- Very much inspired by the Caretaker's works and a channel named "The Overlook" ( a very cool one, go check it out: / @theoverlook1921 ) I wanted to recreate the eerie vibes that "The Shining" movie offers by mixing 20s-40s music with images that have a similar aesthetic to the Overlook hotel.
I hope you enjoy it.

Ah, Mr. Torrance. There are other places for you to be the caretaker, after the Overlook met its demise. A caretaker's obligations are never over. Should someone try to stop you from your obligations there, it will be your duty to, "correct," them, perhaps a bit more, if I may be so bold. After all, Mr. Torrance, you are the caretaker. You have always been the caretaker.
The older i get the further into the past i wish to get. This is an amazing playlist. I feel like I'm playing with ghosts! Thank you
No need to rub it in Mr. Grady.
I should know. I’ve always been here.
sent chills down my spine.
The man takes the drink
The drink takes the drink
And the drink takes the man
-Danny Torrance
(Doctor Sleep)
Best line of the film, written from the depths of King’s darkness for sure
Actually it’s an old Irish saying, but still incredibly apt for the Torrances
Ain't it so dad?
...medicine, medicine is what it is.
So tell me pup, are you gonna take your medicine??
@@fernandonavales5887 its a Japanese saying
We humans need this kind of time.
i dont know why but for me this is the opposite to unsettling or scary but nostalgic and comfy
But Erivan, you've always been the caretaker.
@@timothyshaw6370 ha..wh what?🥴🥃
Me too. Reminds me of my grandparents 🥺
“A momentary loss of muscular coordination… 🤷🏼♂️”
Per second! Per second!
Could’ve happened to anyone 👀
I did a short animated film for my final project in college just last year, I was studying 3d animation and cgi. this type of music was a huuge inspiration, I was trying to give this exact vibe. love it!
awwww awesome :)
Listen to this while making French toast and ham hits different how I love the morning now
I wish I didn't suck at French toast. No matter what I do, it comes out soggy or sometimes soggy and overly spongey. Yuck. I'll eat it vicariously through you LOL
Can feel my ancestors through this music…
Melancholic, almost creepy.
9:09 i was on that fucking boat
you were always on that boat Mr Torrance
Well crap

when i listened to this album, i have a feeling of remember something but it was all empty, like a fake memory
It's not fake, it's sleeping deep in your subconscious. You've probably lived back in the 20s or died then in your previous life😊
sometimes on weekends i get to help my dad at work (we recover event decorations) which means i get to see and be in fancy looking places like the ones in this vid
working all midnight!
lucky
My dad tuned pianos and sometimes brought one or two of us along. This means I, too, have been in fancy places like this. Historic hotels and theatres, old churches, cathedrals, and basilicas, all kinds of neat places. I was allowed to explore as long as I stayed out of trouble.
Enjoy the time you get in those fancy places 😊
@@katie7748 that's interesting! i get to see interesting things rarely sometimes, i'm not kidding, one midnight something out from a silent hill movie happend, it was a pilgrimage at 4am, street was very dark, foggy and there was barely some lights, and there was old women with candles whispering things
Some of those pics look like the Sierra Madre Casino in Fallout New Vegas - don't care to be anywhere near, thank you very much.
You line up and I’ll knock ‘em back Lloyd
At 10:14, the track “Pleasant Things Don’t Last” reminds me of the Beatles’ “Your Mother Should Know” if it were written in the late 1920s.
Very relaxing. Great track selection. Downpitched/slowed down it sounds so soothing. If you ever feel like making one more i am here for it. Cheers dude
i wish i found this while i was reading the shining, amazing playlist:) i really feel like im in the overlook

I thought this was going to be disturbing. This is peaceful.
I listen to this and stare into the void while I think about her and I long ago.
I don't know why but for some reason some of the pictures give me Titanic vibes as well. But these all do emulate the Shining very well
I believe it may be a similar time period unless I'm mistaken, or at the very least these architectural forms were more common at the time
@@timothyshaw6370 The Titanic was 1912, and Mr. Grady the butler was in the 1930s. But the vibe is the same, so I totally get it.
Some of the hotel hallways have a bit of an Edwardian style and the RMS Titanic was built in the Edwardian era (1901-1914) which could explain why some of the hallway designs look like it’s from the Titanic. Some hallways like the 2nd one that was shown gives off a bit of a Harry Potter vibe to me because of how the 2nd one looks almost like an area of Hogwarts like the dining hall of the Magic School which has a gothic style. The Overlook hotel would have originally have had an Edwardian era hotel considering that it was built in 1909, it would then change into a postwar era hotel after being renovated by Horace Derwent after World War 2 as confirmed by Stuart Ullman.
Absolutely amazing playlist...
Need more like this one,
good luck bro:-).
I'm currently making a concept EP set in the '40's about a murdered hotel receptionist stuck in limbo, and this entire video and its music have properly realised the visuals for me, thank you SO much
backrooms now: worldcup with criatures and crossovers
backrooms then:
Midnight, the Stars, and You ✨🎵🎶
This will blow up some day
Very nice)
awwww i sure do love these thanks so much :)
good job, enjoyable listen.
my new go to playlist!
This is nice! 🩵
This is insanely good
very nice ambience, enjoyed that
buen video bro, me gustan mucho este estilo de videos
The picture at 10:20 really gets me.
Anche a me alle 10.15
Love the Blender renderings.
It is in my instrumental/dreamcore, etc's playlist. Thank you
C1 is hands down the best track prove me wrong
Katie, I understand.
What you mean. I have had my encounters with ghosts also. Some were positive and others were negative
Sir I’m afraid u ate with this video and album
Man, this is some good stuff right here.
Yo nice
Que paz siento con esta musica te saca fuera de la realidad y te lleva a soñar
Impossibile trovare una location migliore di questa. E poi, queste musiche.....
This is both elegant and haunting - even if one doesn’t know the ghostly context.
Very good track selection.
One question: Did you make these yourself, or were they random songs you stumbled upon on the internet?
I selected the tracks that had a jazzy 30's style since not all samples from that time have that kind of feeling
I'm a ghost investigator. I'd love to investigate the original stanley hotel in colorado. They say it is definitely haunted.
wow i'd join you cuz I aint scared cuz I love Kane Pixel's the Backrooms. if anyone knows about the music soundtrack and his videos on the subject. you could try 1st , Backrooms/pitfalls/youtube.
Having lived in a haunted house, I have no desire to ever encounter anything supernatural in this lifetime ever again. It's all fun n games until it's not.
@@katie7748 same here too so I really do hear ya.
Is this what forgotten and nostalgic places sound like in the never ending abyss of our memory?
❤😮
Preserved Memories of the Haunted Floor of the Airship.
⚡.
A2 i need
Just come over and I’ll give you shining vibes
my friend's apartment building used to have hallways exactly like the shining and as a kid i was always scared to walk through them so instead i would run lmao. lucky i never fell 🤣. i always imagined the twins standing at the end of the hall which made me run even more. same feeling as running up the stairs after turning the lights off.
Hello hello, it is a pleasure and a complete honor to see such good work. Do you know the real name of all the songs?
please please Please may i have a list of the songs sampled 👀📝
Where’s Lloyd and the party guy ? 🥃🎉🥳
I’m listening to this a little after I just first watched the movie “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest” and it sorta gives the same vibes. But I believe these songs are more grounded in the shining. (If you haven’t watched seen one flew- I recommend the watch heavily. Both Jack Nicholson and Benjamin Crothers make an appearance)
Anyone know the song at the start of “ overlooking the lonely times” ?
Who ever commented for whatever reason its not showing :( 💔
What is this kind of music called ? I absolutely love it.
Hey, quick question
If I want to do like little change for a small video that will be probably upload on Twitter.
Do I need to ask you the permission ?
Or do you want me to credit or something ?
As long as you credit me for the themes, no problem if you want to publish it or make some changes to it :)
Muito bom
I found the real songs in case you like them or were wondering. I will edit this comment if I find more
C2 - “the ballroom remains eternal” = Trees - Bunny Berigan
i love u, era esa misma que buscaba
could you provide the sample for 'C1 - Pleasant things don't last'? i love this song
The impossible kid pt2
So, do you wanna share the original songs you sampled from? I recognize some of these.
Nice, you got one of the main ideas, make some of the samples used to be familiar.
I don’t find this scary at all. I’m looking at my WWII collection and thinking about life before and during WWII
Não sei explicar talvez é riquezas luxo ambientes isso são 🗣️
Can someone actually put the actual song names? Or are we dissing talented dead musicians here..
It always appears that the original artists behind these songs are not acknowledged and in fact, is plagiarised into a completely different song in a completely different album as if it was created from scratch
Could you Please tell me the names of the samples? I would love to know (:
It's not a matter that concerns you mr. Torrance, at least not at this point.
-Lloyd
Anything you say Lloyd, anything you say.
-Jack Torrence
I love the first music (A1 - The past blooms once again).
Someone know the name of the sample??
I found the sample -> A1 - The past blooms once again // When the White Lilacs Bloom Again - Jack Hylton
Do you know the sample for the second one (A2 - The dance we had together)?

WOW
Name of the first one, please tell me
Where and how did you find these songs ?
Something I did was use songs from the same bands/artists of The Shining, and then I searched for samples that sounded jazzy or a banger to me, I assure you can find plenty of samples used here!
22:10 Hotel California ?,,lol@@pietroverardi
THE NAME OF THE FIRST SONG PLEASE !!!
Oh God where is my husband and what is he doing now😁
I honestly, hate "The shining" but those places are nice 🙃
