This changes the way I think about transitions. It is not about a word. Transitions are not forcing connections, but recognizing the space in between and making the decision what to do with it. It could be to remove it completely. Or maybe the space needs a few sentences Or a competely new paragraph to connect para 1 with the now para 3. Another brilliant vlog ❤!
    Love, Siti

    Dear Prof Tara,
What a great content you are presenting👌. My name is Sibusiso Ngubane from South Africa and I am currently waiting for my COC. So these vlogs and outriders are very helpful.
I was wondering if you can also touch on the ‘signposting’ between paragraphs and chapters.
    That would be highly appreciated.

They are so hard to do, Queen Mary. For historians in particular, we don't write transitions, and assume that chronology will carry it. Chronology is a weak transition :). You are the best :) txxx

Morning Claire - thanks so much. It has been terrific to research, write and deliver it. My own writing has improved enormously (!!!!). And those damn transitions have improved... Thank you so much for sparing the time to keep us company :) txxx

Hi Tara. Transitions are a nasty piece of work in that they are hard to get right. I always have to think hard how I am going to use a transition at the end of a paragraph. I also see that you have taken up your usual spot in the NZ house. Well done! cheers, doug.
