Lovely surprise to have found your video channel today, after seeing the picture of The Maidens, I had to click on it. I'm from the local area and would walk along the Antrim Coast Road past them and actually wonder what they look like close up. I would've also had an interest in pike and match fishing, so nice to see a bit of sea fishing. Looks as if you don't know what you're going to pull up. Interesting as well how you've covered the boats and even quite the chef too. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures and a bit of your craic.... tight lines mucker!
Hi! Thanks for the comment and the Subscribe 👌 Yes the Maiden's is a stunning place, I feel very fortunate each time I am out there to be honest. Been doing plenty of sea fishing over the summer month's and soon I'll be mixing it up with the Pike over the Auntum & Winter which I'm hoping people will enjoy! 🤞
Great video in a fantastic location. I had never considered bacon as a Pike bait however, I have heard of it being used in the sea as a Bass bait on float tackle. I had put the Bass caught down to the white fat and rind acting in a similar way to white soft plastic lures but it seems Pike must like the taste of Bacon. There is always something new to learn!
Thanks Gordon much appreciated 👍 It's a cheap easy to get bait! Now that I know it works it will be hard to give it up, I tried it a 2nd time without the flappy tail and no luck so I'll go back to how it looked in the video! Must try it at sea also, I reckon the pollock will eat it up!! 😅😅
Nice fish, many species of fish will take bacon. Caught 4 different trout species, 3 different catfish species and even artic grayling on bacon before.
Thanks for the comment Colton 👍 Yes I seems very effective, I'm going to use it at sea this year in hope for come Codfish 🤞 thanks for watching the video. I have another upload coming in the next few days Pollock Catch and Cook 🎣
when we where kids and cuttin our teeth we used to catch loads on bacon, fished it sink and draw freeline on a single treble, ive used it since but its not as good (but still works), my thinking is either more nitrates in the bacon or less salt in it
@@Barbedhookfishing we used to hammer eels with it 2 mate down as far as the esturary but further than that lord knows what you could hook, ill be keepin an eye out to see now anyway mate!!
@@whitetroutchannel Good man, Yes keep an eye! We hooked into a tope or a seal at the weekend on light gear, some fight whatever it was until we lost the trace, lots of seals in that area.. gonna try again this weekend with the bacon and heavy tackle, hopefully a fish!! 🤞
Proof this man can catch a pike with anything 🙌 a proper angler 🎣
Thanks Ben, I learnt from the best 😉😎

Great! I loved the method, I think presentation is key, looking forward to trying it again, one bonus is that it doesn't stink 😄
