    I have been listening to the incomplete version you uploaded two years ago and it was wonderful. This is a step above, you really have gone above and beyond with your research. From one crooner admirer to another, thank you!

    I love the peace and cuteness of your slideshow in contrast of the loneliness and stress ambient of the album.

    I am so grateful for this album, it allowed me to listen to pieces of music composed and played by people who for some of them where there to witness the 19 century, where I wasn't even around to see the 20th (being born in 2001), that's literally crazy to me how big of a gap this is, and yet, the Caretaker bridged it for us.
    I basically listen to these pieces at least once a month, if not once a week while I'm working, it calms me down, helps me focus, and I feel blessed for this opportunity to get that glimpse of a past I could otherwise have totally missed.

      Thanks! I just felt like the Grand Canyon Suite tracks were special enough for a unique background lol. The Choir samples have a special background too, but I'm not sure if I can even use them due to the samples still being unknown.

    Dude, this is just… wow. I haven’t even made it past A1 and it just gives me chills. You’ve done a spectacular job on this one and I wish you the greatest of luck on stages 4-6!

    Outdated things about this video as of 2/8/24 (that I noticed):
    Usually in these types of sample videos we use covers that match what and where Kirby got a sample from, example: In a Little Second Hand Store by Layton and Johnstone comes from their album: "American Duettists with Piano" this isn't that big of a problem and I enjoy the dynamic of having different images for the same artists.
    Wayne King's "The Waltz you Saved for Me" was changed to be pulled from the "One night stand with a Pair of Kings" LP
    Really good video! Has me hyped for the 4-6 version.

      I appreciate the feedback!! And yes, the A6 section has been updated in the final video (in the works).
      About the Layton & Johnstone images, I wanted to break any monotony by using the same artist's photos over and over again (can't do much about Albert Benzler lol). I can try to switch some around to match the samples more though. Hope you enjoy the final thing when I do eventually finish it!

    This is a huge step-up over the last video!
    Just some information for post awareness though, the unknown choir samples and the unknown organ samples are likely never going to be found. It's probably best to exclude those when you get to making that video. Same goes for the unknown sample in K1 Layer 12 - its too short of a blip to even be recognisable. The unknown in L1 Layer 7 may be found, but don't count on it being found any time soon - it will take a lot of searching to find the true sample since its just a generic horn sound.
    There's also the unknown sample from "The revolving bandstand" - I wouldn't exactly count on that being found but it's not impossible.

      @ave.avenue  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the kind words!
      Though I will say this is very sad to hear. I'll probably wait until late fall to release the full thing, but I really do hope this group of samples are found one day. Lost media is so intriguing, but upsetting as well if it's indeed lost forever.

      @@ave.avenue Yeah, stings how we may never find some of the samples. We know a lot about the Choir record but we don't have any raw audio. It was probably an acetate 12" record pressed by Eroica Recording Services from 1960 - 1966 and is an english translation of Bach's St Luke Passion. There is a very very close version by a different choir that you can find on TH-cam.
      Aside from the choir and organ stuff the last samples to be found haven't been found simply because it just takes too much time. But I'm fairly happy with about 99% of the album being solved

      The revolving bandstand is definitely The Caretaker stepping on creaking floorboards and putting it in the album

    • @that1toad64
      @that1toad64 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm pretty sure it's been theorized that The revolving bandstand comes from the choir record.
      That doesn't 100% make sense to me but it's what I've heard

      @@ave.avenue I hate to be the one to say this but unfortunately a new unknown was added to the mix
      L1 Layer 1 has an unknown piano that is suspected to be a Layton and Johnstone song
      Although the K1 Layer 12 unknown is no more!
      L1 Layer 1 & 7's unknown can likely be found through extensive searching through the Internet Archive pages and Layton & Johnstone's albums that are even candidates for being sampled from (Like Alabamy Bound and American Duettists with Piano)

    Love the reverb. The original album is such a good collection of music, but the monotony of it gives me panic attacks sometimes 😶 so this is a perfect alternative!
