I love my 55mm f/1.8 SMC Tak. That lens blows my mind every time I use it. It renders like a vintage Summicron I own. The SMC Taks bat way they hell out of their league.
I completely agree. These lenses are hidden gems in the camera world. I think the pentax users have kept quiet hoping us Nikon shooters wouldnt notice!!!😂📸
@@davidsaylors More, after i watched your video, guess what: I have bought one. Is gorgeous and made a very nice pictures ! Thank you again, sir and keep going !!! Greetings from Bucharest, Romania.
I just picked up the same lens and it really is amazing. Shooting on my XT-3 (and Pentax film camera). $30.00. It's one notch below my Fuji lens 55-200 1:4, but still very good.
I think mine ended up having fungus in it to be honest. I should get another copy and rerun it at some point, I just could not get good images out of it. That isnt normal for me either.
Hi David, thoroughly enjoyed it great review. Would you be kind enough to clear something up for me please. I've just purchased a Pentax k-5 and was wondering which vintage lenses fit directly onto the K5, k5ii, k3 etc with auto focus. I've scoured the internet and to be honest it's just caused a whole lot of confusion. Kindest regards and many thanks for reviewing this great lens, you speak in layman's terms which helps a great deal
I honestly have no idea about the newer Pentax systems. I just adapt the older glass to my Fujifilm XT3 and use it as manual lenses. The older glass wont autofocus mainly because it lacks the mechanical drive to get it to move. You focus with your hand and I am not sure when their autofocus lenses start. I did look at the kind of camera you bought and I must say, it looks impressive. Sorry I cannot be more help...
Really nice job on the video and photos and it looks like that lens is going to serve you well!
Thanks! I agree. This is a sleeper.

Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it!!! 👊😉📸 Im glad to hear yours works great too!
Great review David. I've used Pentax cameras in the past, (1990s-2000s) definitely tanks indestructible. I believe that lense will do you well.
Thank you George, it is an amazing lens and you can get them for a song! 😬👍📸 I really appreciate it!
I got a 80-200 basically the same. Very nice lens and video.
I need to look that one up, that would give me a lot more on the long end with the APSC XT3... thanks!!!👍📸

Yeah, it blew my mind at how good it is for the price, it is one of the mirrorless worlds best kept secrets.
My copy of this lens is razor sharp. The colours are stunning.

I would say you definitely got your money's worth!! Really nice shots!
Thank you. It is a great lens for 40$, it takes great photos as long as I do my part. 😜🤷🏻♂️📸
