Greatest thing in the world to hear Bobke with Phil. I miss Paul so much, but it's like being with close friends to hear these two I've been listen to for decades. Thanks, NBC, Phil and Bob.
If magical powers gave me the strength to participate in one race, that race would be Paris-Roubaix. The distance, the cobbles, the history, the velodrome, and the famous showers, all bestow a legendary quality on the race. Love Paris-Roubaix.
I just love how when Wout Van Aert switches bikes (@ 11:12) he doesnt throw the bike he just places it down. Big sign of respect for equipment and for all!!!
Wout Van Aert will win that race in a year or two. He showed more heart than I have seen in a long time. He looked a little nervous though. He is young and will figure that out.
I think van der Poel is also made for these types of races, really excited to see the battle between these two riders. Hope van Aert can reach his old level...
I haven't heard Phil commentate since....yeah. Very hard not to think of it. Phil I'm sure you're sick but I also hear the loss in your voice. Thanks for carrying on commentating, cycling needs you now as much as ever. The good news is you have Bobke by your side, the affable American, I wish you both good speed as you set out as a commentary team this year. It was great to hear the commentary. I do agree with others who commented about the editing - the music - being "rather a bit much," as a British speaker might say. But it's great to hear Phil and Bobke.
Just hit me. After 20 years Of looking forward to tdf, Really Gonna miss Paul’s significant intelligent contributions. Bob is good. I will be watching (good luck) Phil and Bob.
Such a fascinating history. Some towns would not allow the race to come through because they thought publicly displaying "shoddy" roads would be bad for tourism. As the race became more prestigious some towns actively searched for any cobble sections they could find to bring the race there.
back to back mistakes on the velo finish. front rider should be in the bottom of velo instead of top to avoid the launch for sprint. Happened last year and it happened again this year.
you didn't even bother to finish the video. the crashes was just the first part because after 4:30, It's all about the important highlights of the race.
@Smattless Paris-Roubaix is not Parix-Roubaix without crashes. That's why its the most wonderful race to watch because it's a race of attrition, survival of the fittest. Also, I'm not defending anything. As what I have said, the other half of the video is all about the important part of the race and not crashes just like what the original commenter said.
this is pretty bad. the race is more than just crashes. we need a little more build up of the narrative of how hard and epic this race is before showing a bunch of people falling over. it ends up making these guys look like a bunch of amateurs. AND the music AND the spoiler. come on, y'all.
thanks nbc sports for showing the highlights.seeing how I missed the last 25 minuites of race I had recorded due to starting late.because I guess you think hockey is a better sport....lame.anyway good race as always.bob is great.but I'll always miss pauls insight and witt.
He knew he was gonna lose. Gilbert is faster and the way he dropped Politt with 50k to go and the ease with which he closed the gap when Politt went with 14k to go, you knew he was stronger too.
At least NBCSN posts this as I recorded what I thought was the entire race only to have it preempted by hockey highlights and then stopping 9.7 km to the finish.
So the music is not that big a deal like some of the other guys are crying about. The spoiler in the thumbnail is poor form. These highlights were ok to watch.
The Tour de France's highlight package of this race does a better job of showcasing the race than this poorly edited version. This is like watching a football highlight reel were they feature only the incompleted passes and then show you the winning touchdown.
If i were the katushcha rider, i would've just slammed on the brakes with 2ks to go, rather than play leadout for another team... hmmm i wonder what was going on in his mind.
Is this what NAS CAR fans feel like? I mean when the most exiting things are crushes in the race and how to Evade the road, you have got to ask yourself where is this sport going.
This is a bad highlight reel. I'm sorry but Americans don't get what cycling is all about if you look at this reel. It's so much better here in belgium. This video gives cycling a bad name.

Big ups to bobke, 5 starts, 5 finishs.

Well the majority of Roubaix victories are Belgian, so perhaps that's the superpower you need? :P
This should be called "Paris Roubaix 2019 - Crash Complilation"
100 percent
So, that makes 4 of the Monuments for Gilbert. One of the great riders.
That's an understatement :)
RIP Paul Sherwen. We miss you.
Big compliment for Philippe and his performances. Nobody else is able to win such different races.
Paris Roubaix n Strade Bianche are my fave classics. Brutal races!
None more brutal than P-R

Bobke's commentary is awesome. Really enjoyed hearing him at the race.
I cannot believe Politt would lead out and then stay high so Gilbert could drop below him with speed and the shortest way around the track. Mon dieu!
Best trophy in sports
Every year, such a great race it doesn't need a soundtrack.
the video was great except the background music, it's distracting.
and why did they put so much emphasis on the falls? I mean thats not what cycling is.
@@felixbelair9251 It's made for Americans. Crashes and emotional music is required

Brutal. Cycling is the most brutal sport on the planet, more then any combat. Crashes plus doping!

my favourite cycling race
and condolences for the friends and family of Michael Goolaerts
Why does Sagan have Slovinian flag instead Slovakian next to his name at the Final results?
Such a legendary race
if the guy in the red helmet didn't look back so often he may have saved enough energy to win 😂
canyon and Specialized are really at the top of their game.
Congratulations Phil, you made my day :-)
Melhor resumo de prova que já assisti.
Superb highlight wrap up
I will do anything NBC, just please more cycling youtube videos
Wout Van Aert is the perfect portrayal of the Classics.. well done Gilbert. Bravo
WTF is with the spoiler thumbnail NBC and the horrific music?
back to back mistakes on the velo finish. front rider should be in the bottom of velo instead of top to avoid the launch for sprint. Happened last year and it happened again this year.
Thank you.
Vitória bonita deste grande ciclista!
Horrible summary of the race. Just crashes... Cycling is not about crashing!
Prais-Roubaix is
Media puts out what captures our attention.. so be it.. Hats down to the world pros!
Crashing is not the central focus, but is certainly a part of cycling, especially at that level.

What a rider
Great race. The music, not so much.
awesome video!
Forever a strongman
That mini skid there and the commentators almost came :D
Team Lotto Jumbo not sending a rider to help Van Aert must have been one of the fails of the year

Interesting to see Politt lead the final sprint and open the inside lane for Gilbert to go right through. Odd choice.
He knew he was gonna lose. Gilbert is faster and the way he dropped Politt with 50k to go and the ease with which he closed the gap when Politt went with 14k to go, you knew he was stronger too.
...and if Politt doesn't lead, then Gilbert leads, lets Lampaert come back...then Gilbert attacks again.
Politt was in a tough spot.
dclark142002 there was no way Lampaert was coming back in the velodrome unless they literally stopped tho
Wonderful highlights. Open region (Asia) to watch more videos plzzz, thanks 🙏
are those: gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes or standard race bikes ?????????????
At least NBCSN posts this as I recorded what I thought was the entire race only to have it preempted by hockey highlights and then stopping 9.7 km to the finish.
Same happened to me!
chapeau Gilbert
AARGH if there's going to be backggound music at least make it something fast paced and exciting to match the race.
I'm always amazed that the Brits don't do better on the cobbles. I mean we've got the whole of the road network to train on.

For NBC Sports "highlights" apparently means listing crashes. A fine demonstration of not understanding what cycling is about.
@clean cyclist He he 🤘
It’s all the pain and suffering that makes the victory so beautiful.
what's with the orchestra music?
This is a video of lowlights, not highlights
This race.
So the music is not that big a deal like some of the other guys are crying about. The spoiler in the thumbnail is poor form. These highlights were ok to watch.
What’s up with the music this is cycling and not an avengers movie 😂
Финиш когда оба на пустых, но Жильбер чуть больше сохранил
Lots of little crashes, any moves by any teams?
Way to give away the winner in the thumbnail

hahaha why would you put music under this
10:28 jow peter sagan is slovakian not slovenian
Missing Favian "Spartacus" Cancellara.....
Ummm what’s up with peter Sagan and EF Rider at 9:40 ?? Right corner screen lol
They still had a lap left at that point.
Appreciate the summary but please dump the music. Its unnecessary and annoying - Phil and Bob are all we need.

Music over the top is, er, over the top.
🤔highlights? Or just all the crashes??

Very poor editing. Clips of crashes and spills is not highlights of the racing. And the music? What's that all about. Gave up watching.
