At age 55, I will be starting my journey into the world of mobile camping in the spring of 2020. I am watching millions of videos. I've never had a mobile camper, but I am not new to camping. I'm learning through people like you. Thank you very much.

FYI: ranger stations for a given national forest usually have free detailed motor vehicle maps which have dots on where dispersed camping site are and given the maps are huge it makes it much easier to look around then a phone, at least in my opinion

I subscribed to your channel about a month ago and I just have to say I LOVE WATCHING IT! You are so easygoing and drama free. I was watching another nomad for about a year because she gave pretty good information. The longer I watched, the more drama I saw. Also, everything was about patreon, and buying her T-shirt’s and mugs. Thanks for the videos and information!

Depending on season, the sat maps don't show some dirt roads. You have a good idea about daytime scouting, it can be tough to turn around at night.

  • @dieselmax8606

I am enjoying the campsites you pick. National and state parks are very scenic ..they are the same in Canada. I like your idea of having a paper map as well as the digital ones. Sometimes when you are in forested areas the signals are not as good and getting a satellite is difficult so having an alternative is excellent.

Have you boondocked in the White River National Forest in Colorado? We stayed in a cabin at Buford, and it was so beautiful. I loved it more than Rocky Mtn National Park. Since becoming more interested in camping, van-dwelling, etc in the past few months, I will definitely keep my eyes open for those Forest Service Roads when we go back to the cabin in September.

Topozone.com is great site or you can buy a book version. It shows hidden waterfalls and water that alot of other maps won't plus it's great detail map if in an area with no reception. There are some great free spots up Old stage road between the Springs and Victor on the backside of Pike along a stream. Just go up to Victor and head down, the road is maintained better up top, just after the first tunnel. While in Colorado go see Bishops Castle, there is free camping just north of it. Or you can shoot over to Deweese lake, Beautiful views!!

We've been camping for a while now and thus far have avoided crowds but it's definitely that season. My husband is going to lose the enjoyment of it and said he wanted to switch over to public lands as he used to do years and years ago. I enjoy your videos. You do a very good job story telling and information sharing. Bought a used slide-in truck camper and plan to enjoy a lot of both boondocking and conventional camping after winter. My first motivation for the slide-in was to be able to trailer my classic cars to shows and camp at the show. But you and others like you have motivated me to expand my camping to enjoy nature as well drivable art.

The Benchmark maps look like a wonderful resource and I see that their site also has digital maps available, which I think is a wonderful idea.
But. . . they don't do me any good here in the eastern half of the U.S.A.! They only cover the Western states.
Are you aware of any similar maps for the eastern states? They would be invaluable to those of us east of the Mississippi River who love to explore around here.
Thank you for all your wonderful posts; they're informative and fun.

Great information, thank you! As far as the Coconino National Forest, according to the Forest Service rangers, you are only allowed to dispersed camp in the Coconino National Forest for 14 days within a 30 day period. Then you are required to move outside the boundaries of the Coconino National Forest for the remainder of that 30 day period.
