Oh yes. We do it all on a pretty regular basis. Except for the bookstore we don't go there very often. It's kind of out of the way and usually there's only VHS tapes in there!
It's not a case of do you need scrap metal, it's what are you finding that's paying for the gas, the dogs get the dog food you find, that's great, it saves you 100's of $ each month, you need to cover your costs any way possible. You need better gloves than them surgical blue gloves. invest in something better. If you pay for them yourself, you will take better care of them and make sure you use them.
As far as gloves go. I'm only interested in keeping gross stuff off of my hands. I'm not one of those guys who is going to put on a pair of gloves to make a salad. I just don't do it. For me the gloves only purpose is to keep nasty wet stuff off of my hands. Thicker cut proof gloves are not an option, I need to be able to feel but I am touching. Just the way I am.
