but most sell their souls quite cheap. This is freedom of expression. This is true art. You. Amanda. And Neil. I grew up reading Sandman, I am the figurine... the scizo rainbow sister of death and dream if anything from those stories. The one that undersands reality and pull the strings but makes no sense to others... I woder if someday Ash would have a daughter or a sister named Phoenix ;)
