I have to say you’ve become one of my more trusted whiskey reviewers on TH-cam #HiProof
Secondary price $700-800, hard pass. Even MRCP of $250 makes me very uncomfortable to buy it.
Hey Peter! I totally understand that it is a high price point and it is not for everybody. Everybody has their "vice", for some it be watches, great food, shoes, cars, toys, etc. For me, it's whiskey and I make sure to save up for my purchases 😆. But obviously it's not an easy thing to do but I love doing it. If you do by chance have some spare cash and find this at msrp, I would definitely recommend you pick this one up 👍.

MSRP is down to close to $400 and there’s still 42 states that need to release it.
For me it would be an instant buy at $300. I've got that level of trust in the Russel's line. The 13, and both SRs are easily some of the best whisky I have ever tasted. CNF is the best whisky I've ever had (haven't been lucky enough to get any BTAC stuff).
I don't do a contest just me I'm sure this is fantastic but its over my cap on what I'm willing to pay for whiskey. I hope who ever gets this sample enjoys it.
Hey Scott! If you ever get a chance to get a pour of this at a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend it! It surely isn't a everyday pour (or shouldn't be due to the price), but it is an almost perfect bourbon to me 😆.

This may be my favorite bottle of all time. It beats ECBP C920/C923, CNF & 13 CODO B2, which all are some of my fav pours. So crushable.

I had it at the distillery. It was great. Home a week when the state did a drop of it. Grabbed a bottle. Nothing like what I had at the distillery. Friend grabbed 2 and cracked one at my place so we could compare. His is like what I had at the distillery. His has fruit jammy nose and fruity palate. Mine is spicy wood. No fruit, just bite. Our laser codes are close to each other and indicate they were bottled on the same date, just one a bit earlier/later than the other. Another friend's has a different code yet tastes like the good bottle.
That is very interesting. I wish I had more than one bottle to compare 😆. But if I ever do get a sample from another pour, I will see if there is any noticeable difference.

Happy for you that it is worth it. I can only dream. 1 store in Portland had 4 bottles in the entire state. Already gone, they sold for $300.
Hey Andre! Honestly, after having a pour, I would pay $300 for a backup. But most likely, I won't get that opportunity 😆. I'm sure there will be more as it seems the distribution is better than expected, at least here in Southern California.

Man, that pour sounds like a dream! I think I would have to put this up against 13th Colony 15th Anniversary, as that is the best whiskey I’ve had this year, and see how it stacks up. I was severely disappointed in rr13. Tried it multiple times but it just didn’t have a wow factor. I picked up a 15 a few days ago and I’m just debating on keeping it or not based on that experience.
I'm not the same boat if you saw my RR13 review that I wasn't "overly" impressed or blown away by it. It is a good bourbon but not sure it was better than Stagg or Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. But the RR15 was on another level for me. Just an almost perfect bourbon. If you're into Rare Breed or RR single barrels, you'll need to open your bottle 😆.

@@WhiskeyBank I enjoy rare breed (I’ve gone through two bottles) but haven’t ever bought a Russell’s single barrel. Too many other purchases! I wish my wife’s grandfather was still around because this would be a perfect bottle to open with him as he LOVED Wild Turkey 101. I’m sure he would love this one.

Thank you for the great video. me and my wife was trying so hard to purchase this bottle when they released it on their website, I was able to put one in the cart, and after I filled out all the payment information, boom the site crashed and was forced to refresh the page and my cart was reset and no longer had it in my cart. I really wanted to try this, I was a big fan of 13 when I tried it at a bar. Keep up with great videos and reviews. I love #HiProof
It seems 99.9% of us had the same experience as that was not fun trying to add to cart and check out. Oh well, hopefully they learned and it'll be a better experience next time.

I got sick of Wild Turkey’s price gouging after the Master Keep & 13 year increases. So I passed at $250. Figured I may have made a mistake when I passed as RR13 batch 1 was phenomenal while the following batches never came close to batch 1.
I did pick up Bardstown Discovery 11 & the Amrut as well as a Redbreast 27.
The Redbreast prices have also skyrocketed the past 3 years
Those are fantastic pickups and that redbreast 27 is a whiskey everybody raves about 👍.
If you do get another chance at this bottle for 250, I would say you should give it chance 😆.

Solid review, and nice to know the Old Carter AW's stand up to the RR15. At least I see those fairly often for $250-$300. And i have batches 4,5 and 6 though the proofs are much higher at 135-139! #HiProof
I didn't have too many of the earlier batches of the Old Carter American Whiskeys but from what I hear, that batch 5 is an incredible pour and one that might actually beat this RR15. But I'll never know 😆.

Interesting that its 117.2 proof when regular Rare Breed is 116.8.
That is true. And it's not barrel proof so they watered it down a little to 117.2. Wonder how it was at barrel proof they needed to add water 😁

The hype is real with this one. It was nothing like any of the BTACs or Pappy or even Parker's Heritage I ever had. The sweet "jam" fruit notes are so amazing with a oak presence you know it's there... but lurking in the back just giving it an aura you can't resist 😁.

I have and I would say the Jacob's Well 211 would be a nice competition against this beautiful pour, but I would think the RR15 would win. But then again, you never know and I might need to do a comparison soon~ 😆

That's true... probably haven't been this excited after my first sip since the Old Carter American Whiskey Batch 12 review video last year 😆. But it is an expensive bottle and we all wish it was cheaper.

I went to a store today and found one for $599 and Russell's 13 for $399. I didn't buy either. I would have considered 15 for $300-400 but not for $599.

I am still disappointed on how Russell’s Reserve was unable to make it possible to order from them online. Spent couple of hours trying. I am beginning to believe they didn’t want customers to get it except through distributors at double or triple the price ($500 to $600 in my area). At those prices it is a pass for me.
You are very convincing. I said I wasn’t gonna buy a bottle of Russell‘s 15 however I found one for a Good price. Somewhat above MSRP but not crazy. Looking forward to trying it. Keep up the great reviews.
Hey Scott! That online process was... not great to say the least 🤣. I will bring it up in my whiskey haul video at the end of the month but didn't want to bring it up here as I wanted to focus on the whiskey. Let's hope they had good intentions, but just didn't execute well. Hopefully they learned from it and will do a better job next time!

$250 MSRP 🤣 Naa I’m good ALL Hype it’s a FOMO TRAIN for those who buy this. And almost $400 you’re willing to pay that’s the problem here LOL they know you’ll buy it at any price. There are whiskeys that are worth $100-$150 but anything over that you’re just fooling yourself Cheeers!
Obviously everything is subjective and for some, no whiskey is worth over $100, which I completely understand. I have the same price "limit" on basketball shoes (playing off your TH-cam ID). Even though I'm an avid basketball player (not a good one, just enjoy playing 😆) I do not buy anything priced over $120 and do not buy anything that's not on sale. But for some, they pay hundreds for a Kobe shoe (either for performance, to collect, or to flip), wait in line for it, search online stores often, etc. I would like a Kobe, especially the newer protros, but the cost or time investment is not worth it for me, while for some, it's worth every cent and time investment. So when you say that about whiskey, I completely understand your stance and why you think I'm crazy 😁.
But I do wish I didn't need to hunt, play games, and overpay for any whiskey (or basketball shoes), but unfortunately, that is not reality.

As long as the whiskey isn't open (just like the shoes also can't be worn and has to be in box), it "could" be an investment. Maybe not a good one, but still can consider it one 😆. Yeah, LeBron's shoes has lower the tech inside (no more full zoom, air, etc.) and yet the price keeps increasing.... just like Wild Turkey (i.e. RR13). It is not a trend I like...in any industry.

sorry, but Old Carter is a sourced juice from other distillers, they are just marketing and blending.. way over priced. (thumbs down)
Hey Mike! Sourced isn't a "bad" thing. Sometimes your specialty (in case of Mark and Sherri Carter) is their ability to taste and blend some wonderful whiskeys instead of distilling and aging whiskeys 😆. I was not a believer until I had a pour of their whiskeys. Also, it might be just me, but I never seen much marketing or advertisements for Old Carter.
Hopefully you'll have an opportunity to try a pour of an Old Carter to judge for yourself!

At some point we need to call our Russel's/Wild Turkey straight up whoring of the customer. We, however, are unlikely to do this because we're to caught up in the fact we're being screwed, without a kiss. This is the reality of today's bourbon industry. On top of this, as if that were not enough, you cannot find it. So, even if you're fine with being the Russel's/Turkey usury, you have to beg for this abuse.
Yeah, it is the unfortunate reality of bourbons and the whiskey industry in general. I do wonder where the limit will be for the consumer. I got the RR15 but skipped on the masters keep triumph due to the price. Either way, they all sell out so it doesn't matter who buys as long as someone does. I hope the trend reverses.... but not sure it will soon.
