It's painful to see them look so old and unwell, but they'll never be forgotten for the amazing films they made. They were as close as friends could be and that's lovely to watch.
Back in those days there were no real ways promoted in order to keep yourself healthy, a lot of people just grew older way before their time and didn't notice. Its still like that for some today actually.
Nostalgia is what one feels when watching this video... nostalgia is bitter/sweet.... sweet in that they existed and did such wonderful films...bitter than they no longer exist on Earth to continue...
It’s just beautiful to see two guys (partners) in Hollywood who were dear close friends to the end. Not speaking to each other through lawyers like they do today . They had a genuine affection for one another which always came through on film. Thanks for all the great laughs over the years.
Stan, of the Laurel and Hardy legend crossed over on 23rd February, 1965. Before dying, he quipped to his nurse that he'd like to go skiing. When she asked if he was a skier he said: "No, but I'd rather be skiing than doing what I'm doing." A comedian to the end, and a star that'll forever shine.
Indeed. I imagine as his last moment came, he drifted out of his aged, sickly body, young and clad in a derby once more, and took Babe’s waiting hand to join him in entertaining the angels for eternity.
Loved these two when I was little. Used to watch them growing up, I'm 28 now. My dad had them all on VHS lol I hope my daughter will grow up loving these two too. Legends!
This makes me happy but also sad. I wish people like them to be forever young and do crazy funny stuff. I hope future human beings will not forget that era.
They set a new level in comedy that i believe has never been brokenTodays artists owe so much to these two and some may not even realise were it came from.Hard to believe there films go back to the 1920's. If you dislike them you just dont get it. And if you get it you love them. Thanks for posting
Loved those guys! They were a bright spot on a cold and dreary winter Saturday when I was a kid back about the time this home movie was made. This clip reminds me of a happier time in the world! Thank you for sharing it! I was the one kid in my neighborhood who could mimic Stan Laurel and my friends loved it!
two original greats, there performances surpassed any of the comedians of that era and even now there popularity does not fade with time, there films gain them more fans then ever before, they have gone down in history as the greatest comedy duo ever and quite rightly so an acolade they unduly deserve. well done lads, its just a shame we will never see the likes of you again. you were truly unique
God bless you guys you may be gone but not forgotten you brought laughter for generations here we are laughing hysterically your legacy of laughter still continues on you guys rock thanks ! Joe
Two of the greatest comedy performers of the 20th century. Long before the digital age of TV their comedy shorts and films were shown on television and for a child of the 1960s' entertained and amused me and every member of my family (and still do so). They didn't get half the recognition they deserved but I console myself that they are both still loved and admired by millions.
I was introduced to L+H as a child, and I'm now 30 and still love their films. I have every thing they ever made, and watch them all the time; still funny to this day. Agree with another comment that today's TV/film is so depressing in comparison. I know times are hard at the minute, but at the time these films were made people were still recovering from WW1 and gearing up for WW2 and they still had time to smile, which is something many have forgotten sadly. Long live the work of L+H!
It's hard to watch these two kids without tearing up a bit, they are timeless classics that we could all learn from, no matter how hard your situation, there is always room for a laugh.
I was pretty down all day until I stumbled upon this gem of a video. As I kid in the 70s I watched a lot of their movies on television and this brought back those memories for me. Thank you.
Two old but awesome men! They were the best and will always be, i have shown films of laurel & hardy to the younger generation, they never fail to be loved and appreciated, they will live on forever!
I used to go to Saturday morning pictures as a child it was sixpence, and Laurel & Hardy are one of my precious memories of those fresh innocent days that we then children grew up in
Even the most beloved immortals age, but they are still, and always will be, a remarkable pair, the best duo the movies ever had. Long live Stan and Ollie! And thanks for leaving us so many great, inimitable movies.
laurel and hardy will be remembered for ages for their hilarious comedies.they have really entertained the masses during their life time.an incredible duo performance of the legends which makes u laugh even today.
I love the bright, peppy, jazzy music in this clip. Taken straight from the old Hal Roach shorts. It's good to see these two in color. Amazing how much weight Ollie lost! He looks like a completely different person. Stan can't use his left arm, but other than that he seems to have recovered well from the stroke. I love these two and I always will. Thanks for posting this.
Erano unici!
I was introduced to Laurel and Hardy through my family, my grandma being born in the early 30s. I remember setting at the family tablet at 6 and watching these old Stan&Ollie sketches. My mother always told me to stop after 10 minutes, for the black and white vids were apparently bad for the eyes. Hehe, so funny to remember. But here I am, 10 years later, still cherishing Laurel and Hardy's talent and legacy deeply!
Thank You all who posted such a treasure , and I especially thank all of You at TH-cam.............Best wishes , all , and God bless.....................Dee
My favourite episode was when they wanted to go on their males club holiday and there wives wouldn't let them, so they said they were going on another holiday on a ship, then their wives find out that the ship has sunk and then you see them at the cinema and they watch a news reel with there husbands on their males only holiday. Seeing them old always reminds me how we should think of all the changes that the older generation have seen, I think of my nan who was born in 1922 and thankfully is still with us, she ran a shop with her ex-husband, brought up three children, lived through world war 2 whilst working in a factory, saw rock and roll come along, lived with rationing after the war, and still tells me that I should get rid of my beard and when to get a haircut, bless you nan, bless Stan and Ollie and lots of the older generation that have done so much for us.
+Elias Ntarlas Great timing........just like the 2 lads themselves :) I think Coogan and Reilly will do well, athough it would have been nice to search for and find 2 great unknowns. This worked very well with Morecombe and Wise the early years.
+Elias Ntarlas It's only about one small aspect of their lives at the end of their careers. Combining two biographies of such complex characters is almost impossible, especially turning into a screenplay. Another aspect - the ancestry and early life of Hardy - is available as a free e-book. norvell-hardy.co.uk/
This was a short movie called One Moment, Please, by director Andy Wade. It was shot at Stan's daughter's home in California, when she was married to Rand Brooks. The first sequence is at Hardy's home in Van Nuys.
So sad when people we love leave us I look at these 2 and I realise we will all grow old and change.Ollie looked fit but not the guy I remember Stan only look's older these 2 joker's I wish could have lived forever although alway's in the 30s 40s when they were megastar's and esp with James Finlayson the wee dour goggle eyed Scotsman.

Indeed. They were platonic soulmates.

Sweetheart I’m a big fan of theirs too! I was wondering who was that young man that stood between them in front of their house?
Andy Wade, who made the film.
As a kid i met them at Wickstead Park in England. Even now well into my 70s they still make me smile.
Bowler hats were never more suited than for the iconic wonderful comedy team of STAN and OLLY. Thank you for posting.

@@raymondbermudez5660 we re in 2022, the young man is at least 86 years old now. 🤭
One of the best comedy duos we were ever graced with.
