Based on social media, Wisconsin got blanketed with the 15 year last year. Happy it won't be as highly allocated as I thought, but also hard to justify the price knowing how many bottles are being distributed.
Great review Cam. Love the nuance of the review and cannot wait to see the blind. You should clip it if done via a live as I think many people will want to see that
Cases? The stores by me, the bigger ones at that, got 1 bottle each. My prime store that I go to, put their only one aside for me and my guy told me he had about 12 calls already for it. Buy the way, every part of this is fantastic. From the color, nose, palette and finish, it doesn’t miss. If you find this on the shelf, but it!
Thanks! I used to do this but when life got busier, I started shooting unedited reviews on 1 camera for speed and simplicity. Now that I can give the channel more consistent attention with the recent growth, I’m bringing back better production elements bit by bit! Next up will be some onscreen graphics and B roll.
I was wondering about the laser code for reference since it became a big deal on the Elijah C923. I am very happy with my A22 -C923 but don’t have a A23 for comparison. I am certainly a novice on rating bourbon.
As a Wild Turkey fan boy, their pricing in the past few years breaks my heart. Wild Turkey has always been kind of regarded as the best value in bourbon and while I think 101 and rare bread are still in the category, there's no reason for thier high end stuff to be that pricy. Once you hit bourbon that is 10 years old or older, I think $10 a year is MORE than fair assuming the bourbon is barrel proof. If it's cut then it should be lower priced (ala Russel's 10). I still paid MSRP for a bottle of this and we'll find out this weekend if it was worth it in a blind with a RR SiB pick and CNF.
Sounds great! I have a Russell’s store pick IMO it’s better than both RR 13yrs that I have and almost as good as the three RR CNF’s that I own and it was 75.00 bucks. So it’s really hard to pay over SRP:( Cheers!
Great review and really good information!! I think we all appreciate that you and others pick it apart given the hype and cost. But I guess I have to seek it out now from my buddy!! LOL!!!!
interested to see how secondary values change once the production amount is confirmed....current prices are RIDICULOUS. Imagine whoever has already paid $700+ for this bottle will feel pretty crazy here in a couple mths if 900 barrels were produced.
As long as people are willing to pay $700 plus, we will never see a balanced price for this bottle. The best we can hope for is Russell’s gets some competition that forces their hand. Until then, prices will continue to sky rocket. Their juice out performs other 15yr bottles.
@@waynearnold1072 it was a bit different w/the A. Bowman Cask Strength Batch 2 recently. That one was consistently in the $1,000 range for over a year, but the distillery just randomly released a bunch daily to visitors over the span of a few weeks, and now its ~$700-$750 on secondary bc the markets so flooded.
Wild turkeys pricing has personally made me stop purchasing their products. I almost laughed when I saw the 10yr triumph come out. A 10 year rye for $275?! They are seeing how high people will pay.
I was at the distillery today for the drop at the gift shop. Walked out with two and brought them back. Just arrived in Eastern Iowa and am looking at them now. So happy I got them, the line at the distillery was crazy. If you’ve ever been there, I was parked dang near to the bridge and had to run up to the gift shop.
The rumor is 98,000 for the bottle count. Has anyone heard or can confirm this? For perspective, anyone know the bottle count for let’s say EC 923. Trying to figure out my chances, still haven’t hit the shelves where I’m from.
I hope like hell it was 900 barrels maybe I'll actually be able to get one! I wasn't able to get a Russell's 13 or single rickhouse. I would sell my kidney for a single rickhouse that is one of my favorite whiskeys I have ever had! I even had cash and decent bottles to trade just cannot find one!
If it was $150 max id bite. after that im out. Just cant make myself go any further than that. I know that means im not getting one, but im ok with that. I have a lot of good whiskey, including a russells 13 hanging around.
@@johnwill7962 because its a comment section and it drives engagement for his channel, plus there are hitter bottles that come out for good prices every year still. I dont comment it on everything.
Yeah...even $175-180 considering what they set the 13 years at last year, I would pull the trigger. Watching Mash & Drum's review he remarks how shocked that it's less that the 10 year rye in the Master's Keep that almost swayed me into thinking this was an amazing value. Good thing I slept on it and had that minor bout of FOMO pass 😅
Just thinking… there’s prolly only about 100 bottles or less per barrel since it’s 15yr old. if there’s 300 barrels I’d say 30,000 bottles tops. But all depends on what floors in the rickhouses the barrels came from.
Yeah I get it, but I’ll never see it either unless it’s because I paid way way way too much. I feel your pain. Either hunt endlessly or pay way over SRP. I just pay it to save time but the channel obviously helps with that financially. Would be nice to have another 1980s-style glut of highly aged whiskey. It might be coming soon though with the way inventory is going 🥃
I bought a bottle for $250, could give two shits what anyone thinks, this is the bottle of the year to get., and my taste, and nose , is it tastes like a delicious bourbon…. No chode review here

Enjoy the review of the 1 bottle I am after this year, we all want the Cam that dissects and is hyper-analytical.
Totally agree with you on the price! Too much to ask for bourbon!

Great review, Cam! They did add water to get that final taste and it is awesome!! Cheers🥃🥃
FYI - I've also heard from someone who had Bruce tell them it was 900 Barrels.
Was at the release this morning, the guy at the shop said they would probably sell out before noon. Thanks for the review - happy hunting

So glad I don’t need to chase this one

You can get 3-4 of those for the price of one of these. I agree though some of those store picks are monster bottles.

The whole state of NC got 240 cases. Hoping I find one or five 🤞🤪
Does this RR15 release have batch codes. Wondering if there will be variation with this one like the RR13.
Did a tasting with the 15, the 13, and CNF and the 15 did indeed wipe the floor with them
Pricing is over my head!
Great Review 👍

The "tightness" you are picking up may be why they added some H2O. Just a thought.
Did you ever have the Russell’s 16 yr cask strength a few years ago?
It's been awhile but yep I've tried that one

The price will go up until the bottle sits on the shelf. That's what I would do if I owned the company too.
Iowa got 166 bottles. I didn’t see anyone getting more than just 1 bottle.

How is this compared to the Buckner’s 17-year you recently reviewed?
I don’t have any left to compare unfortunately. To memory, this is richer/sweeter and more “obvious” on the palate, if that makes any sense.
