He said gill netting is banned! The Govt. (Inland Fisheries Ireland) still gill net for pike in the Western lakes such a Lough Corrib and Lough Mask. A disgrace in this era. But it's political. Trout anglers are better organised. Science is ignored.

Same in the U.K. unfortunately the Eastern Europeans poach for pike, it is a delicacy to them... they've decimated some tarns and lakes.
