Thank you! Labelling the file with the CRC was the one part I was missing. You can also view the CRC in the game summary when you right click and choose properties in PCSX2. Easier than using the compatibility list, and helpful if your game was mislabelled.
None, some people don't have it. I found out after I posted this. The other way to find it is to Search the folders for Cheats folders. A few will come up, I just saved them in all thr Cheats folders to ensure it hits the right one
@personausermike1 Oooh thank you! It's weird, I do see the .var file but only when I boot up PSCX and I try to select a game, I can see it. But when I search for it manually, nothing. I'll just drop the cheats in every folder labeled cheats, thank you for the tutorial!

This has been most helpful. Thank you. My cheats on the pnach file had to be stored in a different area in order to work. I have a question though: Is there a way to toggle cheats on or off? When I put the pnach file in there, the cheats are active, but what if I wanted to temporarily turn a cheat code off & then turn it back on at a later point?
Glad I could help..yeah I notice some people have the folder in different spots. Unfortunately, there's no way to turn it off quick. You'd have to turn off all cheats in the options of PCSX2..or go back in and move the pnach file out of that folder..I wish there was an easier way

Hey bro, I have been following every single step of your guide down to the T, but sadly I'm not getting any results. I'm trying to add a cheat for Final Fantasy X and it's driving me nuts. I have the "Enable Cheats" on and placed the code where it belongs in my PS2 cheat folder but nothing happens. Am I missing something?
It could be the cheat itself. The ones I found out didn't work are ones that thr codes I copied from gamehacking.org don't work. Also some people notice not all codes work with other codes, so some codes can only work when it's the only one active. Try it with a different game first where you can check the cheat fast from starting up the game. Also try just one cheat and see if that one works
@@personausermike1 Cool! Thanks man. I'll try another code for a different game and see what happens. It's a shame though. I was looking forward to using certain cheats.

You'll need to find the Cheat folder on your deck. Plug in a keyboard on your dock or leave Steam icon still on the bottom and press Steam button and Y to bring up key board. Once you have one of those two, go into your first Home screen folder and in the top right Seach icon, click on it to do a seach, search "cheats" you'll get a few results. If you click o one, it cancels the search so instead right click on one and open in new tab, go to the tab and look at the path at the top. You may have to past the cheats in a few of the cheat folders to make sure it's in the right one. It won't hurt if you put them in all to make sure you get the right one

Can the cheats be toggled easily or are they all just enabled by default
Unfortunately with PS2, they're hard-coded in once you do this, so to take them off you'd have to:
-Exit game & Go to desktop
-Go to the folder and unclick Enable Cheats
The crc said unknown when I searched it what does that mean
Where are you seeing the unknown and what game is it? You can also Google a game's CRC number, then you're just saving the txt file as that number
can you toggle the cheats on and off within steam deck or do you have to edit the file everytime?
Unfortunately there's no way to toggle the PS2 ones. You have to unclick it in the emulator in desktop mode
it won't let me view the codes when I click on the "view" button

I did as your video. But it's said "unlabelled patch codes will automatically". What does that means? And is there to fix it?
I'm not sure, it could be the code doesn't work? Sorry I'm not sure
So on the game hacking website when I click on view nothing shows up but I can still download the cheat file does that still work if anyone knows?
Yes, but you have to open and copy the codes you want and do the rest of the method. You can't use their download file unfortunately

You can Google it. There's some other sites that would have it

They should all be in the same folder that the ps2 emulator will check for codes and then reference the game code name by the title of each folder
