I’m decluttering my entire house this year. I’m also setting up a meditation/yoga space in a corner of my bedroom. I’m waiting to see my husband’s reaction when it’s finished and he realizes my full hippie is coming out. I can’t wait to finish everything.
I love your choice of where to donate clothes. you make a great point about how your size and shape will really help! I've seen in some swaps here too that often there is a lack of everyday clothing for older transfolks - ltos of party stuff and lots of fashionable stuff that is very "uni student" in look. But less for like transwomen in their late 30s or 40s who just need to go and buy groceries or go to a community meeting.

I feel like my day's off to a good start. Also, you're so efficient! I have about double the clothes and easily three times the bags and I'm dreading the moment of truth. They won't all fit into our new house so I'll have to declutter them in about a month. 😬 I'll probably rewatch this for inspiration.
I saved this to "watch later" and it got lost in the mix. I finally had a chance to yesterday (LOVED) and my 7 year old (whom I've been trying to teach to declutter) watched for a minute and said, "wow, she's really good at decluttering." haha - thanks for being a great role model. :)
I have the very same Kate Spade large purse, best purse I've ever owned. Holds all my sunglasses (3 pairs), diabetic supplies, and it stands on its own. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

I need to declutter...everything. I was telling my mom yesterday that I haven't even touched 90% of what's in my closet in months because all the stuff I regularly wear is all in a laundry basket in front of the closet. And when I moved things off a bunch of bins, I found a whole plastic storage bin full of clothes that I probably bought at one point in time and well, there it is. (I have that same Hamilton shirt you do. My cousin bought it for me when we saw the show in January. I always get smiles when I wear it.)
On a I found out about fabric recycling it got so much easier for me to get rid of things! I was holding onto old socks cause I felt guilty throwing them out. Look into your county or local area! It usually just has to be clean and they take any fabrics!
Your and Sunny's hairs are WONDERFUL! Most excellent, both of you. I am in the midst of a slo-mo whole house/apt declutter so watching you decide so quickly and ruthlessly was really inspiring. I'll bet if I can summon that much motivation I could get through my clothes in one day and my yarn stash in another.
Love your organizing system 👍🏼. I need to go through my draws and closets AGAIN lol. My biggest purchase was always underwear and bras and at some point I had to get rid of a lot of them that was a sad and devastating moment 😂😂😂. Its good though when you can donate everything to someone that can actually use it all ♥. Thanks for the inspiration!
Odin reminds me of my dog when I'm trying to do this kinda stuff 😆 I need to declutter my entire house. I did my living room and am currently working through my kitchen. I keep putting off clothes because I'd like to drop a few pounds but it's been a struggle for me to workout lately. I love the cause you are donating to! Such a great way to help. I usually do a curbside pickup because it's the only way I actually get it out of my house!

Very inspiring video, thanks for sharing! For your sentimental drawer, you could send those tees to someone who makes t-shirt quilts and then you have a blanket for dialysis days if that's useful. Just a thought. I had a bunch of tees from college I didn't want to get rid of and a friend made me a t-shirt quilt which I love.

I just did a big Konmari process in my room at the beginning of the year, which meant going through all my clothes at once regardless of the season (and I'm in Boston, so I have never trusted the weather lol). Since you're supposed to go by what sparks joy, I did wind up decluttering some pieces that fit and keeping some that did not (at least at my current weight fluctuation). But I feel okay about it because almost my entire wardrobe can fit in one closet and I can find everything that I like! I'm actually going to do another decluttering pass through to really determine what I'm not wearing anymore, but it all looks so much better, and now I have a much better idea of what I need to get or replace.

Closet is happening hopefully this weekend because I'll be wearing office-y clothes regularly for the first time in 13 years. I have new items to add AND I can't remember what I actually have in there and in what sizes, so it's going to be a full overhaul.
Can you clue me in where you find underwear with a long enough gusset ? Every pair of underwear I own had a gusset that's about an inch to two inches too far back and therefore utterly pointless!
I needed the inspiration now my dilemma is that I don't want to just dump the cloths that I can't donate in the trash. Does anyone know of a company that recycles clothing?? As for the tshirt, if they are sentimental you can make them in to a blanket/quilt or you could frame them and use them as decoration.
Salvation army! I learned from Dana K White that the Salvation army takes ripped/stained clothes/towels/linens (clean, though). They sell the stuff that no one would want to rag-makers and companies that want that kind of stuff

I don’t mention that I support or don’t support LGBTQIA’s , nor do I mention if I am straight or not straight and only support straight charities. Who you give to is your business. Great if you support same sex and great if you support opposite sex. I don’t care and don’t need to know.

Ive seen ads on instagram for a company that sends you a bag that you ship and they recycle it... i think it was like $40 per bag
