    Dr Ken Berry says drink when your thirsty. A gallon a day is excessive. It depletes electrolytes and puts alot of work on your kidneys. I find if I drink too much my blood pressure soars, my kidneys can’t keep up. Be cautious. I’ll take Dr Berrys advice. I am a seasoned RN too I do have knowledge of the body. Good luck

      **IMPORTANT** To avoid water intoxication, do not to drink more than 48 ounces, or six cups, per hour. Too much water or other fluids, such as sports drinks, can cause a medical emergency because the concentration of salt in the blood becomes too low.

      I know that she uses electrolytes because she talks about it all the time because it’s super important!
      There is nothing wrong with drinking a gallon of water a day. I do it most days,but I make sure that I’m done by 7 PM,otherwise you’ll be up all night.
      I think one of the most important things is have that water with you when you go to bed and first thing in the morning when you sit up take at least 20 gulps of water. We’ve been fasting all night our brains need water to function. I read this somewhere and I tried it because people were saying they couldn’t get it down in a day. Its because they take 3or4 “sips”.
      NIX the straw when your home or take The lid off and drink you’ll find you’ll be “drinking” a lot more than sucking it through that straw. Straws are for convenience when you’re out. It may sound silly but I’m telling you it makes a difference and you will find it much easier to get your water down.
      And for sure you won’t be snacking because you feel full, not full as in bloated your just not hungry.

      @@viky_is_here I lost a total of about 50 (I got mad fat around Covid) pounds, from 240 to about 190. Not as high a number as some of the other people here, but I got to about 8-10% body fat, so I’m about as lean as I’d want to get.
      At the time I was losing, I was in a course, so I’d pack my iPad and study on the treadmill for about 2 hours per day. I’m fairly fit, so I could walk about 2.5 to 3 mph with a 15 to 20 degree incline, but it’s important to keep your heart rate below about 130. Sometimes I would use my elliptical I had at home (I have a tray set on the wall so that I can watch the iPad with craning my neck downward awkwardly).
      Sometimes I would shadow box or kick the bag (I was nursing a bicep tear at the time, so no punches), but I don’t think the Muay Thai stuff really aided my fat loss much).
      I would eat one meal per day (I don’t like multiple day fasting since I don’t sleep well). Usually I would have a large flank steak of about 2 lbs from Costco seared medium rare in 2-3 tbsp of butter with just some salt or seasoned salt for seasoning. If I got too hungry earlier in the day, I’d have 6-10 scrambled eggs, again with salt and cooked in about 1-2 tbsp of butter. I didn’t eat vegetables much at the time, but I do now.

    I was already trying to drink at least 4-5 (16.9oz) bottles of water a day but there is no way I could drink 128 oz. Truth be told, depending on your weight, you only need so much water daily. If I remember right it is at least .5 oz for every pound so for me, I would need to drink at least 96 oz (6 bottles), since I am currently at 192lbs after losing 65lbs so far this year, with 56lbs more to lose to get to my goal weight.

    I’m a big water drinker. I don’t do soda or any kind of sugary drinks, except for the very rare PSL or hot cocoa. And by rare, I mean like a couple times a year. I drink black coffee, spiced tea without sweetener, and water. Sometimes if I’m feeling icky I’ll add some electrolyte powder to it. But, here’s the thing. Like you, I’m a big snacker. I’m also a bariatric patient. The rule of thumb is to not drink anything for at least 30 minutes before and after eating. When I find myself slipping back into bad snacking habits, I definitely slack off on the water intake. But as soon as I make water intake a goal again, the urge to snack lessens quite a bit. I just keep drinking the water, and I tell myself every time I chug some that, “okay, you just drank a bunch of water, you *can’t* eat for at least half an hour.” So, I just keep drinking the water, and keep reminding myself that eating isn’t an option as long as I keep drinking. It’s a mind game, but it works.

    Just a couple of sides notes ….. most drinks (not just water) count towards your daily fluid intake. What also counts is fluids from your food intake. The other thing to note is that it can actually be dangerous to drink too much water too quickly, as it overloads the kidneys. This amount can be different for different people depending on things like kidney function.

      In most "advice" and informational videos ot says that most drinks can count towards water intake, but that is completely false.
      Anything other than water (including water with just plain electrolytes dissolved in it), is considered a FOOD.
      A food must be digested, and the water then separated out from the food that has to be broken-down and processed.
      That's why guzzling-down soda, coffee, tea, broth, a shake, juice, etc., will NOT relieve your thirst right away, because it must be DIGESTED as food first.
      Water with a pinch of salt would quench thirst.
      And I doubt it is common for people to die from rapidly drinking too much plain water.
      I'm sure it can happen, but it would not be a common thing to be concerned about within the realm of daily activities.
      An ordinary day, even with some exercise thrown in, would not trigger a person to quaff down so much water all at once as to cause a medical emergency because their body would signal them that they have reached their intake limit of liquid, including water.

    • @OnlyMe-uk6nh
      @OnlyMe-uk6nh ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pat4005 You are 100% wrong. A ‘food’ is considered anything that involves calories. That in no means proves nutrition. Heck you could pick up a dog turd, eat it and consume calories, but that doesn’t make it food. Coffee on the other hand (with no additives), has no calories and is a liquid. Your “information” is wrong. Many types of fluid other than water, contribute to daily fluid intake. If that wasn’t true then the majority of the western world would be dehydrated to almost the point of death because they don’t drink ‘water’ daily. You sound ridiculous. BTW …. The definition between food and ‘water’ or food and ‘fluid’ is the nutritional value. A fluid can have nutritional value, but still be considered as ‘water’ by the body, whereas not all liquids qualify. You are uneducated and trying to split hairs. Go do some research.

    Thanks for making this 😊 I used to never drink water & it was part of the reason I was unhealthy and had brain fog. What I noticed is I hate tap water & buying a brita was a LIFE CHANGER it taste SO MUCH better that it got me to become a water drinker! Yes the peeing is annoying I try to stop drinking water before bed or I'll at least have to go 2x. The benefits I've noticed are my wrinkles will look way less apparent, my skin plumps up, my brain fog disappears and my mind is more alert. I don't snack often either I feel even when I'm a bit hungry & I happen to drink water the hunger is gone. I definitely noticed an increase in thirst it's like your body is like YES PLZ more of this. And now I can't even go to work events or friends places without bringing a water bottle. And if I do I have to ask them like can I have a glass or water? or I just get parched. When I get dehydrated I immediately see it in my skin my wrinkles re appear lol. Def an increase in sweating while working out which is good for detoxing. Yeah once you start you can't really stop with the water. It's the only thing I have to drink at my house other than coffee, tea and almond milk😅

    I drink a half gallon of water every day but I don't think I could do a gallon. I never snack between meals, i rarely eat more than two meals a day to maintain my weight loss. I used to love coke zero as well but aspartame is so bad for health I finally gave it up. Sometimes I drink a ginger root beer from zevia or i add true citrus to sparkling water occasionally to satisfy the soda craving but usually I drink one cup of coffee a day and water the rest of the time. I never feel deprived though, I eat whatever I want as long as it's a clean version and as long as it fills me up, no processed or fast foods. congratulations for losing so much weight I don't know if I could have done that. I can relate. I have a kidney infection when I was pregant with one of my children and I couldn't take antibiotics so I drank a gallon of water for about two weeks or longer, can't remember exactly but it got rid of my kidney issues and I have the most beautiful skin I ever had!

    I drink about a gallon of water a day. I am regular, my skin looks clear, I do not snack all day long, I workout, my focus is sharp, I am in tune with my body and I feel good about myself. I definitely pee frequently and a few times during the night. If I’m away from my routine and cannot drink water I feel dehydrated and run down. Great job on trying this challenge!!

    My mediocre water intake could be the reason why I tend to snack on fruit so much during the evening or at night. I have a hard time seeing the weight come off and your experiment has given me some insight.

      I eat a ton of fruit and vegetables but carefully due to fruit is loaded with sugars, natural but still sugar. I counter all sugars by drinking water. Genius huh…

    • @viky_is_here
      @viky_is_here ปีที่แล้ว

      @45valk that's actually a pretty good idea! yeah, I think my body is asking for liquids so I go for a mandarin or a pear since they are pretty juicy. I can't have any sugar at all, and just 1 pc. Of fruit can really mess me up. No carbs or sugar. Although, stevia tends to be okay and doesn't cause cravings or body pain. But yeah, pretty genius of you to dilute that fruit with water. Makes sense!

    Stop drinking the water before 4pm. Drink the most of it before 4pm. Then a little sip after just to keep hydrated. For some people to please drink electrolyze if you are going to drink that much water. Unless your food intakes has a lot of sodium throughout the day. Athletic people drink electrolyze because they sweat the water out a lot. They need to hydrate with water AND electrolyze for a reason.

    I did this for 75 Hard challenge, the first thing I noticed was never being very hungry. The first lesson I learned was don’t even try to drink it right before or during workouts, esp paired with coffee! 😂. With that level of intake, I found myself chugging small bottles at certain times that worked for me and then sipping through out the day. I think the parts where I had a lot at once also helped with the having to pee too many times lol. I will say my sodium was a bit too low at the doctors afterwards, mine is always at the lower end, so I’m not sure where that type of stuff gets tricky or a concern.

    I recently saw a nutritionist and she recommended I drink 80 ounces of water daily. I often drank about 64 ounces a day, but trying to now get in 80 ounces has been hard for me. A gallon a day would be excessive for me, but I think it’s great that Mayra can do it. She’s obviously a lot more active than me.

    I drink around 110+ ounces every day. Pretty much anything that doesn’t have caffeine in it counts towards your water goal. The SF flavor packets help a lot. Also, is does get easier with the peeing at night after your body gets used to it😊 Also, I wouldn’t jump to a gallon a day right out of the gate. That can actually be more harmful than good. Hope this helps!😊

    Coffee doesn’t add to fluid it’s actually a dehydrator due to caffeine, anything with caffeine cannot be counted as fluid hydration, wet food intake contributes to fluid intake…strawberries, watermelon, other melons, etc, foods do add fluid to your intake, take your body weight divide it by 2 equals number of ounces of fluid needed per day, weigh 130 equals 65 ounces, sweating during the day requires you to up your fluid esp with nutrients included, yep your body adjusts to fluid intake, if u drink electrolyte drinks, coconut water without sugar or artificial sweeteners is one of the best natural electrolyte drinks for our health., whatever it takes, get your healthy fluids….except no sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no caffeine, no alcohol, all are body dehydrators….I,ve been a certified Herbalist for 32 years, a licensed NYS Massage Therapist for 35 years, a former health teacher, I’m huge on research, LOVE YOUR CHANNEL …..
