Vervet Monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) Alarm Call & Sounds & Noises | Monkey Video
The Vervet Monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) is well known to Kruger National Park visitors. It is the most common Primate in the Kruger, and can be seen around any water sources and they do forage in every Rest Camp in the Park, as well as many picnic spots and lookout points.
Unfortunately they have a bad reputation, because over the years, people have fed them and made them accustomed to humans. Every now and then a child will get bitten by one of the Vervet Monkeys, but this is not their natural behaviour, it is only because humans have fed them or encouraged them.
The Vervet Monkey is very smart and cunning, and they are a favourite prey of Leopard when they are sleeping at night high up in the Tree's.
This video was taken in Pretoriuskop Rest Camp, and is of a mother and her young baby. The calls in the background are the alarm calls of the Vervet Monkeys and the general sounds they make.
