I dunno about that, their dynasty span 300 years while the Starks (8000) some andals are 6000 - 5000 like the lannisters.

the most interesting history is the one of woever build stygai and the oily black stone monuments (the people of stygai might have even been the one that gave valyrians their dragons)
Wonder if hbo will consider to make this series about old targaryen...

Rawrist ARTUPIDA I hope they do, but I feel like they'd do a Duck and Egg series or Roberts Rebellion first because less hardcore fans would know a lot of the characters and backstory and it would be cheaper. Imagine the CGI budget on Valyria or even Aegon's Conquest.
+ARTUPIDA Spinoffs is highly possible as long as the interest about Game of Thrones lore is high. I would like to see the Children of The Forrest and The Rise of Valyria storyline.

1. The Valyrians were not very nice people.
2 hundreds of dragons they were have to feature would be cost prohibitive.
3. quality of writers is not there.

1. No one in Game of Thrones is a nice person entirely.
2. The Dragons wouldn't cost much more to render and create than they currently do and most of the writing and scenes could be easily wrote in a way that the dragons weren't heavily featured other than their raising and battles. They could easily follow the fights between the Dragon Lords for control over the republic and all this depends if they even do the show at the height of the empire. They could easily do one with the Valyrian Shepard finding dragons for the first time and the begging of their empire and fight against the Ghiscar.
3. That's an opinion.
But yes most likely to see a Robert's Rebellion especially since most of the show watchers have seen and heard about this time period and will have seen most of the characters that survived.

All 40 prominent Valyrian families had dragons. Valyria, highly developed and prosperous, reminds me of Atlantida. But there was a prediction that the disastrous cataclysm would happen and Valyria would be TOTALLY destroyed. Targaryen family was the only one who took that prediction seriously and moved away with their dragons to an isolated island. So they are the ONLY survivors and carriers of Valyrian magic.

The only reason why I think there will never be a thrones prequel based off Aegons conquest and Old Valeria is because the cost for the CGI for all those dragons would be astronomical
Perhaps not prohibitively so. It’s been clarified that the direwolves were more expensive to animate than the dragons due to the textural differences of fur vs scales.

I wish our history was like ASOIAF's. Even though GRRM was inspired by real history, it seems every time I read his history, it feels like this is a real world.
That's what's so great about GRRM. He makes it so believable. :)
Trust me it is the real world history but in codes and slight fiction. It's mainly based on the British monarchy, the European Union and their royal families. The Atlantic and Arabe Slave trade and the Eastern world.

If valyrian steel is forged by DRAGON FIRE, and not a specific 'Ore' itself, does it make the IRON THRONE a potential source for such steel?
Rajat Verma No. The sword are from the enemies of the Targareian invaiders when they took over westeros. So i higjly doubt it
No the valyrian ‘steel’ sword was formed from the ores but they used magic and dragon fire (for melting and making). It is what makes them so expensive. Idk but valyrians had some reasons behind it or maybe they had dragons to give powerful fire to melt the iron

So basically, the Freehold is like the Pax Romana of Ancient Rome.

I graduated in 09' and used to make fun of kids in High school for reading the books. I noticed more and more students and teachers carrying them around but it never sparked my interest simply because it was a "book."

Many times I tried getting into the GOT tv. series but never really gave it a fair chance until I met my GF about a year ago. She finally got me into the series and I am such a big fan I find myself watching videos like this... (go figure)
Now that the tv. series is over I'm going to start the books because I just can't get enough of it.

I found a quite shocking facts about the origin of movie featured characters being our history from real historians-professors. Even though we have lots of stories in history and folklore about white and blue/green eyed people, I had no idea them being used. But about us being nomad - khal knew. It was really cool when foreign historian mentioned about 'game of throne', 'rings' etc movies mentioning the origin of myth in the university. Turkic people culture which almost being bad topic and only fiction,, in 21 century getting more genetics, scientists, historians involved.
Pleased to hear a female voice narrating. I feel like the A Song of Ice and Fire fanbase is predominately male, and I sometimes feel weird for being so obsessed with it.

I never heard of the city of Lice, theres one named Lys, but I never heard of Lice...
I think that some of the valerians might have escaped and stayed hidden and may come out later
