A buddy and I had a pour of the RR 15 at the Wild Turkey distillery this past weekend. OMG! I got vanilla custard on the front with the cherry, tobacco, and typical WT spice absolutely BLASTING in on the mid and finish. We also got the opportunity to meet Jimmy Russell while we were there. We told him that we’d just tried the 15 year. He smiled and said “good, but don’t get used to it”. LOL. What a cool day.
These two guys are top notch, entertaining, and giving us the inside information on which bottles are good and which is so so. Saving us money in the long run....keep up the great job guys we appreciate what your doing
I just met Jimmy Russell last week at the distillery, great honor. This year will be his 75th year at the master distiller at WT, and I was told something special is coming out in October to commemorate the event. I was also lucky another to get to sample the Master's Keep Unforgotten while there, wow is all I can say. too bad I will never even see another one of those!
I was fortunate enough to purchase a pour of the Russell’s 15 at Wild Turkey this weekend and it was the best pour I had all weekend on the bourbon trail. Probably the best pour I’ve had in years!
Kurt, would you guys be interested in doing a video on the misconception of whiskey aging in an opened bottle? It seems a lot of folks out there think that after a bottle is opened, bourbon whiskey is only good for about 8-10 months thereafter and then spoils. Would love to see you guys cover this, Cheers!
@gUiTaRkiNg001 - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And taste is far more subjective than sight. I think Rare Breed is the single best value in whiskey with perhaps the time I daw Laphroaig 10 for under $30 at a Phoenix Costco.
If I am going to shell out $250 for whiskey...I am buying more than one bottle. Five $50 bottles that will do me wonders: Bardstown BinB; Four Roses Single; New Riff SB BP; Old Forester 1897; and Woodford Double Oaked...or maybe substitute an RR 13yr or a couple of RR 10yr...or a Rare Breed. And since no doubt I would more than $250...I can use the left over cash and buy a taste or two at a bar that has it, so I can experience. Regardless of what you do with you money...JUST ENJOY WHAT YOU ENJOY!!!! And as always, thank you for the honest tasting notes Kurt and Trenton. You two are my favorites to watch. My tastes line up more with Kurt...but it is good to have the diversity that Trenton offers!!! Cheers!!!
Just got a bottle of this on Friday, legitimately one of the best things I've ever tasted. It almost has a hint of a port finished characteristic for me, almost reminds me of a better midwinter nights dram. Such a great pour. It's only going to come out on special occasions
I just paid $250 for one night at a hotel (albeit a nicer hotel, but still it was only for one night), so if you look at it from that perspective I don't think paying $250 for a really good bottle of bourbon that's going to last you several months or more is unreasonable if you have the means.
Trent…. What a description to explain the taste and experience! Kudos to you for your phenomenal imagination. I have a bottle and I was not going to open it for fear of not being able to get another one. I’m DEFINITELY going to open it now. I must treat myself to all the rave on this bottle.
I like hearing your reviews on these hard to find or on the expensive side, even though I know I won't spend that kind of money on bourbon. My most expensive bottle is a Blanton's at $80, I think it is really good bourbon, but I can easily name 4 or 5 bourbons that I like as well or better that are less expensive. Keep up the great videos, Friday's sounds good. TonyB
Had this last weekend - really a great bottle. Had it alongside the 13, but not blind. Need to blind them without looking at them - the 15 is noticeably darker.
One of my best memories of growing up was the smell of pipe tobacco when my dad would smoke a pipe and we used to get him pipe tobacco from a specialty shop in the mall and I can still remember the smell of walking in that store. Unfortunately, he now has esophageal cancer (may or may not be related to his smoking) but I still fondly remember those days.
I’m a huge RR fan and finally broke down and bought the RR13 for $250. It is fantastic. I also have 4 different RR store picks ($75-$95) and the RR13 is definitely better! Bring price into the equation and that’s where the argument falls apart. The store picks are a way better value.
I think because I started my whiskey journey with scotch, a $250 bottle just doesnt really bother me because I don't even consider it. I've tried a few $200-400 bottles of scotch and while they're fantastic, I just have come to terms with the fact that I will absolutely not buy them anywhere in the near future. I'm a dad of 3 who works 2 jobs and is in school full time. Where I'm at in life currently, a bottle of makers mark cask strength is splurging. I've built a roster of solid bottles under $30 and I stick to those and don't even look at the rest. No point in window shopping if you can't afford it anyways 🤷♂️
Price is what you pay, value is what you get. If you think you get more than $250 value, then you won’t mind paying it. My guess is when and where most of us can find it, we’ll have to pay more than $250.
The online release sucked both times they did it. If that is the way they are going to continue to release products they need to invest in better servers
Nice! Local store’s around me have to buy 10-12 cases of Russell’s 10yr and 6yr rye to be able to buy one case of Russell’s 15yr so they will probably charge 600.00 plus:(
Love you guys! Keep up the great videos! Wild Turkey is my favorite profile! I have been fortunate to get three 15s so far! For me, it's well worth it!
I love a good cigar with a glass of bourbon. I enjoy pipes a lot too. The difference people don’t realize between pipes, cigars and cigarettes is with cigars/pipes you aren’t supposed to inhale, hence there’s very little risk of lung cancer. Cigarettes are much more addictive and carcinogenic because they are meant to be inhaled and have added addictive chemicals. Pipes/cigars are more about tasting the notes of the smoke and relaxing much like sipping bourbon.
Just picked this up on Saturday in Central Florida at MSRP. Had a pour with friends last night and I have to say this may be one of the best pours I've had to date. Delicious!!
Funny even kentucky id assume, is late on product releases! Sorry i might be a bit sour because of "COLUMBIA DISTRIBUTION" up here in washington but i see most whiskey enthusiasts/ tubers claim theyre late to the releases in their respected area. Dont get me wrong yall are my second favorite youtuber next to Bourbon Kingdom and love the review! I appreciate yalls videos and what you guys put out thank you! I love seeing LE reviews from every distillate from you two!
I'm a pretty big Wild Turkey fan and probably an even bigger fan of their Russell's line. I would prefer the 15 year to be a little cheaper, but considering that it's probably one of the few whiskies I would really splurge on, $250 isn't terrible. I wouldn't want to pay any more than that though.
As Always guys, a fantastic video. I would love to see one in the wild and although it would overshoot what I would normally pay for a bottle, I would have to pick one up. Cheers
Editorial note: I was so looking forward to Trenton's facial expression upon his first sip! Kurt's too. I love the recently added close up views of the bottles but ack ... the timing choice killed me!!!
Great idea for live blind! Glad you guys got a bottle. I love the 13 and a store pick I have of the reserve 10. Definitely started wondering about the similarities and comparisons to the 15.
To all the negative comments… stop. We all love Kurt and Trenton or we wouldn’t click the video. I’d love to hear their thoughts on this and that’s why I’m watching. If you want a bottle, then go ahead and start a TH-cam channel, build it for years… spend thousands each year at a store for product for the channel, and build a community.. then maybe you’ll get a chance too :)
Having grown up around tobacco farms, “raw” tobacco leaves from the field, dried and smoked in a pipe have a different flavor and smell than processed tobacco. It’s really nice, but I don’t smoke anymore.

Got a pour of wild turkey from my uncle after a 15 hour drive from Ohio to Florida for a wedding. Every alcohol i've ever tried in my entire life I absolutely despised. Been a Whiskey Drinker ever since, always get a bottle when i'm out of 101 or the occasional Rare Breed. I wish that I had the funds to get or even try some of these higher end bottles
Side note did you try Bulleit barrel strength batch 8? It tastes like OGD-114 turned to 11 in proof and flavor but without the nuttyness at all! Not a bad pick up for 50ish bones for a full proof pick up!
Hey guys I was one of the winners of last months live giveaway and I haven’t heard anything back from the email I sent. Be awesome if you guys could confirm that my information was received! Anyway enjoyed the RR15 video!
Seems like so far its been a good year for whiskey releases, and we still haven't gotten to the Fall releases yet! I'm curious how the RR15 stacks up to 2024 Michter's 10 bourbon and the Old Forester President's Choice releases.
This bottle put me in a bit a conundrum... Last year I paid about $120-ish for a bottle of Russell's 13 after searching for over a year. I spend obscene money on my guitar gear. 3-5k for a single amp head or guitar for my collection is not uncommon. With a bottle collection in the 200+ range heavy in whiskey and tequila, I tap out at $100 bottles. But I do have the Russell's but won't pop for the 15yo.

I don't mind when people say I don't like Wild Turkey. That is more turkey for the rest of us.
Totally agree 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I know its insane to me, between Russel's 10yr and Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Wild Turkey has more than that but those are good enough for me
I’ve tried Rare Breed and it just had this weird aftertaste! Maybe it was a bad batch or something?! Or maybe just my pallet
@gUiTaRkiNg001 - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And taste is far more subjective than sight. I think Rare Breed is the single best value in whiskey with perhaps the time I daw Laphroaig 10 for under $30 at a Phoenix Costco.
Trenton: this tastes amazing! It reminds me of fresh baked cherry pie with vanilla ice cream even though I hate pie especially cherry!
More power to the folks who can afford $250 for a bottle of bourbon. That’s a car payment for me though. I’ll just be comfy with my Russell’s 10 year
Russel's 10 is great and never gives a hangover the next day. Smooth and quality pour there in my opinion. Underrated.
Me too
I'm sure the 15 is a neo-unicorn, but I definitely enjoyed the 13. Getting lucky in the county lottery is probably my only shot of getting a 15.
Def. Russell 15 , Bourbon of the year so far . Got my bottle almost 2 weeks ago

I paid secondary for my first bottle, found a second at retail. Will be happy to buy several more at secondary rate - just an amazing pour!

While it is a very good pour and I do intend on snagging a few, it not a $400 bottle for me either. Trenton is right. It is over priced a little bit.

I was fortunate enough to get a sample of this and found almost all the same notes as you two. Some that I got that you all didn’t bring up were:
On the nose: Bubblegum, grape
On the palate: Bubblegum, sour/ripe cherry, melon, banana, Concord grape
