- I found some great, cheap RV Camping right on PISMO BEACH in California. I'll take you there, show how to get a permit, the drive in and some tips and HOW TO NOT GET STUCK IN THE SAND, thanks to great advice from WonderHowto.com and PopularMechanics.com.
I loved camping right on the beach. The sounds of the waves put me right to sleep, but this is a busy beach with lots of OHV people, especially on the weekends, and everything...I mean EVERYTHING you own will be covered in sand when you leave!

me too...but I wasn't as productive as I hoped:) oh well, I love this life!
I cannot wait to camp by the ocean. My most favorite place to be in the world. My mom/My best friend/My world just passed away in January. I will be taking my little class c for a trip so I can try to heal my heart? I'm not sure if it will help but to be by the ocean and to sprinkle tiny bits of her in it will be very soothing to my soul.
She loved the outdoors and camping life so from even when I was just a newborn she took us kids camping every single summer of my 50 yrs.
I was rebuilding a vintage 1978 22ft class c so she and I could take a National Parks tour this spring but God had other plans different from mine. So I'm going for us both and pray I can feel her with me 😊💕

Years ago we worked down there towing rigs out. After a while you could watch the people drive in and almost tell who was going to get stuck!

We used to spend a few days on Daytona Beach. Just stay at the high tide line as much as possible. Now they don't allow anyone to spend the night on the beach.
A funny/scary story about that. We were sleeping when we realized our van was moving. The tide came in and water was up to the floorboards! We got out of there as fast as possible!!! Oh, the experiences!
Another tip. After getting off the beach, get to a car wash and rinse the sand and salt off the vehicle, including underneath. Otherwise the life of the vehicle will be shortened due to rust/ corrosion.

Two of my favorite things - the beach and the rain!
Great video. We spent 38 days there the year I retired. We had a blast but since it was during the 4Th of July we had people camp right on top of us. Very frustrating to be nice enough to let some one camp close, only to wake up to several of their family members parked feet away from your door. We moved 4 times during that stay. I've been camping at Pismo since my parents would take us there as kids. The boards are not used when you are stuck, they are used to block the wind (which is usually pretty strong). The boards can help in those situations but primarily for the wind. Glad you enjoyed your stay!

Nice! You look so happy! We used to visit Pismo Beach regularly when I was a kid. I carry a tire inflator so I can lower my tire pressure for soft sand and air them back up myself. Yes, looked like Karma. Great vid!

Best way to 'not get stuck' in sand on the beach in a heavy truck, don't drive on the beach in a heavy truck...🙄.
Absotutely gorgeous sunset! It IS absolutely gorgeous there. Don't know if I would have parked on it. Then again, I like to walk with my dog (with a 25' leash), run puppy run! Kudos, girl!

Wow! I am amazed at how much more calm the waves are on the "left" coast than they are on the Carolina coast.
Yeah, I had an experience with getting stuck in the sand on the Outer Banks in NC. A scalper quoted me $150 to pull me out (I was in my Honda Odyssey van, 97°, with my dog), took my credit card info, pulled me out, said goodbye, and then charged me $310! I called him and threatened to share my experience on all of his social media platforms, and he refunded me $100. Better than $310! Lesson learned.

Love your channel, just subscribed thanks. We’ve been camping on the beach there at Pismo for decades, and yes, the secret is airing down. Better to have a 4 x 4, but if you’ve got 2WD airing down to about 12 pounds helps soooooo much. And, of course, knowing how to drive in the sand.

I just found your channel and I'm BUMMED!! You were in my neighborhood and I could have said "HI"!!! I walk up and down this beach fairly regularly and, yes, I see A LOT of people get stuck. This is why I walk the dunes and have never attempted to take my hatchback even though it would be PERFECT to sleep in and wake up on beach! Nice vid!! Hopefully you come around again and I can show you a few other cool spots!

I live in San Luis Obispo County and love visiting that beach. It's very easy to get stuck in the sand there. Even in a Jeep.

Great video, we go to Pismo every summer to camp. Few Corrections though, there is no fine if you help someone get unstuck not sure who told you that. Also tow trucks rarely go out on to the beach anymore, however there is a group of people called The Jerk Pirates Who are a bunch of locals with 4x4 trucks and they hang out on the beach just to help people get unstuck and put videos up on there Facebook page. No charge, but I always tip them a little bit of beer money whenever they helped me just to say thanks.

Wait until you get to the Northern CA coast and then onto the Oregon coast. I think the Oregon coast is the most spectacular. Many years ago I had driven from SoCal back up to Seattle where I lived at the time. I pulled off the road on the 101 to sleep (just in my car) and when I woke up the next morning, I happened to have been parked by the most spectacular coastal scenery. Now I can do it in my RV once I hit the road.
Oh wow. That was a sunset..traffic on the beach. 😯..i would get stuck.. California needs rain, and the beach gets the rain..but all is good...boy, they have services..alot of people must get stuck to have these people to get u out?? Safe travels😎

good video i haven't been to Pismo Beach in 42 years and it still looks the same. when I was there we didn't get stuck but i remember a sand rail getting stuck.the sand rail was up on a sand berm and was stuck up to the axle. i left before he got out so i think he did.anyway thanks for the video and the memory from long ago.

Creativity RV it's a off road vehicle it's usually on 4 wheels and a frame and a roll cage 2 seats but i have seen 4 seats.and you can put what ever motor you want but most put a volkwagon motor in it. there just for off road

My wife just turned me to your channel, the few vids I’ve seen are very good. I haven’t been to Pismo since 2005 but between 1965 and 2005 we went there 3-5 times a year. We had a Jeep and later a buggy and bikes always camping on the beach. We quit going because as the state got more and more involved (starting in the late 70’s early 80’s) the fun/enjoyment began to disappear. I wanted to make sure I heard you correctly on one item, a person will get cited/fined by the state for helping a friend out with his 4X4??? I believe it only because we’re talking about California and the state gets a cut from all the vendors that are licensed for their particular service. If someone wasn’t pulling your leg it’s sad, we used to help most anyone because the vultures (tow trucks) would stick them for 100.00 or more and that was in the early70’s! The Oceano ramp use to dump straight into the surf and these vultures would deliberately tear up the sand so people would get stuck and then charge them big time. The Sheriff finally put a stop to this not the illustrious Rangers. Great channel, looks like your having a great time.
Incorrect ! There are no restrictions on the beach for helping each other get out of the soft sand. I do not know how you can give so much advice when you have never even been there before. Friends and even strangers help tow each other out of trouble hundreds of times every weekend.

Hey Robin, love your channel! My wife and I sold the house, bought a 34' Class A and are crossing the country from Northern New Jersey to settle in Ventura CA. (over 6000 miles so far) I've always wanted to drive on the beach and tonite I finally got the chance at Pismo. So I re-watched your video and headed out. Unfortunately, our experience did not go as well. I was prepared with a shovel, carpets, levelers, and wood and was determined not to get Margo, my 34' motorhome, stuck! (I've seen enough snow in Jersey winters, and figured it would be that different) Started out well, road seemed hard enough and when I saw a bunch of other RVs, I pulled slightly off the packed road and immediately got stuck in a foot deep of soft sand. It was getting dark and all I wanted was to get back onto the hard pack about 4 feet away. I rocked for about 45 minutes heating up the transmission something fierce, but no luck. It was then that some other campers told me that my spot was going to be under two feet of water at high tide tomorrow morning! Yikes! Fortunately some great guys with a 4x4 pulled me out and I decided that my best choice was to hightail it outta there. I'm not sure how you were able to find a spot with firm enough sand that wasn't going to be under water at high tide. Very disappointed, but I will return to Pismo, but in a dune buggy next time, not a 34' Class A!
by any chance did you lower the tire pressure?
Just like getting out of snow. back up and pull forward. Keep a shovel on hand and a couple of boards.

It's kinda freaky driving on a beach for the first time... Especially in a big RV.
Tire pressure under 15lbs. Momentum and not letting off the gas. The minute you let off the gas, that's it, you are stuck
I live 2 hrs away in Fresno. Fresnans go to Pismo ALL THE TIME. For me the perpetual sand EVERYWHERE in the car and tents makes it just not worth camping on the beach.
