He closed a 1m 10s gap in about 3 kilometers. He knows Masnada has been in the break all day and is too slow. He can't rely on Masnada to widen the gap, so there is no point in flicking his arm. Masnada 's pace is too slow, and he knows he'll drop him anyway.

And to answer my own question, be it "who had the highest FTP relative to body weight ever?" I think it was Tony Rominger during his Hour Record attempt. He went faster than Wiggins by 2 or 3 kph while being lighter and on old and relatively un-aero equipment.
in fact his bike was much more aerodynamic than the present ones. after his attempt standard measures of the bikes were changed, that's why he could go faster than wiggins

Good lord. I really wish I could appreciate efforts like this, but my innocence was lost long ago. JA in the Tour was one thing, but his 19 year-old teammate is another altogether. Quick Step are on some next level shit, that is for sure.
Actually, he has done similar things as a junior long before Quick Step came into the picture. He won the European Championships in 2018 with an advantage of almost 10 minutes.
When his junior results are used as a reason why he is clean, we all know we're scraping the bottom of the barrel. Junior riders turned pro are fully aware of the culture. Neither they nor their parents are oblivious to what the hell is going on, especially in Belgium. Winning solo with a 10 minute gap in Europe is suspicious, to say the very least. That said, I wish nothing but the best for the guy. I hope he does well, but not for one second will I think he did it sans drugs.
@@mggailitis7231 You're contradicting yourself. Pantani I believe
Consider that during the Armstrong era almost everyone was doping...
Contador had a 20 min effort of 447watts at 62kgs in 2014 giving him a ftp of around 425watts, 20 mins at over 7w/kg.
I think Pantani
Likely even now could casually jump on a bike and give an ass kicking to most but the top dogs in the pro peloton.
What does he mean by if he was more experienced, he'd stick an elbow out?
It means he'd let the other guy lead for a bit to conserve energy. A "flick of the elbow" signals the other rider that it's his turn to lead.
I think his name is Evenepoel.
But could he win bucs
