Yeah well I still watched it again.
The only diving I have done was on the north coast of California @ about 40degrees also,
But the visibility was about 3 feet murky and stuffed full of kelp, with very few abs available. Love your channel.

Love abalone with egg and breadcrumbs. We would always cut them vertically in thin strips, possibly to make it easier to share amongst a group. New subscriber here so working my way through from the beginning as well. I missed meeting you guys at the DSS but my partner Garry did catch up with Troy at the slipway. You have inspired us to consider the Kimberley. Looking forward to seeing more of your Tassie adventures. We love your adventures, storytelling, the information that you share and your delight in preparing and sampling your food. Hope you enjoy Tassie as much as we do.

Hi mates, “...never further south than 40 deg!” It’s all about what you get used to, I guess. We sail the Great Lakes out of Toronto (43.6 N) and our boat is on the hard right now.😞 We would normally be launching this weekend, but all things yachting are shut down. We have 22 live aboards at our club who brave down to -20C in the winter. Fortunately this year, a little milder than average. Water temp is currently 5C and will slowly warm as summer approaches until the water reaches 22-25C and the air as high as the mid 30’s in August. Our seasons are short, but we make the best of it. 😉 Stay safe.

recently discovering your channel and appreciating your style, expertise and love (and music choices) I had to go back to the start. I'm about 26 episodes in. What a great distraction/learning experience. Having been a fish-cutter in my past, and eventhough I'm vegan now, I enjoy the details of prepping your catch and the cookery too. I have cooked on a sailing vessel and know the challenges. Much thanks for the entertainment!

I remember fishing late evening off a jetty in Margate Dru Point boat ramp. A fishing boat pulled up and a fella gave an abalone. My first experience of the wonderful food.
I also remember him saying to not tell anyone where I got it. Felt so good. Thanks for bringing back the memories. I knew you guy's would love Tassie.

It's been around five decades and a bit more since I've seen that many abalone at one time. Heavily poached on the west coast sadly. Mostly sold to high prices San Francisco restaurants.

    • @DdesideriaS

I'm afraid poaching is not the main reason if you're talking about CA coast. Disappearing kelp forests (as a result of climate change) is the reason.

I live at 41 north. Nice latitude. Smokey water sucks. My partner and I accidentally smoked our water supply while melting snow before attempting to summit the almost 5000 meter volcano in the back yard. Water was at a premium because of weight, and every drop yearned-for. Until you took it. No more smokey water for this old chap.

To reach a wider audience (your nota bene in your outro) simply by using the tools you are given, maybe pimp the Meta-Tags of the videos. Although the help lines trivialise this instrument, the effect is to the contrary. Tell the yt-algorithm about the content; it is a computer program, it does not do it by itself, not in detail, nor is there any yt-staff regarding this. To summarise the first five minutes, ignoring the introduction part and/with the overall topic, feed it with tags like sunset, Tasmania, dinghy, dingey, pulley, tazzy, Google Maps, Lady Baron, Flinders Island, smoke, bushfires, Australia, thick air, drone shots, trip line, marine life, apnoe diving, wetsuit, snorkel, Green Lip Abalone, Black Lip Abalone, sea snails, marine gastropod moluscs, ear shells, sea ears, muttonfish, muttonshells [Australia] ormer [UK] perlemoen [South Africa] paua [New Zealand] [Wikipedia], Cressi.
