I think the biggest mindset shift for me was that "simplified" gear didn't necessarily mean LESS gear, but the RIGHT gear. Thanks for sharing this gear overview!
Those are great little mics! To make the microboom sound a bit better, I would need a slightly wider lens so I can get it RIGHT above my mouth. Also, I have not loved my little Sennheiser for audio quality. Might try a different microphone as well.
Sometimes! But I would argue that all the items on this list are actually cheaper than most of the traditional alternatives (EXCEPT the Ronin 4D, which doesn't really have an alternative. Except for maybe a pro steadicam setup, then it is much cheaper).
I like the micro boom I just wish there was an option to use a small XLR mic with it. Like the Deity Smic 2s is pretty small and I think it's within the weigh limit of the micro boom so it sucks you cant recycle it with XLR
i have been on the hunt for a set or at least a simplified version for switching camera from gimbal and tripod(can also be tripod and shoulder rig). I mostly shoot films, and always required me to switch my setup from tripod to either shoulder rig or gimbal( never all these from my experience). i wanna talk about gimbal and tripod setups mainly( most common switching) as gimbal requires camera to be stripped down quite a bit or at least relocate monitor, v mount battery and readjust cables. there is much that we can do when it comes to cables but i have found out that using kondor blue quick lock mini to top handle, monitor and side handle has made things a bit easier. additionally sticking with dji plates that are manfrotto style for tripod also makes it faster to change set ups. I am still in search of a perfect setup that might allow me to as fast as dji ronin 4d when it comes to switching. I like ronin 4d personally but have found some issues, for me as least that might not suit for films( slow readout speed, super expensive media, lack of lens support and weight capacity). If you have any suggestions to make these switches faster and more efficient, please let us know. thank you for the great video!
As a smaller person, I struggle with the weight of the Ronin4D (working on my upper body strength) but love the camera. Have you ever used the Thanos SE support or would you recommend another camera support for the 4D? (Also, as a fellow DP and West Virginia native, I love your work and you make us proud :)
Hey fellow West Virginian! Thanks for watching. And yes, the Ronin 4D is heavy. I have not used the Thanos SE system, but it could work. I'm a bit hesitant to recommend something that attaches from the bottom because that's where the 4D sensors are. I use an Easyrig and that works great with the 4D.
Great video, and good ideas! Using vmount as opposed to NPF simplified my process, as well as using only 3 different lenses. What camera would you choose if you didn't need the gimbal aspect of the DJI 4d? I usually shoot fitness type videos, outdoors (changing lighting), and would like a full frame. Thanks so much!
Not full frame, but the Canon C70 is the best bang for buck camera out there right now, especially since I’ve seen them for $3500-4000 on the used market.

Totally. And sometimes spending a bit more money on something that simplifies the process and just does the job is worth it.
You deserve WAY more views. Love how clear, detailed, and to the point you are. Just subscribed.
Much appreciated!
Appreciate the concise video. I actually thought that Hollyland audio was better than the micro boomed audio.

Simplicity sure is EXPENSIVE!!!

You’re so right 🔋

Tripod, monopod, gimbal, neck strap, and cameras all with the one mount. Simplified. Makes it a joy to use.

@@CurrenSheldon Thank you, though I hate the ridiculousness of the Easyrig, that's a great suggestion.
