Very good explanation indeed from Captain Makau about the flight path from NBO to JNB...From Kenya-Tanzania- Malawi-Mozambique-Zimbabwe-South Africa. Meaning the journey to South Africa passes through five other African countries before the final destination! Perhaps also depends on the weather because there could be another alternative...Is there?!
A few months ago we left NBO to JB. 4hrs estimated but 3 hrs45min ..we were in Joburg.. nice flight. Good services. We left NBO at 17:30 hrs. It was the best journey

Pilot salaries are available online. You start very low as a cadet ... basically like an allowance then work your way up 2nd officer.. 1st officer... senior 1st officer... captain... lastly every company is different
Very poor service and expensive. You're left at the airport for 11hrs without a hotel unlike Ethiopian airlines. Ticket prices are too much! Imagine paying R15,000 return on a route that Ethiopian airlines charges R8500. Only reason I fly with KQ is because of their luggage charges
KQ is a great professional airline. Has some of the best trained professional pilots and crew in the world. The issue is with its management style and not the airline outfit. Disagree with you Brother

KQ not a really a great airline, can't compare to Ethiopian airline. They are trying but Ethiopian a are leading in the Africa.
