  • 21 yrs ago, one of the worst school shootings happened in Colorado. The Columbine High School Massacre has become one of the most infamous events in America. I take you to Columbine High School and show you where all of the victims were killed and show you inside the school (including the library).

To those who thought Dylan killed more, I put the official report at 25:13 if you want to see it. On that report, it shows Eric killed 7, Dylan killed 2 and they killed 4 together. Also, I was wrong on where Rachel's body was found. Her body was right by the entrance but they had dragged her body where I said it was.

Austin Eubanks died of an overdose in 2019. He never returned to columbine and was homeschooled till he graduated in 2000. He struggled with staying sober since the massacre. He was shot twice and his best friend was killed in front of him. The level of life long trauma inflicted upon those who survived is something that needs to be talked about more. Truly sad. Same with the mother of Carla Hochhalter.

Her mother was Carla. Sad about Austin, the shooting definitely contributed to his demons.

    • @michaellovely6601

Carla was the mother of Anne Marie Hochhalter. Reading her story made me feel so sorry for Anne Marie as she was really put through the wringer after the shooting at Columbine High School. Aside from being paralyzed from the shooting and having to get used to life in a wheelchair; Anne Marie also had to deal with the stress of media intrusion. Though the biggest blow Anne Marie suffered occurred six months after the shooting when her mother Carla committed suicide. This was extremely upsetting for Anne Marie as she not only had to grieve the suicide of her mother but also had to deal with the renewed stress over media intrusion. When asked if Columbine drove her mother to commit suicide; Anne Marie is quick to say no and explains that her mother had struggled with Depression for years, so while Columbine didn't cause her mother to become depressed or commit suicide it didn't help her either. Shortly after Dylan's mother Sue Klebold published her book "A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy" Anne Marie published an open letter to Sue on Facebook that was of forgiveness instead of condemnation. Anne Marie explained that her decision to forgive Sue Klebold stemmed from the realization that holding onto the feelings of anger and hatred towards Sue was doing nothing for her aside from weighing her down. Following the publication of Sue's book and her sitting down with ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer on "20/20" Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman took to the Twitter account for the state's attorney general's office and Tweeted that Sue's interview was "irresponsible and inflammatory" adding in a separate tweet that by speaking out Sue Klebold won't be preventing future school shootings and would instead indirectly inspire other mentally unstable teenagers to lash out at their classmates and teachers the same way her son did on April 20th, 1999. Anne Marie's dad Ted Hochhalter chewed out Cynthia Coffman for what she said and explained that someone in as high of a position of power as hers shouldn't have such a dismissive and flippant attitude towards mental illness or school shootings and school violence in general. Ted also explained that not talking about the aforementioned issues and pretending that they don't exist won't make the problem go away. I agree with Mr. Hochhalter and I also find it extremely unprofessional of Cynthia to use the Twitter account for her place of employment instead of her own personal Twitter account.

There was also John Savage, who hid under the library tables, and actually talked to Dylan Klebold during the shooting. He was spotted under the table, and identified himself to Dylan because he figured he knew him a little (and "wasn't a threat"). Their conversation went as such:
*John:* (Nervously) Hey, Dylan. What are you doing?
*Dylan:* ( _Sigh_ ) Just killing people.
*John:* Huh...Are you gonna kill me?
*Dylan:* What? (because of the smoke alarms)
*John:* Are you gonna kill me?
    (Pause, Dylan in contemplation)

Savage did just that, and ran as fast as he could out of the school.

As a Columbine senior present that day, it still feels the same even after all these years. It blows my mind that even after this long, people are still so touched by it and effected by our tragedy. I can speak for us all when saying that it means a lot and still helps us in our healing process, even 22 years later. I appreciate how sensitive you were to the deceased and how you made sure to point out some of the details that the Media still gets wrong. So many stories have been told that aren't true and it's nice hearing some people actually doing the work to find the real truth.
Every once in a while, my twisted way of healing is to Google my maiden name and Columbine, just to see what new information has been created, things maybe I've missed in the news, etc and this time I found you lol. @Anti Masonic @Anti Masonic oh goodness, I've heard many but never mannequins. I can confirm that there were no mannequins harmed in that experience 😉👍🏽 Just real people, no dummies or props needed that day unfortunately. Considering I walked out of the choir room, down the stairs, through the lunch room & commons area, out the double doors and through the student parking lot just minutes before the first shots were heard...Im pretty confident that there weren't any mannequins anywhere that day. Mystery solved lol.
I dont remember a Robert Perry but that doesn't mean I didn't know him if he was a classmate, I just don't remember everyone now, 20+ yrs later as I did then. But I can assure everyone that there were only 2 shooters that day and Eric & Dylan were the dicks doing it. For a while there, meaning a few days afterwards, we had a couple people in mind that many of us thought may have known it was going to happen when it did but after many interviews and discussions with investigators, it was confirmed that our suspicions were wrong and those individuals were just as surprised & devastated as the rest of us. It's hard to understand how those two did all that all alone and to this day, I believe more people knew or at least had an idea of what Eric & Dylan wanted to do but I don't think any of them truly believed they'd pull it off, ya know? Who could ever really believe that? Even if they talked about it everyday, even then...we were kids...I would've never truly believe it would happen and neither did they. Until it did. And those individuals talked to authorities and told what they knew or heard but nobody really thought they'd hurt people.
Satanists? I don't know what they felt deep down inside and nobody ever will but I think their notes, journals & actions tell us where their heads were at. From what I knew of them, I don't think so but I didn't know them intimately, just as classmates and the occasional smoke-break buddy when we'd sneak out of class to have a cigarette behind the school and I never sensed evil in them. Never once.
Eric was very kind to me, even sharing cigarettes on multiple occasions. So, when you hear that they were racists, I don't think that's fair. Only 1 person claims they heard them call Isaiah the N word before shooting him and that person holds they key to this rumor 🙄 Maybe they did but I'm here to tell everyone that I'm black...mixed race black & white and Eric & Dylan shared cigarettes with me without hesitation. We'd tell our English teacher we needed to pee, meet at the end of the hall and sneak outside together to smoke. All 3 of us, at least twice a week, without race ever being an issue. They were nice to me and I'm black 😉 So there's that. Not saying they didn't say those things that day, just sayin...
Any other questions? I'm happy to chat. XO

Littleton, Colorado is where I'm from and I just want to say thank you for not treating our local school like a tourist trap. I'm not going to lie, I was cringing at first because I thought you somehow got into the school. Thank you for not doing so; police have to sit by that school constantly with how many people try to get into the school. I'm glad that the library doesn't exist anymore and that the school went through major renovations after the school.
But thank you, again, for not treating this like a tourist destination. It means a lot to me; Littleton is such a boring little suburb and I hate that 21 years later, this is all it's remembered for.

A few years ago there were discussions of possibly tearing down Columbine High School but ultimately the decision was to leave the building standing. This decision I respect because if the school board and the community voted in favor of demolishing Columbine High School it would be essentially pretending that the tragedy never happened.

@@ParadisePoisson That is true. What I was talking about occurred in 2019 when after the threat by Sol Pais; there were discussions among the school board and community leaders about tearing down Columbine High School and rebuilding the campus. I watched a segment about the 20th anniversary of the tragedy on the "Today" show on NBC wherein Hoda Kotb interviewed Rachel Scott's mother and brother along with the school's former principal Frank DeAngelis and three former Columbine students who have returned as teachers. Noelle Sudano- who was in her Sophomore year at the time of the tragedy- remembered her first day back quite vividly because there were lines of parents on the sidewalk to shield the students on their way into the building.

I went to Smoky Hill & at the time, there was chatter that someone had set off bombs, but by the time I got to my class, everyone was aware of the actual magnitude of those tragic events! We even had a freaking track meet that day & none of us could believe the district was still going to go on with it, but then, before the meet even got started that afternoon, they announced on the loud speakers that it was cancelled to honor all those lives lost. Additionally, I attended Isaiah’s funeral. I didn’t know him personally, but felt compelled to go. I didn’t stay for its entirety, just too overcome with emotions & seeing him in his casket, in his cap & gown with his diploma, really was so crushing to see. He & the rest of them should’ve been graduating along with me. Columbine will forever haunt me to my core & I pray the victims & loved ones are at peace, though, I’m not sure how🕊🙏🏽So very tragic😭

They both needed therapy, and generally just having older friends to get advice from would've been helpful. A lot of kids their age are under a lot of pressure because they feel like you have to have your whole life figured out either by the time high school ends or when you turn eighteen. That combined with rejection, depression, lack of validation, inferiority complex, jealousy/hostility, and some cultural influences (I don't want to say violent video games and movies did or didn't have an influence on them in regards to their crime, but they were both obviously interested in the two subjects as exemplified by the films they made.).
The thing is, both of them were fairly intelligent and I think would have experienced a life of success if they just got past high school and found their calling. Eric put all his hope into joining the military though, and when he was rejected, he probably figured well, "that's it," and encouraged/influenced Dylan - a guy who's already majorly depressed and suicidal - to began planning for his "revenge" fantasy.
To think, if they just stuck with filmmaking, or went to college and learned programming, or any of their other various interests. A wasted potential for them both.

It makes the tragedy real and brings home to your heart that it really happened. That's what memorials are for and grave sites. To keep us remembering so we don't repeat it or know better how to deal with it. It's too easy to sit in front of a screen and see images than it is to actually be there. Or worse, be someone who lived through it as a bystander or directly involved. This like so many events similar are scars from wounds. The wounds heal but the scars remain. Let us not forget!

Eric was the dominant in this “friendship”. I personally think that Dylan was a follower of Eric. Dylan just went a long with a lot of Eric’s ideas, rants, etc. Dylan was super depressed and pretty much was willing to die by suicide (as indicated in his writings shown in his personal journal.) Dylan felt lost, unattractive, he felt his life was a mess and he just basically felt he had no direction in life. Eric on the other hand, had some major issues. He was a psychopath who was able to pose as someone who was a good guy, likable, he was attractive, had no problems with getting girls attention, he was smart but more than anything he was a master manipulator. He completely and no doubt manipulated a lot of Dylan’s decisions. Basically by bonding with Dylan over several different things that the two of them had in common. Be it the old computer game Doom, both being HUGE fans of the movie Natural Born Killers, their warped fascination with firearms and plenty more shit that I have absolutely no idea about.
Bottom line, these two kids played off one another’s darkest fantasies. And I hate to use the word “fantasy” bcuz in my opinion a fantasy is something someone has that should be something beautiful or amazing. But when it comes to Eric and Dylan, they took each other’s warped fantasies of murder, destruction, chaos, hate, anger and God knows what else....... they took all of those inner feelings and fed off them and made some horrible decisions that to this day continues to ruin so many lives.
I wish these boys would have known that high school doesn’t last forever. They had a lot going for them. Things get better. Bully’s don’t always bully. Everyone grows up and moved on in life. Such a great loss of life for everyone.
My heart still hurts bcuz of this day. I hope all included can Rest In Peace.

No. Both at fault. Both are able to speak for themselves. Your not Collins Know the truth before writing this. Dylan wanted to with someone else but who knows about that person. But Eric did in the end. Both were as messed up as the other. They both had girl issues but im sure Eric had a less harder time showing his cockyness

It’s only an opinion and my opinion at that. I’m simply stating my personal opinion based on what I have read, what I have learned and based on what I personally think.
So until I am no longer allowed to utilize my freedom of speech in this wonderful country of ours, I’ll continue to post any and all opinions that I may have. Right or wrong. That’s the amazing thing about having the freedom of speech. As a community, country or even as a fellow man/woman in this world...... we all say what we feel. And learn from others based on said statements. So if I was wrong then please sir, do forgive my ignorance. But even if I’m wrong or right when posting my opinions, I’ll keep doing so just bcuz I can.
With that, I will end my post with a salute to u my dear and my most sincere apologies for my misinformation and ignorance of posting incorrect information. If it wasn’t for self pretentious assholes such as urself - the rest of us morons would be lost. Fuck ya later.

My prayers and condolences go out to all the families and friends that were hurt by this situation I lived in Denver Colorado for a while and I drove by there plenty of times and every time I would drive by I would just pray inside my head to God to heal all the hurt.. bless you all and thank you so much for sharing this video.. it's sad that still to this day there are school shootings😭

At 11:17, you show Rachel Joy, but that’s NOT where she and Richard were shot. They were actually sitting together, directly right of the school entrance, leaning against the library building. The firemen had dragged her and Richard around and away from the building, sending Richard off in an ambulance and leaving Rachel there temporarily.
This was so shocking and very, very sad.

For those who don't know about Dave Sanders, he heard shooting outside and ran through the cafeteria and nearby areas warning and evacuating others. He saved many lives. Unfortunately, he then encountered the shooters in the hall on the way to evacuate the library and was shot.
He and many others ended up locked in a schoolroom. The people with him repeatedly tried to get help because he was bleeding out, but police didn't enter for more than three hours after the shooters died and he died with a Swat team member just before a paramedic reached him.
His death and those of students in the library showed that the strategy for mass shooter incidents needed to change from containment to immediate action rapid deployment response in order to save as many lives as possible.

I was a senior in high school. I remember coming home and seeing this on the news. I knew some one who knew Rachel Scott and happen to be the one who told her she was among those killed. I heard Craig’s story of hiding under the table in the library with Matt Kechter & Isaiah Shoels. I will never forget this shooting and living in fear the rest of the school year. Refused to go back to the library, where I spent my study hall usually.

Thank you for your story on Columbine. However, the school is still plagued with people driving by and taking pics. This has created a new generation of frightened kids. Imagine sitting in class and seeing people out on the street taking videos and pointing out where the horror took place. Honestly they should rename the school and build a new one. They can still be the Rebels, but a new school name.

There were initial discussions about tearing down Columbine High School as a means of having all signs of the tragedy erased and constructing a new school with a different name but the same school colors and team name. What ultimately kept this from occurring was the following two factors:
1.) Cost. How much would it cost to demolish the old building and then construct a new one?
2.) While the construction of the new building is going on; how many of the high schools in Jefferson County are willing and able to open their doors and welcome the students of Columbine onto their campuses and for how long?

I agree. For the parents of the deceased this would be the time in their lives that they’d be enjoying the grandchildren they don’t have. And all memories of the Christmases, and all birthdays, and their children going to college, and getting married that they don’t have. All the memories that they don’t have because their children didn’t get to live. And how that pain would be never ending with all the milestones that never happened. And all the students that survived but laden with survivors guilt and PTSD. This kind of tragedy has far reaching ripples that go on for years, touching generations of families. When those two decided to end or alter the students lives that day they also ended and altered the lives of everyone that loves and misses them as well. They devastated a whole community that day and that was probably what they intended.

In an interview with the guy who wrote the book about the whole thing, he had access to both of their diaries and he said u could see the glaring difference between the 2 of them. Eric wrote about hate, the people he hated, why he hated them. Dylan wrote about love, the people he loved, things he loved to do, he even attended prom 2 days prior. Bottom line, Eric was interested in a massacre, Dylan was interested in suicide and unfortunately took the route he did to get there. Maybe it's just a coincidence but that could be why Dylan wasn't "responsible" for as many deaths.

@@BrookeKatherine. The way I see it; if Eric and Dylan had been taken alive they would be facing a lot of criminal charges. Specifically they would face numerous charges of First Degree Murder, Battery with a Firearm, Detonation of Explosive Devices in a Public Building (pertaining to the detonation of the numerous pipe bombs, Molotov Cocktails, and CO2 cartridges they detonated inside the school,) Obtaining Firearms Through Illegal Means, Illegal Possession of a Deadly Weapon (pertaining to the numerous guns and knives they carried,) Destruction of Property, Illegal Detonation of an Explosive Device in a Public Setting (pertaining to the diversionary bomb that was used in an effort to distract emergency personnel,) and Attempted Mass Murder (with regard to the bombs they planted in the cafeteria.) Hate crime charges would be applicable to the death of Isaiah Shoels (for obvious reasons) and a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder would be applicable to the injuring of Kacey Reugsegger as the gunshot wounds she received had severed a major artery and could have killed her had Craig Scott not evacuated her to safety. Since Dylan Klebold was seventeen years old at the time of the shooting prosecutors would not be able to seek the Death Penalty against him due to his age. Eric Harris would have no doubt been sentenced to death for his role in the shooting whereas Dylan would have been given numerous life sentences. Both of the boys would be incarcerated at the Colorado State Penitentiary in Cañon City and Eric would ultimately be executed here.
