    1 tip for new 5th wheel owners. Do not stand between the truck and trailer when hooking up. Always stand to the side.

      No kidding, we get it within inches of hook-up, I do any adjustments and one final check to make sure it's aligned good then step out, only then he backs into it.

    We've had campers for about 30 years now and we just did the same thing, only we're not full-timing it but we want to do long trips. Got the 22MLS last year, just before retirement and realised it wasn't going to work for 2 reasons... 1- size and 2- harder on us for hook-up etc. Age has given us some limitaions that make it difficult and the 5th-wheel is just so easy. We stayed with the Cougar line and got a 29RLS.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good stuff. I believe that one is a little lower than the Solitude so that's a lot less stress as well. We passed under a 13' 7" overpass the other day and talk about white knuckle grip! What's worse is that there are so many overpasses that have no placard at all! It's bonkers.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the support! We looked at SO MANY rigs and Grand Design just seemed to always edge out the other manufacturers. The Dealer also made a big impact. We did check out some GD's at a couple other dealers and those had problems and were not as clean, but we also based our decision on what we saw on forums and such about the Manufacturer and the warranty process and just service for GD in general.

    Luv yur new rig. I am so jealous but I’m so happy for you. I have a Imagine 2800bh we really like the bunk beds and the storage but we want a rig like yours. We’ve been out west down south Florida Maine and our state of Michigan we have seen rigs similar and bigger all over the country good choice.

      So far we love it, although we just damaged the passenger side slide because during travel I guess my drone came out of the back left cupboard and fell behind the slide. We didn't see it and it messed up the trip piece. Easy fix...hopefully the drone isn't damaged..nothing visible. Test flight tomorrow! Fingers Crossed...

    I had a 310 for four years. It was a great RV and we went to 35 states. We have just downsized to an Airstream. The only reason is I wanted a 2500 instead of a dually and also less complicated. You will love the 310 for full time life.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do prefer the 2500 over the Dually. We loved how simple the Cougar was to travel with, but the bigger kitchen and shower in the 310 are worth the little extra hassle. We looked at Airstreams too but at 6’4” I couldn’t swing it, lol. Unfortunate, because they are pretty!

      @@Live2JourneyIs that a 3/4 ton truck and the same one you pulled the Cougar? Would you suggest anything less than 3/4 ton?

    • @Elizabeth-rq1vi
      @Elizabeth-rq1vi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patrickvanrinsvelt4466 no. Unless you don’t want to go over mountains. It looks like the one we just bought, a 3500. My only requirement for a truck is one that can pull a fifth wheel (no more than 35’) up the long hill on the Icefield Highway in the Canadian Rockies without struggling.

    • @Live2Journey

      It’s only 35’ but much taller. We get so nervous going under overpasses with no placards stating how low they are. It pulls great though.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      We love it. We bought it new. It’s a little sketchy going under low overpasses because of the height but besides that it’s a great couples trailer.

      No we got it from a little Keystone dealer in Moyock NC

  • @Millardfishing
    @Millardfishing ปีที่แล้ว

    I am about to do the same thing any tips? We found the 5th wheel we like just getting paperwork started. Going from a colman262bh 31 foot to a 41 foot Sabre. Just a little nervous lol.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would just recommend really looking at what fees they are adding and ask what they are specifically for. Usually they will act like they are dropping the price of the rig for you and then just increase the fees to match what they "act" like they are giving you off the top. A good thing to do would be to ask about the fee's before starting negotiations for the price. If you are already past that point, just make sure you spend time on the walk through looking at everything. Don't feel rushed. Spend all day there if need be. A big thing for us was the shelving inside. We checked every shelf to make sure they were screwed in. Start the oven if you can at the beginning and let it heat up while you are doing the walkthrough, that way if there are any problems with that you will know by the time you leave hopefully. I could probably go on and on until I have a novella about it...but you already purchased the Coleman. I'm sure you have learned what to look for as well.
      I feel like height makes more worry for me than length. Going from not worrying about overpasses to stressing every time you see one stinks! LOL, but it's all part of the journey. Good luck and enjoy. Thanks for the comment!

    You checked the level by putting level on the table? 😂. If anything, check on the floor of the rv….or, trust the technology

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny thing, if you check level at front of the RV and then back of the RV you get two different readings like it is twisted. Then the bed slide is never level with the main room floor. We mostly try to make sure the kitchen is level and let everything else slide.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll look into it! Thanks. What is your reasoning on why its better than other hitch systems?

    • @Sw00p77
      @Sw00p77 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @LIVE 2 JOURNEY B&W is the best in the game. The simplest and best quality hitch around. I have a Momentum 397THS-R that the wife and I full time in and I wouldn't use any other hitch. I run the 25k Companion with a 2020 Ram 3500 Laramie. Tows like an absolute dream. Also, my best buddy owns a trucking company and all he uses on his hot shot trucks are B&W. B&W is what the pros use lol.

    • @Sw00p77
      @Sw00p77 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, you'll only need the 20K companion for your Solitude, which BTW congrats on getting! And welcome to the Grand Design family!

    • @Sw00p77
      @Sw00p77 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lastly, always remember to do a TUG test with you're 5th wheel before hitting the road. Too many people have destroyed their truck beds not doing it.

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the TUG test is necessary!
      Maybe B&W will send me one to review! Lol. Thanks for all the great info!

    Why do all utube res have to play the stupid music when there is no dialogue! It is most annoying!

    • @Live2Journey
      @Live2Journey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well me personally I like to have music in between moments of dialogue so that there isn't that hanging silence. Sorry you don't like the music, I guess you could always watch it muted with the captions? Was it just that music or any music in general. These types of opinions interest me greatly.
      Thank you!
